What is a bonus buyer, and how does it work?

I'm hoping at some point, the discounts increase - I'm buying several things a day and seeing nothing.

I thought there was supposed to be a benefit to buying stuff. Like a Buyer  Bonus or something....

Just kidding. But I'd like to see something that rolls along during the whole month.

I'm so scared I spend today and tomorrow something incredible happens. lol

Bought my first gift card/code with the 10% bonus buyer + 5% discount today. Still waiting for the "Madness" but the sale is pretty good so far.

Oh, and that the freebie only is mentioned on the general March Madness page is a bit annoying.  I'm 90% sure I could have picked up the castle interior the day I made my first MM purchase, but because I was only looking at the current day's page, and not the "newly mad/still mad" page, I didn't even realize it was free - since it doesn't show free on the store page, and there's no mention of freebies on the banner.

I only knew about the electronics because I saw them mentioned in this thread.  Again, I didn't look at the "main" sale banner page, just the page with the new stuff.  Because I've (in theory) already seen the old stuff.  For March Madness, I only check to see where a given vendor is in the que so I have an idea how long I have to decide on making a purchase or not.

Missing out on a Freebie because I didn't qualify is fine.  Missing out on a limited time freebie because I didn't know it was free?  Irritating.  Not to the point I think it's unfair, or even mostly Daz's fault I missed it (I should have looked when the banner popped up), but still irritiating.

Both banner entries go to the same page.... you just have to scroll down. The freebie link is directly below the new items. But, and here's something easier to miss: there's RELATED ITEMS at the bottom below the vendor list, too, for discounts on stuff that isn't in the FA list.

Based on past history and what was actually said in this thread, the general discount is unlikely to increase. But if you pay for something offered at a super discount the next day (which very well may happen with individual items) you can submit a ticket to CS for the difference in price. They are very nice.

Going through the process of a refund for something that should have been transparent to begun with is a bit of a hassle though, don't you think?

Comparing Daz to a fancy restaurant is not logical. 3d content is not like food. It is a tool. So it is more akin to a hardware store. Now just imagine you are a frequent hardware buyer. You are in a store, and you see some nice tools. They are nice but decide to wait because you could get a better deal. Then you go home, and your friend Steve tells you how he got a new drill and it came with a fancy new bit set for free! But you were just there! "You had to buy the drill first before they'd tell you about the free bit set!" Says Steve. "What! That doesn't make sense!" You say. Steve tells you it was a special sale for buyers only. They will happily explain it all, but only after you buy that drill! There is a forum that popped up with customers talking about this...but you don't visit those forums everyday. So you missed out. Even though you were there, even though you spent time inside that store, and looked at all sale papers...you still didn't know.

That's Daz's March Madness sale in a nutshell. Sure, they will get sales. Because it is a sale, people are going to buy things. But not everybody. The first day was pretty bland, IMO. So was day 2. Many people are waiting for bigger deals, even though there is a deal they have no idea about. Only a very small percentage of users ever visit a forum. This is a fact at every store front in existence. I don't see how Daz would be any different. Especially for people who have done this for years and feel they know the software well enough. What reason do they have to visit everyday? What reason does anyone have to visit the forums everyday? You have to be pretty hardcore to do so, and statistics prove that's a very small number. And I sure would hope that there are more people buying stuff than just those in this forum...they wouldn't be doing so well if that was the case.

Yeah, I've had that happen with tools. Usually if I decide to wait, I'm happy I decided to wait. Free bits don't actually reduce the price of the drill itself.  I also don't get angry when frequent buyers at a store get a discount I, as a non-frequent buyer don't get. And, as has been said repeatedly, this as a problem only affects people who are either a.) not frequent buyers anyhow or b.) don't bother to actually look at the sales page.

Also: you say 'many people are waiting' and 'the first day was bland' as if you _know_ this is a general opinion. What do you base this information on? Do you think your information source trumps Daz's, given they almost certainly have both sales estimates and the information to know if they're meeting projections or not? Why do you believe your 'many people' is more than the forum population rather than less?

