Just had a 5 hour one-on-one newbie training with a friend who I've lured into this fun world.
Here is the result of what "we" created, he wished, I did it on one machine and he tried to and succeeded to replicate it and understood "the concept". He also decided "what the scene should be", he is a huge fan of Cthulhu;-)
This is "my version"
Nice work - and good job on getting some new recruits lol :)
new recruits I thouhgt we bashed them on the head a force them in to servitude.
Sorry Pete, that's the third door on the right, it's verbal abuse only in here.
Darn I am always getting the wrong room. Now where's Arguments, please refresh my memory.
One door down on the left, passed "Hit on the head lessons"

No it isn't.
OH YES IT IS!
 Silly bunts!
Personally I prefer the "Switch to the Seat of Knowledge" door ..........to easy to kill brain cells hitting the head ......
It's just a jump to the left, and then a step to the right.
Played with some custom leaves for the ivy.
Made the leaves using FilterForge (what else ;- ) Also changed the stem shader.
Rendered with Luxus btw.
My latest PCI entry -- used Jack's Dubious Bank and Curator Aquarum (the ground). DS4.5Pro / Luxus render, postwork in GIMP.
A Sunlit Yet Dubious Door
Ah nice!
How is Luxus, too.. does my stuff play nicely in it?
Nice work :) another Luxus render, too :)

I'm trying out Platea but it is taking forever. I hope what is showing in the render window is just the light calculation as it looks horrible.

Well if not, hopefully Totte can share what he did to get it working ok :)

Yes it does play very well with it, so far so good anyway ;-)
What shall we abuse now?

I had no problems (but I always renders over night when using Lux...)

Anything and everything? ;)
It was still going after 11 hours this morning. Had to kill it as I need the machine for work. This was as far as it had reached.
I think it looks great - and I bet that water and it's reflections are the reason for the rendertime.
Yes. Renderers and water don't always mix well. There are quite a few reflections. As I'm used to Vue I'm out of the habit of long renders.
I hope to get Platea into Vue over the weekend. Jack's buildings are usually very well behaved in Vue and less likely to show the odd bulges from Vue's strange idea of how to read an obj. I have a way of correcting badly behaved buildings but it is slow.
I put one render on the stove ;-)
Baglet - the water looks really good, and I agree on Vue, renders pretty fast, but I've got looong renders with Vue too when water is involved.
Maybe I should put some more Jacks buildings into Vue and render.
Luxus is good if you spend the time on the matarials first, this what bugged me about Reality and one of the many reasons why I never got it. But with Luxus everything is in one place. Personally I think this is a stroke of Geneis by SpecLabs but I would never tell them that of course.
I don't mind if you want to abuse me...I am used to it. :( and depending whos doing it I might enjoy it. Oops TMI again. ;)
LOL Pete!
Luxus seems to be much better in "guessing material settings" that Reality ever was. With Reality it took forever to make something look good, but when you got it, it really looked fabulous!
I won't argue with that Totte.
I know, that's the next door, on the right.
Oh no it's not.
It is!
