I've started using these poses when I just want to try out a new character or new clothing. Here is Gabi HD for Leisa 8 with dForce Body Pop Outfit and Haydina Hair. This is FEP Pose 026 and FEP Expression 19. I decided it was OK for her to be on her tiptoes in these boots, but I changed her left foot toes pose, because a high heel pose looked out of place to me, with her foot up in the air with those boots.

• Genesis got 9 core figures (4 females and 5 males)
• Genesis 2 got 22 core figures (15 females and 7 males)
• Genesis 3 got 34 core figures (21 females and 13 males)
• Genesis 8 reached 91 core figures (56 females and 35 males)

That's miles way from actually diving into a modeling program to make a unique face, and gives you so much freedom to achieve a unique look.

Leisa looks about 40 but not Babina. I was thinking of CJ or Ellithia I guess. They all look so similar, I get confused.

For me, yes for Leisa, but Babina is not there yet IMO. Even though the old (pre 94) standard was from 40-60, I consider 35-55 middle aged,

I agree. The whole fun of DS for me is creating characters. I might do test renders of core characters for the forum but the part I like most is playing with the zillion morph packs and skins I have and making something my own. Even when I post pseudo out-of-the-box characters, I often make small tweaks and play with skin settings, expressions, eyelashes and more. 
 

But I also agree there was a slew of female middle aged characters that came out like Jenni, Leisa, Babina and more that I can't remember the names of that added nothing to the gene pool. I don't think Nida adds anything to the gene pool that I can't do myself with all my morphs. So I only pay for character bundles with a character that adds to the gene pool or one with clothes and hair I like (or ones that come with tons of freebies.) The rest I wait till I get for free with another bundle that I do like. I usually prefer the PA addons more than the base character anyway and sometimes it's those addons that convince me to buy the base. I still haven't rendered about 80% of the base characters I own, but I do dial in small amounts to other characters on occasion. Many I have not yet used at all! 

I'm mixed on it. There's a ton of variety now, but a lote of sameness. I think getting bundles for unique characters like The Brute, Ollie, and Mabel have been great. Getting a quick string of characters like Elithia, Babina, Leisa, and Jenni is rather underwhelming even if they are all quality characters individually. It would have been great to have base characters with bundles built around more unique characters like George, Maxx, a mermaid or a new Reptilian 6. Not likely, but I can dream, right? 

 

I've seen what I think is a trend toward smaller incentives, an attempt on Daz's part, perhaps, to wean us off the idea that we should get Pro bundles for under $40, along with $200-$300 worth of older products for free. (A good business move on Daz's part, if I'm right.)

Can you expand on the 2nd part of your post? DAZ is giving us deeper discounts recently, how is this an trend towards smaller incentives?

If you disregard Dain 8 and Leroy 8, and skim through the sales thread for the last several female releases, you'll see comments from people who are complaining the deals aren't as good as they used to be. I haven't been doing screencaps of the all various offers, so I can't be specific about one sale or another, but the incentives have gone from X number of pro bundles to $X of free content from this page, to $X/4 of free content from these four categories… Where X continues to get smaller.

I was able to find a screencap of the Elios 8 onsite message, which stated, "Get $70 of Select Daz Original Items FREE when you buy the Elios 8 Pro Bundle. *Elios 8 Pro Bundle must be in cart simultaneously for discount to apply. $70 discount replaces the standard $40 discount."

I found two screencaps for Leisa 8, which I've attached, released during the PC Anniversary sale. I don't see any free products with these screencaps only addtional discounts on Leisa and Addons, along with discounts on the PC+/Day Catch-Up Sale Items. Those are items which were offered for a day at $1.99, and later in catch-up sales at $2.99. Except during the Leisa 8 promo, they were offered for $5 and then discounted to $2.49 if you bought the pro bundle in the same cart. The onsite message was for an additional 20% off the pro bundle, (didn't include the Addons,) and a code for a discount on Gift Cards.

I consider Dain 8 an exception. The offers surrounding Dain 8 kept a lot of customers from returning the Pro Bundle, myself included. Had Dain 8's incentives been as weak as many of the previous offers, I'd have returned the bundle the same day I bought it. When Leroy 8 came out one week later with the exact same incentives, I figured it was Daz's way of saying "sorry" for the Dain 8 bundled products. And in the sales thread you can find people voicing their disappointment that Leroy 8 got none of the additional offers that Dain 8 did.

There might be a new figure release next week. It will be interesting to see what incentives are on offer.

Painted details lend personality to a skin, but they limit how broadly the skin can be used. I'm fine with that. Genesis 8 is the first generation since M4/V4 where I have a broad variety of usable and distinctive skins, thanks to Genesis 3 sharing a UV and Redz' G3 Core UV to G8 utilities.

Darker skin is often even darker at creases and folds, and this increases with age. My issue with Leroy, Silas, Sanjay, and Darius 8 is the smoothness (lack of pores, texture) of their skins. Of course, Owen and Landon are too smooth also, but there are many other options for lighter-skinned males.

The smoothness should easily be rectified by increasing the HD details as well as SubD. You can definitely push most of the HD add-ons past 100% and get amazing results...and you'll want to render HD details most often at SubD 4.

