barbult's take on the lives of Jack and Richard
And now we return to Richard in the funnel...
Jack walks into the Daz+ lab and sees Richard Haseltine upside down, head first, in the funnel.
Jack: Richard, what the heck???!!! This is the Daz+ lab where we crank out black rooms by the dozen. What are you doing in here? And why on earth are you in the funnel?
Richard: Get me out of here! It's all barbult's fault. I said fun; she heard funnel.
Jack: If I turn the funnel upside down and shake it vigorously, gravity should free you...Huh, you're stuck tight.Image later. The forum won't upload anything for me now.
I've tried multiple times. It seems to be dead again. They must have fixed something. The image uploads in a couple seconds now.Off Topic Thread #2Stezza said:
OBS is pretty good, I used it a couple of times but now
when I try to capture stuff from the screen I use the snipping tool in video mode ... works a treat and is simple and auto saves.

thanks is that on forum or in obs itself?

Characters that don't fit the DAZ moldMost of them really don't have big boobs. Just search for "Realistic" and they generally look like normal people. Sure there are few models in there. But the first one certainly isn't a glam model... Oh, that's FN Martha. Amusing. None of them are sporting Double Ds.

Are her drivers up to date? Filament requires at least OpenGL 4.1, which basically covers graphic cards released during the past 5 years. I have a 5090 myself.
I suggested asking on the forum
I cannot diagnose someone elses PC since she dioes have Filament in 4.24 AFAIK I don't really know what's going on
I wasn't even using this beta hence just discovered the new drawstyles
deptn is very useful except it sadly ignores cutout opacity
Daz Studio and LinuxI'm a little uncertain as to what's working for you and what isn't. Can you render with iRay in DS4 and DS6 on the GPU? If not, your nvidia-libs library isn't installed correctly. If you can render on the GPU in both versions, but dForce is unavailable, something is otherwise borked in your driver setup. It's basically impossible to do an autopsy via a forum unfortunately as it could be a myriad of things.
How open are you to nuking your current Cachy install and starting again if this is the case?!
How does “Akiko for Mei Lin 7” look in the viewport?Moved to Art Studio as it is a non-techncial question about a product, not a product suggestion (would like to see/in search of type post).
Render your buys! 1, 2, 3 Testing!!I'm back! As some of you know from other posts I've made, my 10-11 year old computer died & I had to wait to replace it. This is my first project since getting my new laptop earlier this month. Content was bought during MM2026, except for Centaur 9 and Astaroth's pants (random pair from my library), and all straight out of the box right now. New Laptop is an HP Victus with i5 CPU & RTX4050 graphics card, if anyone's curious.
This WIP & products tryout is titled "It's Not What It Looks Like!" in which a hapless demon tries to explain WTH just happened to some irate forest denizens. Don't ask me, I have no idea what happened, either. I haven't done any posing yet, since I was so eager to get something rendered to show people. I might do it in both Iray and Filatoon.
1) https://www.daz3d.com/bend-of-the-river. This was one of the many flower/plant freebies I got over Easter weekend. As the product page & several forum posts mention, there is a Visible in Preview button in Parameters to toggle the high-demand foliage, etc. off & on. You have to have this on for those to be rendered, too, which isn't clear, so it didn't make it into the trial render. I do like the looks, expecially how reflective the water is. Maybe too mirror like? Any suggestions if I decide it's too reflective?
2) https://www.daz3d.com/sylvia-9-dryad-hd I've loved Sylvia 9 since she was released, but had held off on the add-on. It looks pretty good for a quick render. Needs more flowers, & Yes to the (Faye) Dress, as one of my next steps in this project.
3) https://www.daz3d.com/astaroth-9 (Yes, I got a bunch of bundles during MM.)
4) https://www.daz3d.com/centaur-9 I used the Standardbred Masc preset.
5) https://www.daz3d.com/battle-boar Looks pretty good in the distance with one of the included poses. He'll either be the Dryad's mount or try to shove the car around.
6) https://www.daz3d.com/llamaghini-gallopngo A old but fun Matty Manx creation, with standard Daz license but is pre-Iray. I just converted all the materials to the base Daz Uber Iray shader, then picked an automobile shader & a velvet (for the upholstery) from that material set, included with DS. Note that Llamaghini is old enough it will be installed to the Poser section of DS.
7)I used Code66's https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-set-converter script on the Llamaghini props (tires, spoiler, etc.). Note that the full car is a figure, so if you want it in .duf format, you must use the Save As methiod, since the converter only works for props. I found the converter easy to use, although sometimes I had to try twice, which may have been due to me never using it before. There's also a good PDF manual/tutorial available from either inside DS or as a download.
Daz Studio and LinuxNail, meet coffin. I still think it might be possible to get OpenCL working via Rusticl, as we did with a 9060XT (which also involves editing environment variables), but I'm raising the white flag. Don't be put off getting involved with a Linux forum; yes, there will be people who are curt and unpleasant but just ignore them. You will be able to get help.

