  • Transfer/import ALL maps between programs using Diffeomorphic

This is a hybrid Daz3D/Blender question, because I'm not sure which program is doing it. I've been using Diffeomorphic to import Daz models into Blender for some time now. I've been having an issue where certain models are not importing with all the textures that others may have. For example, on some, it may have toenails, but not fingernails. Others, it has a mouth, but not teeth. Another common one (especially since using G8.1) is the eyes - sometimes the model will have Sclera, Irises, Pupils, and Corneas individually. In others, the Sclera and Irises are one, and no Corneas is present. Is this due to some kind of preset using the model's textures in Daz, or is Blender "losing" the files somehow in transit?

  • G9 Items on G8

Even with clones, they can be problematic, especially dresses. When a conversion with autofit fails I do the following:

Load the figure the clothing originally belongs to and delete all the addons. Dial the G8 clone shape into the original figure and pose as close to G8 as possible. Change clothing to base res and fit to the figure. Hide the figure and export the clothing as an obj.

Load G8 figure, import the obj and fit to G8 using Transfer Utility as normal. Using Transfer Utility again, transfer the morphs from the original item. If the item was dforce, give the G8 one a dforce modifier. Copy the dforce settings from the original to the G8. Convert item to subd and save.

This works for all those figures that you have clones for.

The touchable products should have better preview thumbnails, at least. The cropped letters make them skippable because I often don't recognize hair by the names, only by the looks.

Yeah, I was wondering if something messed up on import? Because only seeing part of a title of stylized letters tells me NOTHING (visually) about whether I'm interested or not, and no way am I going to click on all that just to see if I might like it. And it just looks... cheap and ill-coded.

The thumbnails were most likely automatically created when importing the product by cropping the central part of main promo image in the desired aspect ratio. Which doesn't work at all for a lot of wolfie's products which don't use the usual Daz promo format for the main promo.

  • Render starts then IRAY rend error and ends, Render is clearly not done all samples.

One thing jumps out, "Geometry import (1 triangle object with 35 M triangles, 1 instance)"... What is that?
DS likes quads better than triangles, and 35 million triangles is insane amount.

When rendering, do you use Iray in your viewport as well?

  • Studio + Diffeo + HEAT + WINE

Had a good call with Stav from HEAT and was able to get some things working. After getting Charolette 8 in the T pose and dressed in All That Glitters (at least the dress portion, shoes will come later), she was exported from Studio (under WINE) to Blender 4.0 (under Linux) via Diffeo. Easy Import seems to be the only option, not sure why, but it worked. Downloaded the "Wave Over" animation from HEAT, applied to a new Armature and then targetted to Charlotte. So far, it ain't looking too bad.

This is a screenshot of a frame 66 (of 250) render. Will let the animation render all night. Hopefully Blender will stop crashing.

    Rendered in Cycles.

  • Render starts then IRAY rend error and ends, Render is clearly not done all samples.

I lastly assumed it was old drivers, was on 546, but I just updated to the latest Nvidea Drivers (using DDU) as of today but The issue remains. So I am going to come here and ask, maybe there is something I can try because I am seriously depressed that I have made 0 progress all weekend.

I have 2 G8 characters in the scene, interior scene and I thought it initially was because the second character is using the Fantasy Skins 8.1 because it felt like all these issue started after introducing the fantasy skins

G81F and G81M, the Male is using the fantasy skins, I rendered a few PNGs before this where the G81M was not skin colored but now that the G8M is, I am having an issue like this every 2nd or 3rd render, need to restart and reload the scene to be able to render again.
    https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-skins-for-genesis-81-males

Scene uses about 10,329MB according to HWInfo, I grabbed the number after the Rendering starts as I know it inflates (went from 3GB to 11GB)

    DAZ 3D 4.22.0.16
    AMD 3950X
    64GB RAM
    RTX 3090
    Windows 11 64-bit

  • Daz to Blender Bridge - Meet the Team

    druc said:

Hi, Is there an option to send Blender files, including the animated parts of Blender props to Daz via the bridge. I'm not a big user of Blender, I only downloaded it years ago because a talented person made several Matt Smith Tardis interiors. I would love to use them in Daz Studio.

