...ahh another pretty fall day again today.  Need to go shopping for a medium sized stainless steel saucepan so I can make my Jambalaya.

Tonight though, my special Teriyaki no toriniku to itame yasai oba raisu...oishi.

Morning *waves*  TGIF here & that job is finished before it quite finished me. Is unexpectedly cool today so think I'll be sleeping until it warms up again, or at least the rest of today whichever comes soonest  :)

...didn't find a proper sized saucepan but made a couple other discoveries. First was a market that is a very local chain which used to have a market near ny old 'hood which I used to shop at years ago. They still have the best butcher and fish counter in the city. Piked up a couple bangers, a big spud, and some sinus clearing British mustard to make classic bangers & mash for tomorrow. Also they had the pickled ginger I need for my dinner tonight (so don't have to go way to the east side of town where all the mom & pop Asian grocery stores moved our to). Second, in my walking about came across a ceeky little martini bar which has incredible prices (8$ normal 4.50$ happy hour) and an extensive martini menu. Enjoying a "007" made perfectly.

Old enough to remember when Sears and Roebuck was a catalog that you ordered from and items were delivered to local pickup stations. I am very old.

And you could jack up your car with two Sears catalogs!

I had a YouTube worthy meltdown at our local Sears a couple weeks ago, bemoaning the days when you actually got competent, service at Sears. surprise Afterwards I told the clerk at the check-out that I hoped she was prepared for when Sears folds.  Luckily there was no one under 30 in the store whipping out cameras. (I hope)blush

I remember the catalogs.  They were pretty thick!  But they had a store downtown, too.

Or put them on a chair and put a kid on it, so he could sit at the table!  laugh

Yep. That was one of the uses for old catalogs. my Mom and Dad used strong tape to make them more stable (the catalogs, not my parents). The catalogs were my booster seat. smiley But my favorite was the Christmas Wishbook.

What was so great was that the toilet hadn't been invented yet!  So it's the outhouse, or the bushes!  And they are still in use in state and national forests, along trails and such.  And even out in the high desert in California, where some of the old homestead cabins are.

i heard today they doing away with toll booths?

they snap a pic of your license plate and send a bill?  with an admin fee on top of the toll fee?

if you dont pay the bill they suspend your registration?

Different states may do it differently, but yes.  They just knocked down a bunch of toll booths on the Mass Pike (rte. 90).  If you have EZ-Pass, you don't get a bill.  You have an account that you deposit money into when you open it and get your transponder.  When it gets low, it replenishes from your credit card.  I don't go through many tolls, mostly just when I go on vacation.  My account hasn't needed to be replenished yet...had it for at least two years, maybe three.  What's really nice about it is you don't have to slow down, let alone stop, so there's no lost time on your trip.  Unless there's an accident.

...ahh I used to remember both the Illinois Tollway and Kansas Turnpike.

Those were the days when you had to keep a container of coins within reach since the automatic ones (which were the quickest to get through as the few manned ones usually had long lines that included trucks, buses, and cars with trailers) all required "exact change".  You also had to be a pretty good shot as well, even given the large catch baskets the machines had on them

I encountered them a few times when I was young.  In winter it was better than shitting in a ditch.  Though not by much. indecision   But in summer it was worse! (mosquitos, roaches, snakes, smell, general ugness) surprise  You didn't want much light in them because you might be able to see what was crawling on the floaties down there. no  Think untended, ripe Port-a-Potties.

Happy Saturday. It's 2:30 AM here. I'm still awake (as usual) ...been a night owl for about 15 years thanks to working graveyard shifts.

While hubby is snoring, I'm watching silly Youtube videos and trying to decide if I can be quiet enough to make something to eat without waking him. Must be stealthy, like a sandwich making ninja.

was dreaming a nice dream, bluejays ruckus woke me. too early for a caturday - complaint.

was dreaming about a lot of buppies. they were runnong around happy with squeaky balls, squeaky toys sounded suspiciously like bluejays.