I have Silas, Leroy, Sanjay, and Darius 8, but I haven't done anything with them. I do love Darius 7...that's one of my favorites, but I know the skin is completely different. If I get some time, I'll play around with them. 

Since you like Darius 7, I presume you know of these preset options Hellboy made for him? Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, I have them, but I actually prefer Darius' base maps because I put facial hair on him anyways.

Really, DAZ should do something about the forum search. I was looking for Information about some core figures (Leisa 8, Jenni 8), they have their own threads, but the forum didn't show me. I hat to work with Google to find them. What use is a search function which can't handle one single word correctly? That's ridiculous!

I recommend using the daz-deals plugin for mentions of store stuff in the forums. You will get a link to all the forum and gallery posts linked to the items.

There will still be a problem if you search for stuff not related to the store but to technical or other topics.

Just wanted to put an update out there in case anybody did the same thing I did...ticket for missed free Pro bundle has been processed and I was able to get my 2nd free G8 bundle...so I ended up with Jenni 8 and Leisa 8 as my freebies for purchasing Dain plus an add-on (I went with the HD add-on). 

Oops...I missed the 2nd G8 pro bundle. Oh well, I'm not gonna cry over it long and not asking CS to add. Lesson learned for not reading the terms of a Daz sale 50 times to make sure I have it right.

I like the character, like what is included in the pro bundle, and like the extra discounts from the loyalty banner.  Ended up with Dain 8 Pro Bundle, 3 Add-Ons (including the HD add-on), Gabriella 8 Pro Bundle, Ophelia 7 Pro Bundle, and $120 worth of additional content for just over what the Dain Pro bundle lists for me on the store page had I bought it by itself.  And I paid for it from store credit converted from buying myself a gift card at a significant discount.  

This release worked very well for me.  Thank you, Daz3D.  

Of course, I'm just rationalizing my Dazaholicism.  With my existing library of content, I need none of it.

Besides the Pro bundle, I picked up the HD Addon and two characters, Kalen and Griff. As my bribes of choice, I selected Leisa 8 and Jenni 8 Pro Bundles, nine of the $2.20 items at $1.76 each with the coupon code, and three products from each of the four categories at $30 off.

I agree it really looks like Daz rushed the bundle into the store, what with the general lack of promo images, but that doesn't mean the products were rushed. Time will tell, but I really like this bundle overall. And though I've never seen a bouncer wearing a suit and earpiece, I have seen plenty of movies where the secret service agents do. Now if it holds up well to dForce, in spite of not being specifically for dForce, I will be really pleased.
 

Okay, I took a second look at the promo thanks to the mention here about two free pro bundles.(Thank you to Daveso). All that really interested me about Dain was Griff. Kalen looks nice too, though. But I realized that the deal offers two other Gen8 pro bundles in addition to Dain. Three recent pro bundles along with a few wish list items and a few "whatever, I could maybe use that sometime" items made it worth doing.

I did fail to put in the DAIN-20 code for 20% off the Daz Originals. :-( But I only chose two of the 2.20 items so I guess that's negligible. 

Wait, what? The banner I got included one additional Pro bundle for free. So you buy the Dain 8 bundle plus one add-on and you get another Pro bundle for free. 

It's in addition to the "regular" promo for Dain, which gives you a free bundle for buying Dain Pro Bundle and one add-on. So you get one from the banner and one from the regular promo.

I didn't even realize you get one from the regular promo...I am so ticked. I only got one. 

*edit* Oh wait, it says "select G2 or G3 bundle"...I already have all the G3 bundles, so I guess it's not so bad. I would have been really ticked if it was two G8 bundles. 

I'd suggest opening a customer service ticket noting that you 'missed' the part about the second bundle.  I've made a similar mistake on a past sale, and CS was nice enough to add the missing item to my library.  In my case it was a HD morph that was supposed to be free with the bundle, but the concept is the same.

Sure, you are probably looking at some old G2 bundle, but can't hurt to ask!  I actually get pretty good mileage out of my G2 bundles.  As characters go, Aiko 6 is probably my favorite!

I opened up a ticket. I only use G8 nowadays, but folks here were saying they were getting two G8 bundles for free. Hopefully they'll be decent and help me out considering how much I spend. 

Assuming you received the Purple banner (onsite message,) you should be able to have the second bundle added to your account.

Oh my God, I didn't notice the free G8 pro bundle part of the purple banner. I'm going to have a REALLY hard time choosing. 

You can choose two (which doesn't make it any easier); basically the "pick your G8/G3/G2 bundle" link in the purple banner is an alternative to the "pick your G3/G2 bundle" link on the promo page. With a purple banner you get an additional free bundle so you can pick one from each link...or you can pick two from a single link. Unless there's something in the older bundles you were dying to own, two G8 bundles is probably a better value.

I missed the G8 bundle in the purple banner as well, and now I've deleted the banner. Can anyone tell me what G8 bundles were in it? If there's anything I particularly wanted I might try contacting sales support to see if I can get it. Thanks.

I think Jenni 8 was the cutoff. I don't have Robyn, and she wasn't on the list. Based on their release dates, it looks like all the Pro bundles that are past New Release status, (older than 60 days.)

Does anyone know what skin texture this is? What character was applied here? I really like her skin textures. It looks like Babina 8, but Babina's skin isn't that white.  How did she turn Babina's skin white like that?
