Leon not part of the G8-family?
Ok, I found this thread about V4 clone creation. I didn't try it personally, but maybe it would help someone somehow.
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/193296/freebie-how-to-create-a-v4-clone-and-transfer-other-figures-for-g8f-now-with-video/p1Leon not part of the G8-family?Another possibility for converting clothes is to make adjustments in Marvelous Designers. I recently saw a tutorial where you export the .obj into Marvelous Designer and load it as clothing. Once you run a simulation, you can basically make the adjustments you need. Then you can save the file back out as a .obj and load into DAZ as a morph file. I was surprised at how well it worked.

Mrs. Chow 8@Wonderland, this is for you.

Wonderland wanted a render of Lihua without Mrs Chow. I rendered a number of head shots, some of which I'll share here. To start with, here's MC8, wearing Lihua materials:
And here's Lihua, who uses 50% MC8 for the head and 100% MC8 for the body:
And here's Lihua without the 50% Mrs Chow Head:

Mrs Chow has very thin lips and you can see Lihua is compensating for that. The Genesis 8 Female Head Morphs has a "Lips Thin" morph, which could help dial down Lihua's lips. Lihua also depends on Mrs Chow for aging. Without MC8 body dialed in Lihua is much taller, with "younger" breasts, and so on. I did comparison renders of Lihua's body with and without Mrs Chow, front and back, after applying a neutral gray shader. Those four images are in the attached zip file.
I also put clothes on the model. Those @#$% breasts! Even the clothing made for Mrs Chow wants to cling around those droopy protusions like saran wrap. So the next series of image are also head shots.
First, here's Lihua without Mrs Chow:

Now, here's the default Lihua with Mrs Chow still dialed in:
Followed by Lihua with Mrs Chosw dialed out and Grandmother HD Head dialed in at 50%
Using Grandmother HD if you already have her will help age Lihua, but the results could really use a bit of help for the width of the nose, making the eyes less rounded. Still, it's viable alternative for anyone trying to get the older look, who doesn't have Mrs. Chow.
But I think Lihua is makes a pretty girl/younger woman without MC8, and will work just fine alone, with a little thinning of those lips.
New Dforce morphHi folks. It seems like everything I have bought lately here either doesn't work right, or has special things you have to do to get the thing to work. Just yesterday I had a problem with a new model I bought and it took all day to get tips from you forums folks to get it to work.
Today, I just bought the child morph for Genesis 8 that goes with the Dforce Play Bedroom set. I paid $12.00 for it and I can't get it to do anything. It says it comes with a morph dial for Genesis 8 to dial in the age of the character, but I have found no dial anywhere, I checked the morph section for Genesis 8 and nothing. It says to set the dial to 100%....no dial. I select the Genesis 8 character and try to apply one of the poses and it just says "error" and does nothing. I have no idea how to get this to work. What ever happened to plain and simple instructions to get something to work. No help, no instructions...
Can anyone help me with this? (BTW, I do not have the Dforce play bedroom model, but I don't think it requires you to have it .)

Ok....I loaded Genesis 8 female figure. I went to the shaping tab and I selected Genesis 8 and opened it. No morph dials anywhere, No dobit, no play bedroom. Just ears, eyes, arms, etc.
Nancy not loadingAt least two of my actors are not working. Primarily, I instaled the Nancy Pro bundle. The actor shows as well as all parts (body, head, etc.) but when I load it, it appears to be the default G8. I can use some changes - materials like lips, make up, nails do load but the head and body shape does not. It shows Nancy at 100% under Actor in Parameters. Loading the Nancy full shape, Nancy body, Nancy head does not change anything. This has not happened to me before. Am I missing a basic thing like loading some morph or checking some box? (The other character not loading is Star 2.0) If I load, say, Serenity, it works correctly. So does Mrs Chow. Any tips? I did not find an answer when I searched the forum.
I am running a Mac Mini under macOS 10.14.3
Daz Studio version 4.10.0.123 Pro Edition (64-bit)
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2Definitely agree that the latest release is supposed to be Britney Spears, literally couldn't be anyone else based on the resemblance of the texture used.
As we know, some of these likenesses aren't accurate in terms of the actual shape of the morph, so they may look like other people. But it is definitely intended by the artist to be Britney Spears.

I think I may have to have the Dforce play bedroom for it to work. Gonna go get it now. Wish me luck!

Leon not part of the G8-family?i'd prefer akin to k4 toddler morph before a woman figure, just my 2 cents
Leon not part of the G8-family?One downside to owning as much content as I do for MALE figures, be it Genesis 1, 2, 3, or 8, with every character and product I buy, on loading a BASIC Genesis male, have you ever looked at what is inside of the empty figure? It loads literally hundreds of dials and product bits which I may have installed at some point, but will never or have never used. You have no choice. If you installed something that has morphs for a male figure, it loads those bits into the figure whether you want it or not. This is bloating, and for those who have slower machines or don't realize this, Genesis 3 or 8 male is filled with stuff you don't need.
Having a standalone figure - not loading up all the stuff from your Genesis runtime into the basic figure, is a big advantage - it's lightweight, will render most likely faster, and isn't carrying excess baggage you will never use.Just one of the pluses to having a standalone figure that doesn't carry the weight of every installed Genesis character/morph/dial...
I'm excited to see what I can do with this new figure, and where he can be taken. Growing pains are to be had, no question there, but you never know what you can accomplish until you try.