The bridge is from Daz Studio to Blender, not vice versa. That said, the current Daz Studio Beta has had many improvements made to its FBX import so it may be worth trying that route.

  • Daz to Blender - Diffeomorhpic Import Pose

    Hi everyone!

This is my first time posting here so sorry if I miss some details that are required when submitting.

I'm trying to use the diffeomorphic addon to import poses from Daz to Blender but each time I import a pose, I'm unable to edit the character in pose mode. The character was immediately imported with the MHX rig if that helps through Easy Import.

Parts of the rig disappear, and even when I turn them back on in the Object Data Properties tab I just can't move them. The poses import fine, but sometimes they don't and need corrections but I can't change them.

Not sure how to post images in here but this is a link to what's going on: https://imgur.com/a/QecrTVI

Is there something I'm missing? Thank you!

  • lilflame

Well, guess I already own 90% of the lilflame stuff which made it's way from Rendo to DAZ. So probably need to use the browser extension to hide all those products I own from store listings.

Little finding: Is DAZ using the mature-filter to become a little more "revealing" finally? Don't know if it is just a matter of bulk import which will be curated later on. But there are quite some new lilflame products which showcase the reveal-morphs included with the products not only with clay models but though final renders. Not that I mind the slightest. lilflame's promos are IMO top notch and tasteful, whatever is shown. So I hope it stays that way :-)

  • Rendo migrations and the risk of duplicate purchases

When I buy any 3D product, I download any documentation available about it. That includes freebies. I then put that into my files that mimic Smart Content structure. Yesterday, knowing that I had bought many of Fabiana's products, I looked up the two I wasn't sure about and yep, not purchased yet. So into my cart they went.

Now I am in the middle of adding metadata and the thumbnails, which for some reason DAZ failed to do. Thankfully her Content Library organization is clean and I am working with that to assign the metadata.

And for what it is worth, The Tywill necklace fit G9 easily when I was testing something.

  • Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - ongoing thread

I don't dislike Daz's SBH editor. It's basic, but ultimately I did decide that what I churned out of it was better than the hair I'd previously created in Blender - the problem for me was that with standard SBH I couldn't control where the hair was growing without having to save out a separate version of the hair for every single scene that I did. (You can load in new generation maps into the editor, but they're not saved into the scene, and are lost when you reload, which is a huge hassle if you need to use Render Queue or similar).

As such, I had to go through a really quite tedious process of converting it to a UV mapped geometry, and it's not possible to use the OmniHair shader like I'd originally intended.

But yes, one way or another, the standard SBH is missing a lot of features more than just being able to simulate; can't save generation maps into the scene on a hair level, can't apply override maps at the shader level, can't import it without the special tools. So that's a big part of why you'll see hair that doesn't need simulation that's in the dHair format.

  • Is there a way to make a shortcut icon in the Daz models directories to load PS models?

@Lyn_Buchanan - Creating custom actions and putting them into your Favorites, Scripts or other menu is a good way to find frequently needed  items.  Those menus allow you to create sub menus if desired when you need a bit more organization in them.  However, if you have a lot of items that you want to quickly locate, another tool is to use Create a Product from … feature in Daz Studio.  When you create a product, you can add items to it from one installed content item or from as many different installed content items as you wish.

    1. For example, the first image below is from a wardrobe item in my Poser content library in my Content Library.  It came from Renderosity and I manually installed the files in my Poser Library to which Daz Studio is also pointed via the Content Directory Manager.

    2. I can right-click on the item’s folder in the left side of the Content Library and select Create a Product from … (second image) to create a new product containing all of the files in the folder.

    3. Or I can right-click on individual items (as few or as many as desired; I have selected three in the third image) on the right side of the Content Library and select Create a Product from …to create a new product containing the selected files.

