When you see unreleased characters in the FBM list of a product, it USUALLY means that. Though, seeing the actual character itself arrive in the store months later afterwards is not at all uncommon, either. Though, given the fact that, not only did we get Genesis/Victoria 8 a month earlier than traditionally, but that Genesis Females always get a good handful of characters out before the males show-up is most probably going to remain this time around as well, starting with Olympia. This is of course due to the simple fact that females have always sold in greater numbers than males, and the fact that we're seeing Olympia of all characters appear so early is really no surprise. At the beginning of Genesis 3's run, Daz shared that Olympia very quickly became a hit, signaling a significant appetite for curvier-shaped characters. That's why a character like Bethany came along very quickly after Victoria and Eva's launch.

Can somebody make a succubus model, I mean a real succubus model? A model that doesn't simply look like a female devil/satan? Because that's what they all look like.

Aside from the lamia, which isn't a succubus (although the lamia asset is cool enough in its own right) the succubus isn't really a succubus. It's the closest of what I've found, but I don't really get the whole fire and brimstone look. It's a she devil.

See where I'm going with this? I want a succubus that looks demonic, not satanic. I don't want to look at it and have to think to figure out if I'm seeing a succubus or a she devil, I want it to be obvious at first glance. Which means I don't want a red skinned succubus, or a a succubus with hellfire/brimstone wings, horns, or anything.

Honestly, I'd like to request that EmmaAndJordi make it since I love their fantasy models but I'm not sure how to float that idea to them. It really doesn't matter who makes it though, I just want a model that I can buy that I like. I'm not trying to put down the other "succubus" models, they look good, but they're she devils to me, not succubi.
I would also like a nice Yuki Onna (snow woman) model, but if somebody could just make a legit succubus I'd be happy.

While yes, V4 has some specific issues, the fact is that for a lot of renders she looks just fine.

Personally, my suggestion for most users is to polish their skills with the cheapest available content, and only once they start hitting the limits of what they have to worry about refined details. A blank-eyed waif with terrible composition and lighting? Don't bother spending hundreds of dollars on better figures, learn how to make it not be terrible, first.

 

You can't seriously even begin to say that is a contender to compare to V8... I don't think I've ever seen a better example to make my case ...  Clearly you jest...  From arms that are far too skinny and have a bit of a tube effect going on with the skin that lacks depth.. OK, she looks pretty good for V4 and I've even seen a lot better.. even in 3delight I've made some decent renders for the day but the difference is... V8 makes it easy for everybody.. You shouldn't have to spend hours learning how to light a character just right so that it looks like a good render.. 
Clearly we will never agree.. but I am curious to see what you can make with V8.. if you own it.  Me... I feel like I can't make a bad render because they all just look so damn pretty.. :)

Any one else having randon crashes when trying to Auto fit items to Genesis 8?  I have had multiple random crashes and just sent 8 bug reports to Tech Support.  I love DS but this is getting old.  I have updated to the latest drivers and am running 4.9.4.117 and did the Victoria 8 update last night.  No pattern to this and I am unable to duplicate it.  I can have a crash occur then when I reopen DS and do the same things again, no crash and it autofits.  Any one have any ideas?

Genesis 2 is a good choice for use in Carrara, but I still tend to use any suitable generation back to V4 (I have still been known to use V3 and her friends too occassionally).  I have more content for the V4 generation than anything else, I think Genesis (1) is great for monsters and that kind of figure, and Genesis 2 is the most realistic of the ones that are compatible with Carrara - although thanks for Mistara, we can now use Genesis 3 stuff in Carrara too now, and I recently picked up quite a bit of G3F content for an absolutely knock-down price (I think it was 7 complete outfits for about $10!). If you have issues with Autofitting older generation clothes in Carrara, it can work to do the fitting in DS and then save a scene which you can open in Carrara.

I picked up a Victoria 4 set, since it was nicely discounted, on top of the + membership. I saw you using them in your training vid and liked the look of what you were able to get from it. I also have some Genesis stuff, no monsters, though... just a dragon for now.

I found the base for Victoria 4.2 loads from the content library under the poser formats but it seems like it's a 1 or the other situation after I install Michael 4. If I install Michael 4 first, he will load and work just fine as well as content but this changes if I install Victoria 4.2 afterward. He seems to fall into a black hole and become nothing more than a "does not exist" error message. What's happening and how do I fix this? Ideally, I'd like both model bases and all products to be installed and loading. I've been around forums and haven't had much help. Do I need to manually move certain items after they're installed with install manager? Do I need to have the base's installed to a different path than everything else? If so, what and to where? The only thing somewhat helpful I've come across are instructions to manually download and install the 3 .exe files for the models first, but the .exe files suggested aren't what's coming in the .zip downloads of the product from the site... so I'm not sure where the people who suggested this are getting these magical files or what god's they've appeased to do so... please help. I'm at my wit's end.

Technically the V8 morph that people say is too masculine
is just a  character, this is the free "base" default face

while I have my own animation related reasons for
skipping Genesis 8 the one single "V8 "morph  is not a factor.

This is another image I did, this time with Victoria 8. I like how the amount of back lit transparency, along with the amount of shine on the hair, can be adjusted directly in the settings for Hair Lustre.  

Thanks Areyna, that is a beautiful portrait! And I think it nicely shows how these shaders react much more realistically than the majority of standard hair shaders.

This isn't a proper render, per se. I figured I'd upload it for all of you who are following this thread to let you know that the shaders do work on the fibermesh eyebrows that ship with Victoria 8. The effect is subtle. (Look for the tiny red hairs.) I think it adds a little more variety and realism to the eyebrows.

I broke down and bought RawArt's Honey Character last night.  Used DIM to download and install her and fired DS up.  Loaded her into a scene and then applied the Green skin shader.  Did not appear that the shader applied so I went ahead and tried to render her and no skin color change.  I also see an error in the log file that states " WARNING: cloud\dzcloudtasknotifier.cpp(178): peer performed orderly shutdown errno=0" right after trying to load the skin in the log file.  Not sure if I have a setting off or not.  I am using DS4.9.4.117 and also did the Victoria 8 update befire I installed Honey last night.  Any one else having issues with the skin shaders for Honey?  TIA

Thank you all for your help. But, nothing worked. I even uninstalled and re-installed Daz, even the new Daz. Still, it didn't work. I have a question. will I beable to use my old Michael 1, 2, and 3, as well as the Victoria 1, 2, and 3 in the new Daz?

I find the release of gen 8 to be a welcome reprieve to my wallet. Since Victoria's release ive only bought a few individual items. I just don't need more female figures at this point so I'm waiting for the male release and unique creatures.

"A certain figure" is lacking in precision. The Genesis figures include the Anatomical Elements in at least some of the Pro Bundles for adult name # characters of the same generation (e.g. Victoria 5, 6, 7, or 8, Michael 5, 6, or 7)
