Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOTFREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From the deft hand of Oshikai (a vendor at this site), arguably THE most definitive Gorn assemblyI
Upon seeing this piece I posted at Deviant Art...
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/3359981/#Comment_3359981
...one in which I placed a "props" upon the feet and shoulders of Michael 2 (because it had the muscularity I wanted), Oshi decided to expand and greatly improve the concept. And mercy did he ever improve upon it!
He opted to use the still available Michael 4 (a prudent choice). Rather than simply "parenting" static "prop" type files to the head and feet, he modeled a set of conforming legs with suitably reptilian feet (and the proper number of toes) along with a headpiece with much cleaner geometry (using XCalPro's prop as a template). He also modeled and rigged a much more screen accurate tunic (with belt and buckle) and bracers that properly cover the hands. He also plugged together a material node matrix more closely resembling the cast rubber "skin" stunt actor Bobby Clark wore. Though Oshi kept my node based "fly eye" procedural. Thanks!
The only thing Oshikai made not yet done when he let me test the files was a texture for the tunic. He let me have a shot at that. I was able to find a photo of the tunic displayed in a museum. From that I was able to crop a section revealing 4 different abstractly designed "circles". This design is repeated across the surface. I also noticed the pattern was 9 "circles" tall from the neck down to the bottom of the front flap and 2 "circles" wide. This served as a convenient "anchor" point when I replicated the "swatch" into a checkerboard texture and tweaked the UV layout of the tunic sections. To (hopefully) hide the fact I derived the pattern from a rather small "swatch", I added "noise" to both the diffuse, specular and bump channels.
What really inspired oshikai was learning there existed a downloadable model of a Gorn head, one XCalPro modeled and later I morphed to look more accurate to Wah Chang's iconic design. TonyO got the basics, I just tweaked a few elements here and there. That resulted in a burst of creavity for Oshikai.
So let's give him a round of applause!
Sincerely,
Bill

That sounds... interesting? He could be eerily handsome, or he could be hideous as sin.
Why not both? For example, Anneka comes in Cute and Hideous varieties (or, as they're called in the text, Demon and She Devil).
There is a Vladimir for Michael 4 model, which is a pretty nice figure; I remember making some good monsters by applying the Vladimir morph partially to M4.I hope that an M8 Vladimir will be similarly versatile.
Report sales errors here. Missed it? No worries. "There's Always Another Sale™"the "EXTRA 45% OFF these featured Genesis, Michael 4 & Victoria 4 items fromeach Featured Artist Catalog above" does not work...
At least i don't get an EXTRA 45% off to showed price.
https://www.daz3d.com/mr-mole-and-the-attack-of-the-naked-mole-rats
is priced as 5.92 $. my cart shows 4,94 $ (that's 16%)
Something wrong or what does "EXTRA 45% off" mean??
SereneNight's Sci-Fi Fun Thread 2These wrestling poses were converted up from Michael 4. I think they turned out really pretty well.

Love all the points of contact between the figures.
Bell hop for the malesWhen I was a busboy the bellhops using wore a similar uniform although it was changed to look a bit less formal by changing the color of the bowtie, pants, and making the vest plaid. If you mean though a 'NYC' style bellhop uniform like out of an old B&W movie this this is actually decently close to that sans hat:

Report sales errors here. Missed it? No worries. "There's Always Another Sale™"Daz Mods: On today's sales page, the link to "featured Genesis, Michael 4 & Victoria 4 items" is the same as the link to "featured Genesis 2 items". I've refreshed the page, (ctrl + F5) but the link didn't change.
Obviously, I'm seeing the sales page now, though the Debut items aren't showing. Not even boxes with swirlies!
Still no purple banner, but I don't think I qualify for one.
Ice Dragon Art A Glimpse Into My WorldI assume there is still the real possibility of losing power, but based on the maps I've seen, it looks like the worst of Michael has past.
On a side note, I wonder if this was Michael 7 or Michael 8…

Stay safe.
Haha I think it was Michael 4 almost 5! Ya its mellowed out quite a bit, especially where we are.

