  • Announcement about phasing out 3Delight - do we lose our 3Delight products?

I have been downloading my installers and plug-ins today and only ran into one issue - Mesh Grabber. All the others, Mesh Grabber (Mac), the Mesh Grabber Bundle (Mac) and (Win), Mesh Grabber Morph Editor (Mac)  and Mesh Grabber Rotations Add-On (Mac) and (Win) are missing the manual downloads.

Only the original Mesh Grabber (Win) and Mesh Grabber Morph Editor (Win) have an installer for manual downloads.

And yet my MacMini M4 does have the full suite installed. How can I make a copy of the installers?

And why have the installers disappeared from the Product Library pages?

On another subject, someone mentioned copying Genesis Starter Essentials, you might consider Genesis 2 Starter Essentials as well. Only a few at the end had Iray materials.

    AsuCafe said:

I've only just noticed this product (I joined relatively late). I've seen some people say it's already part of Premier. Where do I activate this product? Or can I find the tutorial PDF?

    1. Make sure you have the current version of Daz Studio Alpha 2025
    2. Install the Shape Transfer 2025 from DIM
    3. Open Daz Studio Alpha... load your Genesis 8 for example and the generic Genesis 9 from Genesis 9 Essentials
    4. Select them both and go to Top Menu>Edit>Figure>Shape Transfer
    5. Let it do its magic

  • [Solved]Changed Install Location. Plugins and Render are causing errors

As noted I moved my Daz3D location due to a hard disk failure. Now when I render to a preview window the program can't create it's own "r.png" to save/show results. The face transfer plugin also tries to create temp folders for morphs and textures in the old location, resulting in a complete failure. Will someone please point me to maybe an ".ini" location [or whatever I need to update] that will let Daz3D know how to find it's new default directories?

I've been searching for solutions with zero results so far.

Just some portrait of Sylvia 9 in her dryad form. I enhanced it a little bit with Twiggant for Genesis 9, the The FoliageMaker and some other stuff. And then I ran wild with a lot of morph sliders wink

    Greeting the sun

That is delightful, and a good use of the assets.

  • Daz 3D Receives Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games

    Daz_Jessica said:

We’re excited to announce that Daz is a recipient of an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games! This allows us to provide a better experience when you use the Daz to Unreal Bridge and other Daz products.

    What Is an Epic MegaGrant?

Epic Games awards these specialized grants to support those who are innovative in their use of the Unreal Engine and/or bettering the 3D graphics community. This includes game developers, enterprise professionals, media and entertainment creators, students, educators, and tool developers.

In our case, we have the Daz to Unreal Bridge available for free that allows creators to transfer their Daz assets into the Unreal Engine and work from there. Not only is it incredibly easy to use, but it also gives Unreal Engine users access to our versatile and customizable character platform. This fits Epic Games’ description of a project that solves tough problems and improves workflows. We’re very grateful to receive an Epic MegaGrant!

Epic MegaGrants is a $100 million program designed to service and assist game developers, enterprise professionals, media and entertainment creators, students, educators, and tool developers doing outstanding work with Unreal Engine or enhancing open-source capabilities for the 3D graphics community.

    What’s Next?

We’re very grateful to receive an Epic MegaGrant as it will help us improve the Daz to Unreal Bridge and add new features. Plus, we plan to convert thousands more of our products and characters as we kick start the storytelling process for Unreal Engine users.

Want to know more about Epic MegaGrants and the application process? Visit this website, and if you have additional questions, have a look at these FAQs.

If you want to start working in the Unreal Engine, check out how you can use Daz Studio for faster game development in Unreal.

It's about time Santa came to DAZ. Merry Christmas! Thank you guys for so many years of freebies. It's great to see DAZ receiving a freebie! Congrats!

  • [solved] Diffeomorphic - How to import the non standard Morphs?

    Genesis 9
How to import the non standard Morphs?
Such as PTF Life - Angry, etc.

I tried to use Favorite morphs.
I selected some morphs as fav.
But then what get's imported is nothing I've selected.

It just import the same standard FACS morphs.
    ****
After reading other thread, it turns out pose control is not a morph.
But it can still be imported to blender by using custom morph.
I just need to get the path
And select all the files using import custom morph in blender.
Not sure if clicking as favorite is needed though.

  • Gag Christmas Pen Freebie

Hey everyone! I got into the last-minute holiday spirit and wanted to share something a bit funny (and potentially very useful for those 'oops' renders) with the community.

The JD Christmas Pen is a fully functional gag prop. It uses a custom script that triggers when you use the 'Activate Pen Tip' property and will knock your socks off (and more!)

    What's inside:

    • Christmas Pen Prop (with animated button and nib)
    • Wearable Presets for Genesis 9 (Left and Right hands)
    • 4 Hand Poses (Writing and Button-Pressing states for Left and Right hands)
    • The Magic: Dialing the morph animates the button and nib, but the magic happens when you dial above 0.5. At that point it switches the texture on the pen from fully clothed to a naughtier amount of clothing. For extra giggles, as a bonus feature it hides the clothing on every figure in your scene!

