Filter by context gone blankSo I've seen the opposite of this problem mentioned here but not the one I have!
If I have a figure selected and uncheck Filter by Context, all my Smart Content disappears. So I can't, eg, load G8 hair onto G9--I can work around by opening the hair menu and then clicking on nothing and then unchecking FBC and dragging it... but that's a faff and I don't want to. How do I get it back?
I was fixing up some metadata for some content recently (mostly materials that showed up for everything, regardless of context) so it's probably something I did then, but I don't know what!
Error Opening FileHello everyone. How is your day going so far?
Mine? Not so good.
So, I spent 6+ hours working with a client on a commission yesterday.
I open the file and get an error.
I look into my log file and find this sequence of statements.

@Martinjfrost have you seen in the Ultrascatter Pro thread that Ultrascatter Pro under certain conditions crashes Daz Studio?
I am aware that there are crashes sometimes,. but these have been quite well tested and should be ok, as with everything to do with scattered objects, its always best to use the fewest possible instancees that helps avoid freeze ups and crashes.
The issue is that importing Victoria 4.2, and possibly other ExP figues, crashes DS if Ultra Scatter 2 is installed. This has been posted to the US 2 thread.
Good to know as general info, this product wont be affected by that (unless you do import v2 ) as it has no relation ship to those things.
I guess the hope was that you would make sure Howie was aware of the issue, since it is with the plug-in not content like yours.
The clothes don't fit to custom character morph.Proportion Legs Length is not really a "pure morph" but also ERC linked to a Pose, i.e. a value change on Y Translate of G9's Hip node. So, it's a bit unique case and more likely the root cause comes from an "improper rigging" did by the vendor .... or they could fix the bs morph of Proportion Legs Length on the Overall ~~
You can fill a support ticket in here to escalate the issue and ask for a fix: https://bugs.daz3d.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Edit: If you want to try, you can export the Overall to OBJ, import OBJ into DS. Re-rig it on G9 Base with Transfer Utility by using Bodysuit Loose Template, then you should be able to see the issue is gone ~

A fourth solution is to create a FHM (I think it's the correct terminology, Full Head Morph) for the glasses, so that the next time you're loading them to this character, they will work without further adjusting.
With glasses, it's usually possible with Daz Studio only, because in essence, it's doing what @felis explained and the first solution from @crosswind, only going one step further by exporting the glasses at base resolution as OBJ and importing that OBJ as a morph named in such a way that Daz Studio will trigger it automatically when fitting the glasses on that character.
You'll have to do it for each character you want to use the glasses with, and it's a bit more work than other solutions, but once done, it's done, so if you're planning on using these glases a lot with this character, you will likely save more time on the long run.
Yeah, that's right, which is related to the 2nd way I mentioned but one further needs to fix it if zeroing it won't help much. FHM / FBM / PHM / PBM / bs etc. are usually automatically triggered on the rigged conformers (i.e. by Auto Follow), so you don't need to create one but just send the morph out for fixing, then import OBJ to update it as a delta. Then Save Modified Asset.

Importing DAZ Decals into Blender? There's a regression now reported to Thomas, as a workaround you can turn off the "prune node tree" global setting until this is fixed. This will import the decal material correctly. Another issue is the specific decals use the "uvw" mode in daz studio that we don't actually support in blender, that is, blender is now limited to the "position" mode which doesn't follow the figure pose that means decals are intended for props and not for figures, also because figures usually use LIEs instead of decals. You can move and scale the gizmo in blender to reposition the decal over the figure, but again this will not follow the figure pose.
I'll see if I can get how the "uvw" mode works but this may take a while.
https://bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/2543/
update. "prune node tree" is fixed in the last commit.
The new DAZ to Blender PluginIf this is only a enhanced UI plugin for free Diffeomorphic, then 100$ + is really, really prizey.
To say it really honest:
I feel scammed, for by the advertisment, I expected a stand alone "one click" solution tool to bring
quote:
"Genesis 3, 8, 8.1, and 9 characters (plus props and environments) directly into Blender".
"Our Auto Daz Studio Import System handles everything"
No word of an add on for Diffeomorphic.
Quote:
"FAST Animation Studio Tools – A Daz Studio to Blender Pipeline
Auto Daz Studio Import System"
Sounds like a stand alone solution to me. So why does it need diffeomorphic?
As I said.