    4. A newly created product will appear in Smart Content initially without an image icon; it will show the default ! icon because there is no icon image file yet for new product to use.

    5. It will be helpful to sort your Smart Content by Sort by Install Date : Recent First so that the default icon is at the top of the Smart Content pane.

    6. You can easily the new product’s icon image from any image that you download or render and save by using the information in the new product’s metadata.

    7. Because the files were manually installed and not using the Daz Install Manager (DIM), when the new product is created, it has a dsx file name that begins with LOCAL_USER followed by whatever you named the new product.  Name the image file that you wish to use as a product icon in Smart Content by using everything from LOCAL_USER up to but not including .dsx.  End the image filename with .jpg to create a JPG file if it is not already a JPG file.

    8. Move the image file to your Runtime/Support folder in your Daz Studio content library.  In Smart Content, refresh the listing (right click on All Products and click Refresh) for the icon to be shown.

    Matt_Castle said:

I'd be content if all the standard SBH was missing was the dForce (although it would be limiting from a perspective of draping and posing long hair), but when it's also missing a load of the mapping parameters, converting it to full dHair makes a lot of sense. (Certainly more practical than converting it to geometry, but I didn't have a choice about that, Daz don't let us mortals have the dHair tools).

I would argue that the most important thing missing from DS's SBH tool is the ability to import your own curves. There are all kinds of tools in other programs for creating hair, but as I understand it, only a PA would be able to take hair made in another program and convert it to SBH inside DS.

  • Latest version of Carrara SDK on DAZ site?

Interesting, I asked following question while talking to copilot on bing and here is the answer:

What are the benefits of using Carrara 3D SDK?

Certainly! The Carrara 3D SDK offers several benefits for developers and creators who want to extend the capabilities of the Carrara 3D software:

    1. Custom Plugin Development:

      • With the Carrara 3D SDK, you can create custom plugins tailored to your specific needs.
      • These plugins can enhance existing features, automate tasks, or introduce entirely new functionality to Carrara.
      • Whether you’re building tools for modeling, animation, rendering, or other aspects of 3D content creation, the SDK provides the framework to do so.
    2. Integration with Carrara Workflow:

      • By using the SDK, you can seamlessly integrate your custom tools and extensions into the Carrara workflow.
      • This means that your plugins become part of the user interface, allowing artists and designers to access them directly within the software.
      • Integration ensures a cohesive experience for users who rely on Carrara for their 3D projects.
    3. Extendable Features:

      • Carrara’s core features are powerful, but the SDK allows you to take them further.
      • You can extend existing tools, modify behavior, or create entirely new panels and dialogs.

  • Blender to DAZ or Carrara

Importing materials from blender to daz studio would be impossible, unless we limit it to the principled shader. For the rig it's the same we could only import basic bones, eventually. There was the exporter by Millighost doing this but I don't know if it is up to date or maintained anymore.

    https://github.com/millighost

Another option is to use poser to export the cr2: blender > fbx > poser pro > cr2 > daz studio.

  • Daz Favorites to Diffiomorphic import.

You mark the favorites in daz studio, then export as usual, then in blender with easy import select the "daz favorites" option. Simple as that.

This should be in the blender discussion though.

  • Daz Favorites to Diffiomorphic import.

Trying to figure out the Diffiomorphic import favorites and it goes somewhere looking for something.Checked all over Daz interface looking for a save favorites (marking the heart) but could find nothing. Is this what diffio is looking for? and how do I find where to save what diffio wants?

    Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] Eyes morph - Morph Loader - Scaling is right but it moves wrongly

That sounds like a scaling mis-match between export and import, or as if there was a morph applied to the exported geometry and not reversed out of the imported morph (the reverse deformations option, assuming the morph was still applied on import).

  • daz to Blender bridge issue with exporting

I have installed the Daz to Blender bridge add on and it used to work fine. But now I am having some variation of this error message whenever I try to import a model animation in Blender:

    enter image description here

If anyone has an idea why this is the case please let me know :)))