I'm still uncertain why you had problems installing the ROCm drivers which is why I suggested joining a forum where there will be people who are experts with the hardware you have.No point me joining a forum like that. Asking you this stuff is very different to joining a tech forum and expecting them to have patience with me. I'd be an absolute laughing stock since I have no idea about this stuff. I can feel my way around graphically with Linux, poke it around a bit and hope for the best, but that's about it.
But that first part about installing the ROCm drivers. Is there another, more beginner-proof way I could get those installed? Like is there a specific product that would trigger an auto-install and auto-configuration of that ROCm driver stuff for me, as opposed to installing them solo?
Daz Studio and LinuxUnfortunately, no. All that did was re-confirm that the diagram that Csaa provided holds true for Nvidia as it does for AMD; OpenCL in Wine/Linux is not part of the GPU drivers. You still need the GPU drivers for Studio to recognise the card as a valid OpenCL device but after that they're not relevant for dForce. If you look in your Simulation pane, the Advanced tab shows something along the lines of 'No valid OpenCL device found. dForce is not available' - Studio is not aware you even have a GPU so step one for you is getting ROCm installed. At that point we could start looking at.
I'm still uncertain why you had problems installing the ROCm drivers which is why I suggested joining a forum where there will be people who are experts with the hardware you have. And, as you'll see below, I don't think Steam will help at all...
I can't get dForce working using Steam as the wine manager either, but DS6 started and ran with no other problems. I also can't get my GPUs recognised using Bottles. The only way I've managed to get full functionality in Linux is using system wine (just running the Windows executables directly and letting wine take over) or Lutris.

@acb: the only problem with searching for Pro, is that in the later G8 era (& the entire G8.1 era) Daz switched from Pro bundles toTheme bundles - cyberpunk, Christmas, Vikings, etc. So a search for Pro misses those figures. See my post above, with 14 core figures, not included in your results. You, or anybody else, is welcome to edit them in. (It is possible I missed some.)
I updated the list.
Cool! And it looks like you found some I missed, like Underbelly 8. I also didn't list the bundles that don't include the figure.

Suggestion : New DAZ Discord Server/ Channel..Yeah, the Daz Slackers Discord is pretty active, with a variety of relevant channels.
Since the link is apparently not to be posted here, you can also do a web search for “Daz Slackers”. The first hit when I searched on DuckDuckGo turned up a site that let’s you get the join link.

Yes, and the Cloudflare is usually on the refresh not the submission so that leads to a duplicate post (which is why theya re usually quotes). Firefox does warn me the odd time I forget, but with our without needing that I copy the text, then go back to the thread page and refresh - if the post didn't appear I can post the text in and submit it from the regular forum page without needing to go back to the quote page.
Daz Studio and LinuxI understand what you've done. I just don't understand how you've managed to tie the (essential) nvidia-libs DLLs into that setup properly. Anyway, I didn't find any particular runner gave an advantage in terms of viewport performance. 4.24 on my system is running on system WINE (11.7), and 6.x is running on proton-cachyos-slr. The viewport performance in the Beta is pretty woeful even in Windows and the only reason it's still on that runner is I neglected to change it back to sys-wine.
I can't tell you how to get it working in the configuration you're using I'm afraid. Give it a whirl in Cachy itself - I doubt you'll find the viewport is any different in how it performs on Windows.
I'm showing my lack of expertise as well here. I didn't realise it had to be an RDNA card for rendering which yours is not. The only thing I can suggest is to join a Cachy forum and ask people who will be experienced with AMD hardware how to get the ROCm stack and OpenCL (Rusticl is probably what you'll need) working properly. I doubt any will have experience of Daz Studio but someone on there will be able to point you in the right direction but I have my doubts this will be successful.
Still, all it will cost is time and you'll undoubtedly learn a lot. I am not really the person to speak to for AMD stuff.

Give me ten mins, I purchased that this morning.
EDIT: Just a straight forward auto fit without any fit control mods. I used one of my more well endowed characters to see how it coped.
The skirt pleats disappeared.
Yup. Not a pleat in sight. Not even the idea of a pleat. wow. caveat emptor.
It looks like this is the outfit that was converted, not MB's.
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-picnic-pinafore-outfit-for-genesis-9
Sorry, my bad, I have both. I just typed pinafore into search in DS. I'll try again.
EDIT: G9 on the left, G8 on the right. Had to drop the shirt limit off and drag it in a little on both characters (bust poke through). Only issue is the material presets don't work on the G8 character.
Thanks once again! If you look at the skirt of the G8 version you can see that blasted bent wonk that drives me bonkers. Not everything does it during conversion...see the previous pinafore...no wonk. So once again I shall take this out of my cart but this time I'll replace it with the pinafore you originally converted, it was nice. Thanks so much for doing this...twice! You're a star!
