It should show up in Content Libary. It will not show up in Smart Content, as it is a transferred product, and they didn't get metadata.

The couple of transfered products I bought all show up in Smart Content, but everything is in Lost and Found so it won't take advantage of what Smart Content can offer.

    retiretomaui said:

Yes, it does. Everything pops up under the correct labels now, but the product image. Again, weird.

To solve the problem, open [location of My DAZ 3D Library on your computer]/Runtime/Support

Then search for the product SKU (in case of MBM Hannah, it's 101922, you can see it on her product page on Daz Store or in Smart Content, by selecting the product, then at the bottom of the screen, opening the Info Tab).

I don't have MBM Hannah, so I'll show you with the Nicola Dress by Rhiannon.

    1. Here's how it look in my Smart Content by default. Notice the info tab at the bottom of the screen, showing the product SKU/ID:

    2. With the SKU known (105016), I can now open the Finder (I'm on MacOS, but it'll work the same with the File Explorer on Windows) then I go to [location of My DAZ 3D Library on my computer]/Runtime/Support and I can search for the SKU:

    3. Now that I know the name of the DSX file or the DSA file (usually both are present), I know the name of the picture I have to add in that directory. In my case, it'll be 'DAZ_3D_105016_Nicola_Dress_for_8_0_8_1_Genesis_Females.jpg' or 'DAZ_3D_105016_Nicola_Dress_for_8_0_8_1_Genesis_Females.png'.

You can use any picture, as long as it's a JPG or a PNG file and Daz will show it. Here's an example using the main promo for the Nicola Dress:

Yeah, it's a bit ugly but at least you have picture. Now, if you want a nice icon, you have to use a 10:13 picture. Daz's favourite resolution is 114x148 but you can go higher if you want, to get a bigger picture when you let your mouse cursor hover over the product icon. Here's an example with the previous picture:

I don't remember where I saw that number, but I'm usually using 380x494 pictures. Either the main promo can be used without too much trouble (with some promo renders, cropping the picture to the correct image ratio can end with a character cut in half) or you'll have to use another one, or do you own render and use it.

With the Nicola Dress, the main promo render crops rather nicely and you barely see the hands of the third woman:

Edit: Another way of solving this problem is using the thumbnails downloaded by DIM (if you have asked DIM to download them of course).

  • About face group names in Blender

If you want to define "Face Groups" in Blender rather than in DS then import them into DS by using OBJ format, you should define "Face Groups" as Vertex Groups in Data panel. When exporting to OBJ, tick Vertext Group under Grouping as well as Materials.

After importing OBJ into DS, you'll get Surfaces and Face Groups with correct labels as expected.

Isn't there a setting now to prevent it from trying to do that sort of thing?

I had to sign in to DAZ 3D for  my Premierr benefits  and yes, I got  rewarded with DAZ Connect up dating my metadata in way I  did not want and re-downloading quite a long list, a couple of hundred, of products I had had long installed via DIM. Also there are  2 products in DAZ Connect that simply won't install and so remain in DAZ Connect as Available to Install, listed even though those 2 products have been installed via DIM too.

You need to update metadata to get the Premier exclusive content, not to use the plug-ins or other application features. Even then, you won't be forced to reinstall anything - and the current beta in fact hides the available to install through Connect marker for products already installed through DIM.

I am surprised that it shows up in Smart Content. Maybe Daz has added some limited metadata.

Does the icons has marking such as character etc.?

For images you can add them yourself - just need to make some images and then add them in the same folder as the dufs using the same name as the duf file, just with png in the end.

Thank you! I actually uninstalled and then reinstalled and it now does show up in Smart Content. Weird. The product thumbnail pictures aren't there but the files do pop up.  I wish Daz had included Metadata when these products came over from Rendo.

Try to see if you can find it in Content Library > Products > mbm hannah...

Sure thing. Pls follow the steps as below:

    1) Go to the folder: your Daz Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Male\Morphs\RawArt\Reject, there's a file Raw_Reject-HD.dsf.(You can back it up to another place...)  Open Raw_Reject-HD.dsf with Notepad++. Go to the line 24594, delete the code of HD morph link (ss 1~2). Ctrl + S to save.
    2) Load a G8M or G8.1M Dev Load. Dial Raw Reject HD morph. Now you have a non-HD Reject character. (ss 3) But suggest you directly open the attached Reject.duf in which I've already created Selection Sets. If you want to know how to create Selection Sets for this case, refer to this video: https://mega.nz/file/CbRTELiA#Oy6SCPLB4-c7dWA9C23vuEnq_rDDkoMKOUP5MR19w4M
    3) Select the figure, set its Resolution Level to Base, export the figure to OBJ file (name it as Reject.obj) via: File > Export....(ss4)
    4) Import OBJ file with Morph Loader Pro with the settings in (ss5) Or, refer to this video: https://mega.nz/file/nD5RkKoD#ThMsX5dVKMABNCGfdWehhoY1TBF8Cm4eya4hXaLGE6A
    5) As usual, Adjust Rigging to Shape, ERC Freeze, then Save Morph assets. Done ~

Edit: Be noted, Adjust Rigging and ERC Freeze for the morphs have been done in the attached Reject.duf.

WOW!, this is amazing such a detailed and easy to understand explanation and you even shared already made duf file for me!.

thank you so very much i now understand how to do it again myself and the videos you made are great i saved them and your instructions just in case. again thank you so much :)

  • [SOLVED] Iray Render Viewport Crashing GPU

I am having a similar issue now to the OP's problem. I have a DAZ scene that has been working fine on one workstation with a 10 core / 20 thread CPU,128 GB RAM, RTX 3090 and Windows 10 64 BIT. I decided to try DAZ on another machine with almost indentical specs (same motherboard, RAM, GPU, etc.), the only difference that the CPU is 8 core / 16 thread, and a new Windows 11 install. All devices show up correctly in Device Manager and all drivers have been installed. I have the latest Nvidia Studio driver installed and Daz 4.23.01. The Windows 10 CPU supports 44 PCIe lanes. The Windows 11 CPU only supports 28 PCIe lanes and is maxed out. The Windows 10 machine is running third party AV software and the Windows 11 machine currently only has the built-in Windows Security system.

