Note 2: And Genesis 8 Female was released on 15th, so about the only thing that was really wrong was the date. LOL. Good fun. Well I AM having fun with my Genesis.
Note: @DAZ_Steve has posted later on in this thread that this was caused by a social media tool hiccup. So keep calm and render on. Things come when they come.

I cannot imagine that this is legit. DAZ wouldn't make such a silly mistake as to give a definitive release date for G4. They love to surprise us.
Edit: Also that screen cap looks like the body morph images for G3. I think those are actually on here somewhere. lemme see if I can find them.

Those bodies are too muscular to be base figures as well.

I'm guessing the Genesis 8 is to line it up with Victoria 8/Michael 8/etc. (Never mind this will make the previous versions more confusing for newbies, but oh well)
I'm just wondering if we'll get the male and female figures at the same time, since they're both in the picture, or if we'll be waiting 6+ months again for the G8M. I highly doubt they're going back to a unified figure (though I can hope.)
Actually with old figure releases they used to post a preview thread with the figures and tons of content that was coming out for them, I miss those days.

And if they're account is hacked, I won't be surprised if the hackers gained access to both FB and twitter since they could be connected to each other causing it to be posted on both social media accounts
Well, hells bells. Maybe it is legit, but it still seems odd to me that they'd use an image of the G3 figures. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But then, what do I know.
I think it would be supremely neato if they told us if they work in Poser and Carrara too. I mean, I don't use those two, but a load of friends do.
And UV maps etc would be nice to know as well, if they are backward supporting.

Doesn't the aux viewport normally show the same thing as the main viewport? In that screen shot, one is empty. It's like someone fake pasted a smooth shaded view.

DAZ's footer links to those accounts, as in "we're here too". So, in that sense, legit.
So it is legit. I haven't seen past previews but apparently the male & female are ready along with their morph packs. The faces of the male & femail have a physical similarity like Guy 7 and Girl 7 have a physical similarity.

Well while we ARE wishing... curiously enough, I recently commented to someone "I bet the next Genesis comes out when the next DS version does", and man alive if it turns out to be true, then I'm a happy puppy.

It would make more sense to release it next week but who knows. The last official figures were released last month. Feels like it's time.
You can select different cameras in the Aux and Main viewports so they can be different, although having a camera that doesn't show anything in the scene is an odd setup.
I don't use twitter or facebook so I don't know how reliable they are, but I think one famous twitter enthusiast has been known to say "It's gonna be great, it's gonna be great!"
Genesis 4 most likely being out "daz soon" has been the top speculated character release for a while. I would not be surprised if it will be out soon. I actually. Prefer Genesis 8. Genesis 4 sounds a lot like mike and Vickie 4. So hopefully that is the new name.
Well if they release 'a' DAZ Studio 5 I will very surprised and interested to add what major capabilities they have added.

Yeah, if it is a con - someone stumbled on a bright idea calling it Genesis 8 rather than 4. Still suspicious though - why use promo images for G3 figures?

Yes, I could see given the very stale status of the Optitex and Gofigure plugins similar features might be directly integrated in and support for those plugins dropped. That also has me curious any LAMH 2.0 direct integration or plugin status?
100% speculation on my part so I expect to be chastised by one of the forum moderators I suppose.
I'd like to see Figure Metrics directly integrated and much improved too given it's a very basic functionality.

We've heard rumours of a new Genesis/Victoria 8 for quite a while now, and little birdies had whispered mid-june, so I'm going with this being legit. It's an interesting marketing strategy - to do a public announcement of the new base, very curious. In the 'old days', they used to post previews of upcoming figures in the PC forum, complete with pictures of products PA's were working on. But if I remember correctly, it was previews of the figure add ons - as in, Aiko, Victoria, Stephanie etc - not so much a brand new base.
Didn't we get a new version of DS when Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 were released? My money's on a new version of DS when Genesis 8/Victoria 8 is released too. If they've 'upgraded' the base with new tech or something, then they've probably upgraded DS to handle it.
Well the public beta updates for DAZ Studio 4.9 has picked up again so I'm not surprised if their working on something with DAZ Studio.