Show Us Your Bryce Renders Part 10Thanks everybody for the nice comments to my last scene.
@Dave: Wonderful scenerys. The second picture I like most. I love the water material. Stunning pictures. I assume you used Bryce clouds or are the skies photos?
@akmerlow: Very well done pics. I'd have been frightend to death if I were on your Island an saw this pig

@Horo: Wonderful Island and superb lighting. Thank you very much for the PDF manual for Warped Terrains.
@Launok: Well made scene boutique scene: I am interested in your attempts to populate Bryce with a lot of people. The advantage of Daz3D figures you can pose them, but you are absoluty right, after 3 or 4 it's over. Older characters like Genesis, Victoria 4 or Michael 4 are using less memory. Not only the characters themselves, but also the older clothes. I am not familiar with Sketchup characters, you cannot pose them, can you?
@Hansmar: Interesting and original picture.
@Mermaid: I fully agree the Sunless HDRI skies are awesome. Pretty picture BTW.
Hansmar's post brought me to have a look at Rashad's lighting concept EGDLS once more. First I had the impression it is quite difficult (Sorry Rashad), but I was wrong. Of course it's better to understand the full concept behind it, but the good point is, you don't have to (Sorry Rashad) to get maybe not the best, but a really good result. I used only two DomeLights (of four) to influence the EGDLS light in my scene: AAA Skylight Dome and AAA EarthLightDome. EGDLS is a great concept and scenes are rendered reasonably fast (after all there are four dome lights). I tried it out on old scene of mine. I rendered my first attempt with Premium Effects and TA. The new one is rendered with EGDLS in Super Mode. This is only to avoid Moiré effects. You could also do it in Regular Mode. I am not so fond of the Regular Mode but with EGDLS it works very well.
The first attached picture is the EGDLS render (it can be found also in the Gallery here. The 2nd is the TA render. Both render have not exact the same lighting. I could not resist to play around with the light.

Alien
The different developmental stages of the xenomorph alien race in chronological order. First the queen lays eggs, out of it hatches facehuggers, those need humans as hosts, they breed out the chestbusters, even Ridley Scott didn't care about that in the latest successors of this movie series. I have the theory about that he let to much out of hand and cared more about this damn the martian movie. In my opinion the both latest Alien movies pretty much failed in trying to tell the storys origins.
While I think on the other hand dizney did a pretty good job to continue the star wars movie series lately.
There is also a queen head addon somewhere.

Arabic / Muslim Clothing for G3 / G8?Maybe this might help? https://www.daz3d.com/moroccan-dreams-for-michael-4
Some very old content....it's not Hi everyone,
Over 10 years ago I got my first version of Poser and I've been hooked on 3D ever since. However, over the years, I've switched computers several times and taken time away from modeling and rendering for a bit here and there. But I'm spending more and more time these days getting back into it. and I've come to realiize that no matter how diligent I tried to be in saving content, some items here and there have been misplaced or lost. Ive re-downloaded some from here and other sites but there's one that I cannot find either in my old runtimes or now even here at Daz.
One of the very first things I bought from Daz was an American football outfit for Michael 2. I've looked all the way back thru the orders I've placed over the years and it's not listed anywhere. I supposed Daz no longer supports anything much older than Michael 4, But even so, does anyone know how I might go about finding it within Daz somewhere? Or pehaps even elsewhere?
Thanks -
Arabic / Muslim Clothing for G3 / G8?I was going to say the same and they dForce quite well for me (assuming you have the option/interest to do so). Or cleaner looking shaders could be applied for desired results
I recently used the Moroccan Dreams attire with d-Force on Genesis 3 Male and both the robes and turban looked really good.
https://www.daz3d.com/moroccan-dreams-for-michael-4
The Moroccan Dreams also has several texture expansions which look nice converted to Iray (assuming you are rendering Iray).
A G3 and G8 update of 'Moroccan Dreams' would be highly appreciated. Daz made wonderful PC+ outfit series, like this one, the 'Cheyenne' series or the 'Pharaos'. They deserved to be updated!
