How do I get the latest version?
If you have previously installed the Install Manager application and the computer it is installed on is connected to the internet, you can simply launch the application and log into your account. Once connected, you will be notified that an update has been detected and you will be prompted to "Update" or "Work Offline". Click the "Update" button and the application will take care of the rest.
Optionally, you can locate, download and install the application from the Product Library (once you are logged into your account) by entering "Install Manager" into the text field near the top left of the page and clicking the "Filter" button, or by clicking one of the following links:
If this is your first time downloading and/or installing Install Manager, simply follow this link, click the "download free now" button on the page and then run the downloaded installer.
*Note: If you experience a crash during the uninstaller phase of the update, it is recommended that you download the installer from the Product Library (see above) and run it manually.
Is there any documentation?
Yes, documentation is located here. Clicking the "Help" button in the top right corner of the application main window will launch your [default] browser to the same location.
Blender doesn't keep the Daz poses. You need to export with default pose then import a pose file onto your model in blender. that is how this addon works.
But, even in this way, official DTB may not import your pose file correctly.
There is an old bug hiding in the official DTB for years. There are 3 solutions:
1. Use diff daz importer
2. Use a modified version of DTB 2022, which fixed this bug. You can get it here:
https://github.com/butaixianran/DazToBlender
3. Fix this bug by yourself, by following this post:
Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedwildbillnash said:
Yesterday I discovered something strange. I had a G8 female figure up and I was looking for an outfit. I went to the Products tab and saw an outfit I hadn't seen before. I noticed "Filter by Content" wasn't checked. I checked it and the outfit disappeared. The only reason I found it in the first place was I searched for dForce outfits. The outfit in question is dForce Blum for Genesis 8 Female(s). I wonder how many other wardrobe items disappears when you check the filter box? (See included image.)
And that's not the only problem. I've purchased other items that won't load up. For instance, I was trying to load up a piece of luggage and I get a error message saying it can't be found. Instead I get only a untextured box-shaped item. I have also found items that didn't have textures included. Unfortunately I didn't take screenshots of them, so I don't remember what they were or the error message. Next time I will and include them in this thread.
Does the Daz team even look over the products that are submitted to see if they even work correctly? And why are there items in the Lost and Found tab?The problem you have just results from the wrong metadata of this Blum Outfit you mentioned. You may right-click on the product icon - Edit Metadata..., go to Assets tab and choose the item '!BlumAll' in the list. You may see on the bottom, this is the only item has the Category of 'Wearable/Outfits‘’, however, there's no Compatibilities assigned to it (in 'Compatibilities' tab). All the other 5 separate wearables have no Category data but have Compatibilities. That's why they go to Lost & Found first off.
When you select 'Outfits' sub-category with 'Filter by Context' unchecked, this Blum product icon will be shown as '!BlumAll' has category of 'Outifts'. When you tick the filter, it'll be gone as '!BlumAll' has no Compatibilities value for G8F.
You may assign '/Genesis 8/Female' to this '!BlumAll' in Compatibilities tab and save the metadata, then this 'not shown problem' will be fixed for the selected 'Outfits' category... For the other wearable items, you need to assign categories to them. This way apllies to all the same issues of other products.
If the author releases no updated package with fixed metadata (seems he didn't), you have to fix the missing data by yourself if you do need them... or send a ticket, maybe?
There're lots products have such similar issues.... The moment I discovered them, I normally fixed them at once since I had no patience to wait for the updates let alone those products with no update ever... But nowadays, I'm tired of doing so, just let go by using other tricks~Again, in terms of Lost & Found, items go to this category only because they don't have category assigned. The quickest way is to give them proper Categories by following what Richard mentioned. But such a way will only write the data to cms database with no updating the metadata dsx file in the support folder. One day if you re-import the metadata of this product for some reason, the problem will be back. Therefore fixing them in Content DB Editor plus ticking Auto Export (dsx file) might be better.
How Do I Make Blender Character Model Work in Daz Environment? The simpilest answer is that you would need to 3D "wrap" Gen 8 geometry onto the character. The process itself is not trivial - see
and other parts. If you can do without all of the morphs and sliders, there are methods available (e,g, rig in DAZ or Blender then import into DAZ).

