In the registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DAZ\Studio4\NVIDIA Iray, All I see is another folder named Cloud. Isn't there supposed to be another set of keys that tell the tool, yes, you have an Nvidia GPU, so use it?

I would expect that to be detected by DS on running, not be stored in the registry (after all, a driver update might change it).

Exactly. Adding another video card should be detected on startup too. It won't even render in Iray on CPU only, it just says no renderer available.

One other thing I thought of is that there was an Office 365 update in that time period. It may have installed something that prevents Studio from running Iray, but that's a long shot. Something like the MS C++ library can exist in multiple versions, so even if Office installed a newer version, there is still the one that DS4 needs.

After a month of this, it's still not working! Customer support keeps telling me I must have installed as Admin, but that's never been the case. The render stopped working BEFORE I updated DS to 4.10. I just reinstalled with the extra step of removing the Studio4 Program Files folder, and no difference.

If drivers turn out to be an issue, use DDU to uninstall drivers Display Driver Uninstaller; much better at removing the crap than either AMD or Nvidia.

I also just tried the 4.11 Public Beta. No difference...

I have also tried another supported video card (1070 vs. my 1060), and STILL no difference. I also installed the August 1st update to the Nvidia driver, with no luck. Daz Customer Support is now telling me I need to contact Nvidia. This is not correct. Daz is the software integrator, and they are registered as a software developer with Nvidia (I assume). That means Nvidia will not accept any input from me, but they would accept a report from Daz. Of course, Daz has not been able to reproduce the problem.

I did register on the Nvidia Iray forum but my first post has not appeared yet. My post has appeared, but there are no replies yet.

  • Hello  Slimer JSpud,

did you ever get your problem fixed? The exact same problem happened to me three days ago—Iray stopped working all of a sudden and I can’t get it back. (MAC user) Does anyone have a solution to the “no renderer available” message? Thanks