Leon not part of the G8-family?Thank you all for your nice comments! I am not going to make the same morph for Genesis figure. I can only promise to make more content for this particular figure in future.
I will be happy to do anything I can to help you with ideas, suggestions and creation of add-on products for this endeavor.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for offering help! I would be more than happy if other vendors make some clothing and hair for him or something else while I keep working on this and other projects.
Genesis 9 delayed until at least 2020. Will you be buying it?Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but I'd like to see the automatic bone adjustments in the eye areas fixed when the new generation arrives. Both Gen3 and Gen8 had a problem with that and it was a pain when I tried to create custom morph sets.

Leon not part of the G8-family?I'm intrigued about what advantages come from not building him on the Genesis 8 framework. Were there limitations about the base figure that made this particular character impractical or impossible to do? Has abandoning the base opened up new possibilities?
Obviously not having access to their (potentially very large) existing pose/material/morph/clothing libraries is a very large trade-off for the end user, and the description hasn't really said much about what benefits are offsetting that.
The goal was to create a figure from scratch. Profit is not the main criterion for me.
Using GV3 in DS4.10, a few oddities.I see no reason why your GV3 saved scenes shouldn't work. Do you have the same problem with V3?
Regarding the idea of transfering GV3 to G8, unfortunately the creator of GenX passed away before G8 release so GenX doesn't support G8, it only goes up to G3.
If you wanted to transfer a figure based on V3 to G3 using GenX you would need:
- The main program: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
- The G2 add-on: https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
- The G3 add-on: https://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3
- The V3/M3 add-on: https://www.daz3d.com/genx-addon-gen3-for-v3-and-m3
From memory when using a poser figure based on V3 or V4 you can load a modified cr2 as the source figure.
You would also need this for the texture: https://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-special-edition-victoria-3
It's possible to transfer morphs to Genesis figures manually using the transfer utility but it's a lot more work.
Practical Female Modernish/Future Military/Sci-Fi Armor For G8FThe issue I find and the reason I don't like to just conform male armor to the female body is it tends to introduce a whole lot of new and interesting deformation issues, esp in the lower bust area.
This should not be the case though if the armor was rigged specifically to the female and no breast morph applied. If it the item was rigged to the male and then transferred to the female figure then you will definitely get deformation issues like you said. A clothing item, being used for its intended purpose, would never get through PASS with deformation issues.
As for my female vest, I finished it last week but haven't textured it yet, will be sharing it soon once I do. Hoping to get the whole outfit (male & female) into PASS by the end of the week.
Yep. That's why I started this thread. Because of the bother of trying to port male armor over to the female figure due to the lack of practical dedicated female armor.
Honestly, best two armors I've found are the Peacemaker armor for V4 (xurge3d's stull tends to be a general exception), is so unisex that the male armor actually uses the same texture maps, and a truncated version of the Dark Void Explorer Unit Heavy Body Armor. Though the last one I had to maually port from G3 to G8, then remove the side plates and pauldrons due to deformation issues, but the breastplate and back plate look pretty dang nice once you tweak the breasts so they look practically smooshed rather than the classic "breastplate full of breasts"...
I look forward to seeing your new stuff.

Leon not part of the G8-family?@Vyusur Congratulations, looks fantastic!!!!
I'm with Tosca, I think you did an OUTSTANDING job with this stand alone figure. DAZ should hire you full time.
I must say it would have been good to include a way to transfer clothing and hair to him from Genesis 3 & 8. Perhaps you can create a new package for converting with the proper scripts to do that.
Congratulations on your release! WOW!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Alas I am not able to write scripts. It's much easier to me to create one more figure than to write any script.
Using GV3 in DS4.10, a few oddities.I have been away from creating figure animation renders for 12-13 years originally using DS 0.7 to 1.3 after Poser 4. Now, well, launching into DS4.10 is a bit overwhelming given its features & capabilities.
My favourite figure back in the day was Jim Burton's Glamerous Vickie 3, based on a revised CR2 file from Victoria 3. Loading the figure into DS4.10, she imports well and everything works OK. The problem comes with saving the .duf file & re-opening it. After re-opening, none of GV3's special morphs (Breast Size A/AA/C/D, Slender, Butt etc) seem to work, and the figure reverts to the default GV3 shape.
Does anyone know why this might be & how I could correct it? It could be because the V3 based models are a bit elderly & no-longer completely compatible, but it would be nice to have what is saved being the same as what is re-opened.
V3 and GV3 have some pretty serious joint bend problems, so the G8 figures are - well - absolutely amazing for the range of operation and general realism. Unfortunately none of the current G8 figures have quite the classic shape of GV3. Is there any way of moving the GV3 shape to G8F? I have seen something called GenX, but cannot really tease out from the sales documentation whether it'll work on a derived mesh like GV3 or whether it needs to be a morph applied to a V3 model. Furthermore, the numbers of addons to GenX are a bit confusing. What would I need to get it to work from GV3/V3 to Genesis 8?
As for rendering with IRay; Rendering GV3 with IRay straight from the standard V3 textures is simply stunning in comparison to anything I could hope to get from the packages 12 years ago, and gives the promise of much better to come when I learn how to tweak everything. If I could get GV3 to stay in the shape saved or convert her to G8F, I'd be a really happy bunny.
Regards,
Richard