@lou_harper, I have the Water Iris also.
Did a search in the store and one of HowieFarkes Carrara Sets has an Iris in it, https://www.daz3d.com/maple-meadows it is old, SKU 8138 and I don't know if you could render it in Carrara and import it into DAZ or not?
Finally found a DAZ Iris in a package by Gendragon3D and JeffersonAF, https://www.daz3d.com/variety-of-beautiful-plants-vol-2
I tried to see if there was another name or something for the common Iris, but no luck. I did find out that the complete plant, petals to bulb is poison. Didn't know that. Pretty flower though, but absolutely would not have around kids or pets.
Mary
So many plants are not safe around pets.
Not exactly what I was looking for but it is very useful. I don't know how you found it because I couldn't. Thank you.
When I purchase a product, I will print the promo pages and after checking them out after downloading, file them in a folder set-up that parallels the categories in Smart Content (somewhat). Plants may end up in either Environments>PA name> or >Landscapes or Props>Cross Generation>Landscapes. The first item by HowieFarkes, I found after looking at all his products I own, along with other PAs I know who do a lot of flowering sets and then doing a word search on 'Iris' in the store. The second item, was searched flower set by set in the Landscape folder looking at what was included.
My biggest problem was my mind just wanted to look for 'Lily's' not 'Irises'. I would get all excited and then realize it was a Lily, not the needed Iris. I don't know how the PAs create their flowers for us, but if they have to handle them, the poison might put them off. Though I guess gloves could be worn? I have always wondered how they create the accurate foliage they do when it is realistic.
If Hivewire was still around, I would suggest looking at their library. I don't know if any of their flowers moved to Rendo or not. Unfortunately, I didn't buy many of the flowers, went for birds. But you might check out Rendo for Irises or flower bulb packs.

You may use mcasual's mcjMirrorMorph script to mirror a JCM. Not fast but could be done~
https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts5/mcjmirrormorph
By the looks of things, that script will just make a symmetrical morph on either side, but it wont set up the JCM's ERC links. So... if i have to do each morph separately and still have to create all JCM links anyway then might as well just do it using Morph Loader Pro mirror options.
The mirrored import thru Morph Loader Pro cannot automatically create the ERC link and needed controller either, you still have to manually set up one by one~
never said otherwise.
Would have thought someone would have implemented this feature over the years, as would save a lot of work.
Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedCross-post. Re-installing will not help. The problem is with Blum's metadata, not with Genesis 8 Female...
Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedRe-installing via DIM is easy enough. If you open DIM and switch to the installed tab, you can search for the installed product. Then right-click on it and select "Re-install packages" - see the below image.

