I would love to enter but it seems a bit vague are there any rules on size,do we use daz,is postwork allowed, how many entries per person?

Why look for restrictions when none exist?

Well since the DAZ Gallery has restrictions on content the user at least needs to follow those rules since the entries must be placed to the DAZ Gallery.

I must be in a gaming mood because I was thinking more like this:

    Bathroom Pirate:

What better place to play a VR voyage of the seven seas, than in the bathroom?

Forum will no doubt squish the image - click for full or visit the gallery

only wanted to clarify the rules ,because it is no fun spending time on a render only to find out it has broken a rule and cant enter it.

  • Hello party people!

Enjoying this contest so far! Good chance for me to stretch my newbie wings. My scene focuses on a realistic, modern day VR experience. There are some cool assets in the store but I wanted something similar to current gen headsets. So, I did some googling and found a great resource: http://cognitivevr.co/blog/virtual-reality-models-and-renders/

They aren't ready for Daz out of the box, so I threw together a scene with imported models, scaled and positioned for use with a figure, and slapped some iray shaders on the parts. Since these were never designed to be worn by virutual people, they don't quite fit. I am going to cover up the clipping straps with hair, fudge the nose position, etc. YMMV

This link has my scene, just the OBJs pulled out the folders and then the extracted zips as downloaded from the website link above. It may throw a missing asset warning that shouldn't affect anything.

    Enjoy!

If you have a Wal-Mart locally I've seen a VR headset similar to Google Cardboard (use your own phone or tablet in it) for $19.95 that is a bit sturdier than cardboard. There is also the new Google DayDream but it is a somewhat heftier $69.95 but will have better standards and game controllers established for it then the Google Cardboard.

This was... an interesting experience to render. The result is a mix of Iray and 3DL, combined in Photoshop. smiley

    Feed the Dragon

Where does reality end, and where does the illusion start?

Just to check - have you blocked any scripts?  Need to allow jquery at least (maybe mediaforge too).  I also get spinnies sometimes when allowing scripts (site slow), but disallowing those guarantees spinnies.

I've had intermittent upload problems in the forums both on Edge & Chrome but closing the browser session and reopening fixes it.

Great image, that had me grin!

When you insert the image URL into the image window, click on the empty "width" box, and change the width to 800. Make sure that the scale lock is locked.

Ah, cool, thanks.  Now the image seems to be unclickable (normally I can click an image for full-res).  Right-click 'View Image' still works though.  It's in the gallery anyhoo :)

  • How do i see the entire gallery??

Click on the galleries link at the top of the page (between 'Technology' and 'Forums')

If you want to look at only the entries for this contest - at the bottom of the page, where it says 'search images' , type in #VR and hit 'enter'

  • OK my first go

  • no rules are defined about usage of renders elsewhere or for that matter if new ones etc, so wondering if ok to do a VR obviously not for the competition of the same scene and post it on youtube.