Perfect for office party mishaps, 'Naughty List' renders, or just a quick way to clear a scene for a new outfit!

    Grab it at https://dazstudioexperts.com/christmas-pen-freebie/

  • Content Directory Question

I have almost 4tb on my external drive. I just move them over when I back up or need a new drive.  Its basically drag and drop and then change the paths in DIM so it can find everything .  I did recently have to reload all of my content via DIM as one of my hard drives failed halfway through the runtime texture transfer.  I lost a lot of my art work and a lot of the textures for assets I earned doing promo work.  Then I had to redo all of the content from other sites.  Took a fair amount of time. I do highly recommend you get a second back up drive, and move everything to that as well, because there is not telling when one will go out.  I had one that lasted years and then I had the more recent one fail in the middle of a backup that wasn't that old.

  • Hard Drive full. Advice wanted

    Hello,

So if I'm following correctly I can transfer from one drive to another when full or simply have two drives for content.

I have a very large third party content that would have to be re installed manualy :(

I would rather keep this separate and just DL or transfer Daz content which is easier.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

    Thanks

  • [Released] Blender to Daz Studio Plugin released!!! Official support thread [Commercial]

The scene is just too big to be converted by the plugin.

I have noticed many times, that even if the scene loads just fine to Blender,

it does not means automatically that it will convert to Daz Studio by the plugin.

I really appreciate, that we can easily choose subset of the scene in Blender and transfer only it.

...yeah, GenX/GenX2 along with utilities like Zev0's XTransfer and Skin Builder are sort of my "bread and butter" toolls for original custom, character design.  This is the primary reason I pretty much let the G9 train drop me off at the next station as there is little to no compatibility with older generation characters in this respect,

I may just stay with 4.x.x, not only because of having access to 3DL, but also the tools above I depend on.

The good thing about GenX, XTransfer and Skinbuilder is that they do not have to be run when building a scene to render. You can transfers morphs or generate skins in an older version of DS, then use the generated assets inside a more modern version of DS.

...actually GenX and XTransfer add morph channels and as they likely will not be supported in Daz "whatever".  Not sure that the controls will transfer over to the new version since those plugins will not be supported by the new SDK (particularly GenX as the creator passed on a while back and there was never an update for G8).

The only way I am able to use the GenX morphs with G8 is through XTransfer.  Sadly the latter was not updated to G9, most likely because of the return to the "unisex" mesh base  This is also likely the reason we have not seen a Skin Builder 9 either.

Moving to a totally new SDK tends to break everything until PAs update plugins and scripts to function with it.

I am not sure what you mean by morph channels, I thought that was a Poser only thing. Both Gen X and XTransfer create dsf files for the morphs and these are already supported in DS 2025. I have used both characters with GenX and XTransfer morphs in 2025 and they work just fine. There are a number of scripts and plug-ins I am concerned about in DS 2025, however GenX and XTransfer are not one of those.

...apologies, I meant morph sliders.  Normally that sort of thing would not work under a new SDK until the plugin/script was updated.

Morph sliders are part of DS itself and are not part of any plug in. Sliders that work in DS 4 work just fine in DS 2025.

A morph that requires an active plug in could in theory not work in a latter version but that does not apply to the morphs created by Gen X or XTransfer. They are needed to move the morphs between generations, but after that they are not required to even be installed to use the transferred morphs.

  • Looking for shorts for a G8F

I could have done that, but one of the laces in the top deformed badly when autofitting (why I didn't investigate), so I decided to take the V4 top and G8F into blender, and just fit it there.

When I then realised that Daz couldn't simulate it, I guessed that there might be some double vertecex. And cleaining that up in blender is easy. After that is was just a new transfer to G8F and it was good. It is only the laces that has dynamic strength for simulation. I furthernore lowered gravity to 0.1, else the laces would bend downwards.

That's interesting, @Felis, thanks. Am I right, that when you cut out the things you tried but didn't work, you'd 1) autofit to G8, 2) export as obj, 3) merge vertices in a modeller and export as a new obj, 4) import the new obj into DS, 5) then convert to figure, and 6) transfer rigging from G8F? Hope I've got that right. Regards, Richard.

@Write Idea Will this do?  The poles on the nail tips are tricky to remove and this is quick and dirty, but hopefully will help.

Just download the zip file, unzip to your root folder and you will find the shape presets under People/Genesis 9/Shapes/NewGuy/NG REM FN .  Alternatively the morph is under Actor/Hands/NG RemFN.

    Merry Christmas!

Edit to add: I'm not sure how the textures will respond to this as the old UVs still apply, might be some distortion.  Let me know how it works out!

@NewGuy, this is beyond perfect. Thank you so much! I'm going to make the textures in Substance Painter, so I should be able to adjust for any disformaties in the maps.

I'm glad I bought so many of your products! I have all of your "Build Your Own" pose sets for G9 (and a few for G8), and "Faces Of" expressions sets. They are a wonderful go-to sets. So easy to use. I'm gonna go pick up your Stool Pose set just for your generosity!