Since Daz seems to be, in general, doing quite well, my suspicion is that the sale is working as intended, even if most people don't visit the forums. They seem to know their business.

Since you are relatively new here (I think your first MM sale?), maybe you didn't realize that there are typically some very obvious great deals with March Madness, but sometimes not when it "starts". It is common for people to allocate a certain amount for MM and wait for the good sales on the type of items they are looking for to start. Sometimes DAZ doesn't start off MM with the best deals either. So people saving their money waiting for the "deals" is common. On the surface, it looks like this MM is like virtually every other day at DAZ, standard introductory sale, with an added bonus discount for buying one or two new items. Pretty much a standard thing, no MM there. The only way you ever see the other deals on the MM sales pages that you are refering to is to actually have purchased a Newly Mad or Still Mad item.

The reason you are seeing complaints is because MM has never been done this way before, with hidden freebies and discounts. Even going to the MM sales pages does not let you know about these unless you have purchased something. So anyone waiting for the real MM to begin (because what you see on the MM pages doesn't even let you know these hidden deals are there), and not visiting the forums, will completely miss all of the MM promotions so far. This is much different than how DAZ has done MM in the past.

Oh .... for the record there is no way I can be mad at DAZ for missing anything so far. I bought the walk cycle from SKamotion yesterday, because his stuff is always a must buy, they are the best walk cycles available IMHO. So with the advertised discounts, I realized I could add a hair model and pay the same price. Now I can see all of the other promo stuff, and thanks to the Mm Freebie thread, I found out that the Castle Interior, the item I wanted, was the first freebie, and that even though it showed the intro price in the shop, in my cart it would still be free. So woohoo!! I got the itme I wanted for free!!

But, that still doesn't change my opinion about the hidden sales and freebies. How do you draww cutomers with a sale when they don't know it exists??

When did you get the Castle Interior for free?  I've been a 'MM buyer' for a few days, and it never shows up as free for me.

If you put it in your cart, then go to your cart, it should show up as free. I got it free this morning, but the free price didn't show until I went to my cart.

I am grateful for the bonus buyer extras and consider it like waking up Christmas morning to find something extra in your stocking. It's a gift, and maybe a thank-you for your business, and good surprises are always nice. Here are the details of the bonus gift so go buy something and then come back and shop more but this bonus buyer thingy could end at anytime, at Daz's discretion. The free item has a price which changes to 0.00. Just remember to checkout before midnight in Utah etc for Californians' that's before 11pm.

Here is a forum link that lists some sku's under 16000.

So.... again, you're both defending the poor sad people who just don't KNOW how to shop at Daz (like say clicking on sales pages and reading them) but also referring to old experienced pros. There aren't hidden 'other deals' on the sales page. There's a single '10% off everything and 30% off RDNA/old stuff' _banner_ that shows up everywhere and offers a small bonus. And there's sometimes a free item on the sales page. Right below the new releases.

And yes, this is my first, very first March Madness. But generally what I heard up until now was that March Madness always had these awful punchcard sales games that were super frustrating.  Clearly March Madness isn't about 'drawing customers' but finding ways to infuriate people. It's in the title!

I just wanted to bring a little balance to the complaints originally, by explaining why I wasn't bothered by this approach. I feel like I've sufficiently done so at this point. Anyhow, I hope you continue to enjoy the sale.

Nope, not now. It was free to Bonus Buyers throgh earlier today;  but when the store went down this afternoon it seems to have been corrected and now only Electronics Tools is a Bonus Buyer freebie.

Looks like the sale page has been tweaked a bit; the new freebie Classic Axes turned up earlier, I "bought" it, and it's still showing in the sale page. Now at least it'll be easier to tell when there's something new.

Got Classic Axes for free just because I bought something, so cool! But I would've missed it if I wasn't still browsing too, so kinda wierd.

The most important takeaway is that Daz seems to be lurking here, reading, evaluating and then making adjustments.

It's awesome that they addressed that.

Yes, I've often wondered if Daz has dedicated one its marketing people to secretly follow the forums to get a feel for customers reactions....