IRAY works on the RTX 3090 (Windows 11) with new scenes from the Content Library. But if I load a 72MB scene that was created on the Windows 10 machine it will either not do an IRAY preview or create a blank preview. Rendering will also create a blank image and get stuck at "Retrieving Lens Data". CPU rendering works (slow!).

All textures have been copied over and resolved. The Windows 10 user name is different from the Windows 11 user. The Windows 10 DAZ Contents folder is on the C: drive. The Windows 11 DAZ Contents folder is on the D: drive. One thing I did is use Notepad ++ and searched and replaced my user name in all the files of my Daz Library Contents files. There were a few hits and it took a while to switch out. The user name on the Windows 10 machine is unique so I am confident that nothing but the user name was replaced in all the Windows 11 files via Notepad ++.

I increased the page file to 64G-96GB on the new Windows 11 installation. Both machines have NVME SSDs.

There is this warning with one prop:

[WARNING] :: \src\pluginsource\DzIrayRender\dzneuraymgr.cpp(373): Iray [ERROR] - IMAGE:IO ::   1.11  IMAGE  io   error: The image plugin "oiio_png" failed to import

When I hide the prop the warning goes away, but the image being rendered is blank.

I tried another scene which rendered a blank image. I then selected one character and applied a solid color shader and it magically started to show an IRAY preview, but with the one character showing the solid color.

I searched for "oiio_png" via Google and found this link:

    https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/compile-error-failed-to-create-pipeline/294763

I am assembling two more workstations that will both have 18 cores / 36 threads and 256 GB RAM, 48 PCIe lanes and with either single or dual 3090s. I'll be testing this issue again and might switch to WIndows 10 to compare. I enjoy trying to fix problems like these - lol!

  • how to copy/paste a morph between left and right(mirror morphs)?

I still don't have Carla either. I also am not sure how to refresh the metadata. I do have her in my product Library though. Any help appreciated.

Are you sure? Log in with Daz Studio, refresh metadata (Connect menu if you don't do it automatically) and type carla into the filter box in the Install pane.

    That did it. Thanks Richard

I think this has been addressed elsewhere, but does signing in to do this cause product issues like signing in to Daz historically has? I have not signed in to Daz in - if not years, then many months at least - since the last time i had to clean up mangled products in my content. Isn't there a setting now to prevent it from trying to do that sort of thing?

I've signed in against my better judgement. I unticked update metadata and so far, thankfully, no such issues.

  • DSON Importer for Poser

If you want to use DSON to import Genesis 1 and 2 figures and items into Poser, you need to do so in an old copy of Poser 11 (after tracking down a DSON installer, of course - I can't help with that, as it's no longer officially available). Know that Poser 11 will happily install and work alongside the newer Poser 12 and 13.

In fact, having Poser 11 installed is also a prerequisite for importing Poser scenes to the (now free) E-on Vue software. So 11 is kind of useful to also have, and it will also run older Python 2 scripts that will not run under the Python 3 used by Poser 12/13.

  • The Mac FAQ

No real problem but I wanted to change the way I'm keeping a second computer synchronised with my Mac and I'm also planning on slowly adding metadata to products from third party stores and maybe later for various freebies I like.

I wanted to make sure both databases were close to each other, so it felt easier (considering I planned on redownloading everything because instead of synchronising 'My DAZ 3D Library' I'll synchronise the download folder and use DIM on the second computer too) to start from a clean slate (I do have a backup of the previous situation).

I could have removed all directories from Daz Studio, but I didn't thought they would survive un-installing Daz Studio, so when I discovered they were still here, I wanted to understand why they survived everything I tried to make them goes away.

  • Can anyone get Yellow to work?

Interestingly, if you click on a completed job and choose "Copy", you get a chunk of text that contains the prompt and assorted other metadata about the job, including:

    Gender : neutral
    Variants : 1

It looks to me as if the 'Gender' and 'Number of Variants' were features that were present during the beta -- and so included in the documentation, and in the underlying representation of the job -- but were backed-out before the final (?) release.

'Gender' might have been a hint to the AI engine to make the figure more male or more female; maybe it didn't work quite right, or they decided that they didn't need it after all. And I can imagine that they might have wanted to remove the ability to generate multiple variants at once in order to reduce load on their servers or to speed up response times. Yellow is actually pretty fast; you don't have to wait that long for jobs to complete. But if everyone were generating 4 variants at once, things might be noticeably slower.

Yellow does feel a bit like a work in progress, but it's quite fun in its way. It would be interesting to know if they plan to add more DAZ figures to the "gene pool" as time goes by. That might give it more range, especially if non-human characters like Astaroth or Lycan are included, but training AI models is costly and delicate, so they may not want to do that too often.

  • BLENDER DIFFEOMORPHIC ODD SHAPES ON FINAL RENDER CLOTHING ISSUE

I just recently started Bringing over Daz models to blender via Diffeomorphic. I'm using the easy import function and using a Rigify ik rig. But basically it seems like this just happeded to me. There are these annoying shapes showing up on my clothing but only in the final render. So i can't even see them in the viewport using vieport shading to even fix it. And i don't know why it's even happening in the first place? Has anyone else had this happen to them? And a possible solution? I read about shape keys and morphs possibly doing it and deleting them. And i tried that and still nothing. Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