Well, in my experience with DS and cms database, there's no other better and safer way except for: Doing it from very beginning, i.e. after you rename folders/ reorganize folder structure, modify the file path accordingly in metadata DSX file(s) (in runtime\support folder) of the relevant products (e.g. by using Notepad++, Replace All...), then Re-Import Metadata. In this way, you'll have all original metadata fully intact ( incl. Type, Cate, Compatibilities, Autowords, etc. etc.), and don't need to Edit Metadata at all.
Edit: If you want to go for this way, suggest you use this script: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/618456/add-to-smart-content so as to import single DSX fileActually there's another way: directly replace the path in cms database... which is even faster but that'll requires postgreSQL DBA skills and knowledge of dzcontent... not really recommended ~~
Well for what it's worth, one of my talents is finding useless keystroke shortcuts for things. If I open Edit Metadata for each affected folder, go to the Userwords section and select all files to add them to the list, there's a little trick where if you have a file in the list selected hitting ctrl+c copies the filename (no .duf). If I then hit my "Menu" key (that usually just acts as RMB) and enter 2x it brings up the text box to add userwords. Ctrl+v enter, and that's one record. Arrow key down, repeat. So 7 key strokes rince repeat until I'm done with the folder lol.
Can probably program a keyboard macro to do that for me lol.

if I one day can afford those KitBash3D sets, this could be useful for getting them into DAZ Studio
I have several of the Kitbash sets and it is an incredible pain to get them into Daz. I've pretty much given up. I also have some Evermotion sets that I would like to use in DS. If the import actually works...yay.
I have all the free ones and the effort involved definitely put me off buying any
I did via Blender but splitting them up was a right PITA
Making morphs for figures with geo-grafts attachedYes, Morph Loader Pro gives you an option to import the morph for grafts - it's a button that gives a list when clicked, Import Morphs For or something like that.
The new "blender to Daz plugin"It works really well with KitBash stuff. You can download the native Blender files from Kitbash, and it keeps the textures without any additional work to import them individually. Definitely the coolest thing I've bought here in a long time.

Well, I got this Blender add-on nearly two years ago for Blender 3.6 from the vendor because I ever gave him some help through a coincidence. He's really a nice guy and has been making lots of effort on making this add-on... (nearly 9 Mil lines of codes up to now....)
You sound pretty knowledgable about this. Would this be the suite to use to move an entire scene from DAZ to Blender or would Diffeomorphic suffice?
I ask because I plan to upgrade my GPU in the future and would prefer to move away from Nvidia if possible, but I also like how iRay looks. Blender seems to be the best compromise for that since its lighting engines aren't reliable on specific GPU architecture (at least, last I checked).
Hah, it just integrates Diffeo as "its importer" to import scenes from DS... I suggest just stick to using Diffeo's panels to import what you need ~~ And still, Diffeo is the most powerful and reliable add-on for importing Daz stuff.
How much more does it actually have for $105? I've had mixed luck animating characters once transferred via Diffeo.
I have to say : too expensive ~~ I got it for free but I rarely use it nowadays. The vendor better gives a full introduction of the latest version for the potential users to watch before any buys...

Quite a lot of kitbash sets were built with principle BSDF in shading, they can be well converted to iray uber with assigned maps as well as property values. Only some big scene may freeze Blender sessions when exporting.... that I ever encountered ~~

Oh, so even if they look like that in the 2nd screenshot, you should be able to filter them out. Pls try this way... I just reproduce a case like yours:
- Type in "xxxxxx to filter (screenshot 1)
- Or type in "keyword::xxxxxxx to filter (screenshot 2)See if that works for you ?
Dangit...searching the FULL filename with extension will return in the search. But none of the components of the filename return separately like they always had before, which completely defeats the purpose of naming my thousands of files with the keywords built into the filenames.
The only real difference between my two screenshots is that the untouched files that work had autogenerated not only "my_cool_filename.duf" BUT ALSO "my_cool_filename" as keywords when they were created, whereas the altered files where I had Edit Metadata regenerate the keywords automatically only generated the one with ".duf" at the end. Perhaps it can't parse it if it has ".duf"
It's looking like my only option is to go through all these files and add the string by hand without the .duf :( (and figure out some other way of reorganizing the rest of these folders so it doesn't happen again.)

For me, it works prfectly. I have tried to import free Blender scene with a character and animation and it worked. Anyway it worked with different animations and characters. I also tried to import static props and everything worked fine. See screenshots
Both renders in DS 4.24
This is a great! Is there much prep-work necessary in Blender?
