Nothing is wrong with characters from Pixar films, but that is a style. Just like older vers of Aiko are a different style than the current Aiko. Similar, but I personally wouldn't wish to mix the two in a render where that wasn't the point.
And why hasn't there been one for some time? It's not like folks haven't been asking for them, is it?
People ask for lots of things all the time that they don't get, and we get things all the time that nobody asks for. Either way if the thing isn't availible, it's rather presumptive to always claim, or make the excuse that "it doesn't sell".
And you can go back for years and find people asking for realistic kid figures. I've only been here a bit longer than half a year, and I've seen people ask several times. It's just like the Nielson's where one vote represents a certain number of households. We're on a thread now where somebody has asked for something. How many people does that represent? Certainly more than the OP themselves.
Yes, people have been asking for some time. Do you really think that nobody has at least attempted to submit them for sale here or at other stores in all that time? Or other items that have been asked for.
If I remember correctly, there was a thread where someone gave some hints of how to adjust certain aspects of Little Ones to make them look very realistic. For the life of me I can't remember the thread or find it. I'd love if someone could link that thread if they knew the one I meant!
Probably by blending in 30% or more of the adult Genesis 3 faces as the Littles ones are already more realistic than most toons.
The only one I can think of is Diva for Dawn over at The Other Other Store That Can't Be Named, but that requires a separate figure (Dawn) to work, as she's essentially a morph. As far as non-overtly toon styled kids? Nope, none that I can see.
Then the question becomes, how prfitable were the Gen 7 Tween characters? That might be a good way to get an idea of future kid figures.
DAZ pretty much gave away Ryan to most of its higher spending customers (90% off the pro bundle), so I doubt they made much money on him, and it would be a poor indicator of how well he would have done without the discount. Tween Julie was given a "normal" release, so maybe a better guide.
I don't have Word of Daz on this, but my opinion is that it's because realistic kids don't sell. My old Kids 4 products did the worst of any of my Gen 4 stuff. Yes, there's tons of clothes and accessories one could make for them, but not enough of an audience to buy them. Even if ten people ask on the forum, we need 200+ that are interested for a PA product and probably a lot more for a Daz Original.
I personally am also uncomfortable making kids' stuff because of what people might do with it, but I don't know if that weighs or not in the big scheme of things.
I would like to see a Kids 7, for 3-5 year old kids.
If DAZ released a Kids 7 and perhaps a G3M teen, Genesis 3 has the potential to be the best generation for kids so far. There are already two base female teen figures, Josie and Izabella, the tweens, growing up, and Chase for a teen male. There are also several outfits for G3F which are appropriate for teens and tweens. Even if Skyler, Rayn, and Haley are too stylized for some people, their hair and clothes are still quite useful.
Racial diversity is something else we need for the kids, tweens, and teens. Face IT! for the tweens are a good start, but we need age appropriate textures for tweens and younger. A six year old with beard stubble just doesn't look right.
..I've been here for nearly a decade and only a couple years ago finally got one of my wishes when Wild Designs released a pair of "real" overalls for G2F. As I mentioned earlier I had to struggle for years trying to create viable teen and petite characters for illustrating my story from Vicky 4 (doing so from Mike 4 was less problematic as long as I had "clean" [hairless] textures). When a couple finally were released (Julie 5 and Justin 5) they were for the original Genesis figure who's days by then were pretty much numbered.
I also find it interesting that even though we are almost a month past Halloween, there is still a fair bit of horror themed content being released. Guess it's helping me save money.
....actually there are three female G3 teen characters when you add in Leila who by far is probably the nicest looking one.
....hey, I had a stache and thick sideburns when I was 14 and was served drinks on flights.
I would buy kids that looked like real kids. It would certainly make a lot of renders more realistic. There is something a bit creepy about having a bustling village with no children in it. The toon ones don't work for me at all. They are cute but I don't use toons and have zero desire to spend hours tweaking them to make them look real. I have the kids4 and will be using them. Hopefully the iray conversion shaders will help update them a bit and fortunately, a lot of the clothes for them will work for the renders I need them for. Of course, finding anything but diapers and a t shirt for the two babies available to us is darn near impossible.
Wilmap has several things available...
Don't forget that Chase is just a preset using the growing up morphs (although the skin texture is good), and the Face IT stuff is also just presets, so neither of those add anything to the pool of available morphs. Whilst the Little Ones are indeed very toony, they do come with kid appropriate clothes and hair, so that should help with what some people are asking for.
I was inspired to take a stab at it with Jayce + Growing up. It's not perfect, and the face still doesn't look quite right.
One thing I found helped immensely were some face smoothers (from Aging morphs) to, well, smooth out some of the weird effects of facial morphs.
Victoria 7 and Little Ones: Female - slightly changed...
Ryan and little ones Caucasion mixed add George for one really ugly over fed baby
I'd just love some realistic kids to start with. Not that I can't come up with my own stuff, but it'd be great to have a solid starting point!
Whoops, double post.
What figures are those, Visuimag?

A combination of Growing Up and other morphs (a few custom, to be fair). Took me a while to get that look, but it gets the job done, mostly!
Uh,
looks like a midget 12yo.
I think, they really have to work on nose, eyes-face-proportion and eyebrows.
Now that looks like a proper renaissance baby jesus... Wait keep maybe dial in a bit od a six pack too
The thing is, kids vary a lot. That 'midget 12 year old' looks like some 6 year olds I've seen.
That's just it; we don't see what goes on behind the scenes. When we don't see what we want being offered in the store, we automatically assume that either no one is reading our request posts and making the products, or that they have no interest in making them. There may have been vendors that tried it, but the products were rejected for whatever reason so they went for something else.
This thread is a scream. You are right, of course. I will resist the impulse to crack wise.
I've been wondering something though. What if you had a kid model that looked realistic (or not, for that matter). Besides t-shirts and swimming trunks, what would you use for clothes? After all, it's not summer every day...
Actually that's better than a lot of grownup faces - it's mainly the texture that lacking.
Good but the heads are too small