I don't know enough about this exact issue, but you may want to try the "Re-import metadata" option first since that potentially may be good enough.
Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedLooking at the metadata for dForce Blum Outfit, there are some big holes there. None of the clothing items are categorized (but the material presets are), so they end up in Lost and Found. They are made compatible Genesis 8/Female (except for the full outfit preset), but not having a category, they won't show up. (There is also a compatibility confusion with the overall, copy/paste from the material presets. Not critical, but if it is going to be changed, clean it up).
It sounds like you would not be comfortable editing metadata. A help ticket would be required to get it officially changed, anyway.
How Do I Make Blender Character Model Work in Daz Environment?I am looking to import some characters from Blender to Daz and was wondering how the process of "rigging" work if that is the correct term to use in this particular case. I want the characters to take full advantage of Daz Parameters sliders being able to move the face, limbs, and so on just like a normal Genesis 8 Female/Male character figure. These functions do not come imported from Blender. So how do I make a Blender imported (obj) character functional in the Daz environment?
If you have a straightforward answer, nice, but any links to tutorials and other sources of valuable clear information on this case are very much appreciated. I tried to look around but apparently, there is very little information if any on this subject. Everyone seems to be all about Daz to Blender and not the other way around...Guy 7 useable with Genesis 8. Is it possible?Richardandtracy is (are?) right: You'll need the Character Converter. I've used it and it just turns Guy 7 (or another Genesis 3 character) into a morph you can use on G8M.
And then there's the textures.
Genesis 8 models were made to be compatible with Genesis 3 textures, but there are a lot of Genesis 3 characters (like Guy 7, Darius 7 or Ekko 7) that use customs UVs incompatible with Genesis 8.
I see two ways to do this:
1) You can use software like Wrap3D that allows you to, among a lot of other things, transfer textures from one model/object to another, creating new texture images that are already adapted to the second object's UV.
2) You can use Genesis 3 Character UVs for G8M (link below). It basically adds new UVs to the G8M to make it compatible with textures from G3M characters with custom UVs (including Guy 7, among others.
Option 2 is ~by far~ the easiest and cheapest one, and the only reason I've mentioned option 1 is because I've had issues with the Genesis 3 Character UVs for G8M. It allows me to apply the Guy 7 texture on a G8M and everything looks fine in the Viewport but whenever I try to render, Daz freezes and crashes. I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a problem with the product itself or with Daz (I think it's probably on me, though) because I never cared to look for a solution. I do most of my work in Blender anyways so when I import the G8M model with Guy 7 everything works fine and the G3Character UVs product has done its job: In Blender I can see the G8M model does have the extra UV map and the textures are perfectly adjusted to the model.

as I said, Twinmotion
those people, cars and bike riders are included and follow paths
and no sadly you cannot import animated DAZ people (or any other animated files)
Will the Animation side of DAZ ever get attention?Dartanbeck said:
I second this. It was easier for me to overcome the shortcomings of DS's lack of proper anim tools than to continue dicking around trying to figure out what to do. Blender is truly amazing but you have to admit that it has a lot of its own absurdity to overcome.
Blender has potential as a DAZ animation tool, but as I said earlier, I want to drive the car, not become a mechanic. Cascadeur looks like it's a bit more targeted to this job. Right now I'm trying to get a grip on the basics. Personally I find iClone's pose tool to be easy enough to use, but iClone's not ideal at import/export.
about sculpting in BlenderMasterstroke said:
If I want to import a mesh from DS into Blender and sculpting new details into it, does this mesh will loose its UV coordinates?
Iknow, it does happen in zbrush.
So what about Blender?Good question and something I had also wondered about because I am clueless when it comes to creating UV maps. I have often thought that I would like to add details to clothing such as shirts that open or zips that unzip. We often get shirts with buttons but most of them do not open - same for zips. However, this kind of modification causes a whole new world of complexity what with UV re-mapping and transferring rigging, etc.
Whether it is ZBrush or Blender or Marvelous Designer we are faced with the same problems.
Diffeomorphic: Python Error Saving G8 Pose Preset *SOLVED*Hope you can help me with this one.
I get Python errors in the Diffeomorphic scripts folder whenever I try to save a G8 figure's pose (Rigify) to a preset file. I see this happen for both G8M and G8F, and also with G8.1F. I started seeing this after moving to the Differomorphic 1.7 version.
To recreate the problem:
- Export G8F to Diffeomrophic (as DBZ) with Daz 4.21.0.5 64-bit version.
- In Blender, load via Easy Import. Select Rigirify system.
- Save to a new Blend file.
- Diffeomrophic -> Save Pose Preset (use default settings).
- Blender displays a log error window.

Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedNo, the issue that has affected a few people was a newly isntalled product that took the place of Genesis 8 Female as the base of the compatibility, instead of marking itself compatible with as it should have. If you haven't installed anything (or updated metadata) since this started then it probably isn't the issue.
Gen 8 items don't show when filter by content is checkedIf the compatibility is failing try reinstalling the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials - it may be that something with bad metadata chnaged the figure's identity, reinstalling should generally fix that.

Would this work?

I saw that, was a bit concerned that it was originally made for DAZ 3. A bit old. In the end I bought a couple iris bouquets on CG trader. Of course, now I have to import the fbx files and manually apply the textures to every flower, but they look pretty good.
