XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)
Worked fine for me (see attachment). Also there is no need to favourite the head and body if you favourite the main character dial. They will automatically be added. Also things like navel and nipple are transferred if the character or body dial uses those morphs. You can manually unselect them in the linked morphs list.
Will favouriting the main character dial result in having separate head, body, and character dials, or will it only transfer a character dial?
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2Eros for M4 by StudioArtVartanian is one of two celebrity liknesses I impulse-bought during a sale a few days ago. He's a really good Alexander Skarsgard. Unfortunately a lot of the sculpting got lost during the transition to G8. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong but I find GenX to be a rather blunt tool sometimes...
I tried to dial-spin his face back into shape but I think I might have accidently ended up with a 80% Skarsgard, 20% Gosling...

Not sure how much more work I'll put into this. I have a very handsome character here and that alone makes me happy!
Still, feedback on how I can get a closer likeness is welcome!
How did you manage to transfer an M4 character to G8?! I'm trying to use GenX to transfer a G1 character to G2 to no avail. If you could point me in the right direction, even if you can't give me a step-by-step, I'd be much obliged.
P.S. I read the readme, but whatever problem I'm having seems to have fallen into the cracks.
Oh man, I feel like I'm not the person you should be talking to... I use GenX by the seat of my pants, I don't really know what I'm doing or what most of those settings are. So take everything I say with a grain of salt.
- Under source select the original base figure, in your case that will be Genesis.
- Drag-and-drop your character into the little window. If that doesn't work, click Apply Pose and go look for your character that way.
- Select -> On for all non-zero values
- Target -> Genesis 2 Male
- At the very bottom of the window click Path and select/create a folder that makes sense to you. That's where the morph files are going to be saved to.
- Click Transfer, get on your knees, and pray...
Identify a CharacterHello Daz folks,
I’m wondering if anyone can help me identify a particular figure. Mihrelle used this figure to model this flat-top hair product (please see screen shot.) The listing in the product description mentions Owen, Lucas, Ollie, and the Brute, but this face looks like none of those… or am I mistaken? Perhaps it’s a morph mix that combines two of them? Any guesses?
XTransfer Module 1- Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Morph Converter (Commercial)I've used this product several times recently without any problems. I load G3 base, I favourite the morphs (full character + head + body), I load the script, then I just click transfer morphs. I tend to only do one character at a time. I don't mess around with anything else, I just let it do it's thing. It's never given me any problems before but it's started behaving strangely.
1. One character transfer created some new file structure solely for the PNGs of that character's morphs. See attached image. The folder 'My Librarydata' did not exist before and contains nothing other than the PNGs for that one character's morphs.
It also appeared to link a lot of seemingly unrelated morphs, mostly navels and nipples of other characters (not Daz base characters either, just 3rd party characters) for some reason. No navel or nipple morphs were favourited and I can't see any reason any of those additional characters would be linked to the character I was transferring.
2. The next characer I attempted to transfer fails with the message "Error moving morph file, exiting".
I've done another transfer since and that worked completely normally. It didn't error/fail, it didn't add a pile of extra morphs, and it didn't put the PNGs into the new file structure like the one above.
Holt 8: The West Gone Wild / WeirdIn the past offers for the free HD morph with Pro Bundle purchase it was automatically added to my product library, so it didn't occur to even add it to my cart and checked out without it. I'm sure it will get added to my product library one way or the other.

Holt 8: The West Gone Wild / WeirdSeams a fairly good deal to me, aside from all the recycled content, seams Daz is taking after some game developers (I'm looking at you Bungie). With the three banners and the $30 credit rebate you can get both bundles for the price of just the main one. What I'm wondering about though is how you get the HD add-on for free. I put it in the cart but no joy there, asking $20. Are you supposed to leave it out? The page says all items simultaneously. I mean, it is probably one of the weakest HD add-ons I've seen, so it's not like it's all that much of an loss or incentive, I'll likely use a different character's one anyway to give him some definition. The face adds a bit, but the rest.... there's barely even any wrinkles in his hands which i where I find the most use in those addons, hands and feet, with lips being a close third.
All in all though, I like him a lot, as well as the characters. For $35-$40 bucks I'd say the characters alone are worth it to me. Gonna give it a night's sleep before pulling the trigger though to see about that HD thingy.
P.S. Buying that Horse Bundle all that time ago has sure paid off, there have been so many discounts from having that already... I can think of like three now at least. And for newer people that don't have some of that stuff already a pair of cowboy bundles is a great place to pick them up. Just wish there was maybe a new horse (character? morph?) or saddle or something to go along with it for those of us that have the noble steed already.

Sade's Thread [Commercial]hullo, omg, i did not work for eons. from september hopefully i will be more active.

i bought a new pc (parts) since it begun turned very slow (and my wacom was stolen, so i was brave enough for dream big, and i bought a cintiq.. and now i wait black friday or something for buy a stand for it, lol). so. the new pc is not working, because the build in video card is disabled by standard, and cant be turn on without video card. if i take out my video card from "old" pc, i cant work in installing and data transfer phase.. (if you plan to buy new video card, DONT DO! the nvidia 3080 will be released in september, and you can buy that, or lot of lot of almost no used video card will be sell, because everybody want buy the new 3080. Im not sure, probably i will buy a used cheap 2080, since my wallet is negative after buy new cpu, and motherboard, and stuffs. (but if you can afford, buy a 3080, go for it, really, its more than promising). My kids go school hopefully finally from september (they are at home since march because of covid). i really wait it. they doesnt. :D
learn new thing is allways good, i learned export normals from zbrush, what will be super useful, and i begin handling and using udims as well (i need uv mapper for it, since very few modeller take care about udim ). but with it the work is more easy. also learned a bit more marvelous designer, cant wait to release them. if you wish an outfit, shoot, i try make it, at least exercising. next task is learning making shoes. :D
old ones.
i couldnt resist, and made few more pc+ item update, cant say more, but i cant wait their release. :D
releases.
holt is out. i made two outfit, the brawler, and the sunset rider. comments and suggessions are allways welcome.
im super proud to ponchos, and i really want to make a poncho shader set, but i know it would sell terrible (i have curse about my shaders, they are sell awful). but if its on me, i would make 1000 ponchos. :D if you make a closer look you will notice the perfect harmony about pattern and material (some is painted, some is sewed) (sunset cowboy)
Brawler and texture addon

AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO?

Parlando dello store... Anche questa settimana, nuova figura. Mi sento preso in giro.
Holt 8: The West Gone Wild / WeirdI like the Harold and Old Jeb characters. I find it hard to match skin when trying to get similar results with morph dials.

In particolare
Potete immaginare di fare render senza Look At Me, per esempio?
- Tesla3dCorp secondo me fa le scarpe a chiunque quanto a interni!

Yeah, in the end a ticket will get it for you if need be. I wish the store software didn't make so much work for those poor CS people though, or there was a better way to translate the Dazanesse writing on the sales pages. I feel bad every time I write them a ticket, which I've never done so much as I do here.

better posing? The bent wrists in the foreground of your image? For a power stroke with a broadsword or longsword? You want the wrist to be more straight.
I'm not sure why they are leaping and leaning forward like that. (There could be a reason, but it's not obvious.) It's easier to generate more power when you're well grounded. It all begins with good footwork. Leaping and jumping can be done, but if there's a purpose, it's not obvious. Sword is very singular like that.
Maybe watch good sword fights in the movies or sword style martial arts clips on youtube. Power starts with good feet, being well grounded, and being able to transfer the energy through to the blade. Many muscles between feet and hand, and in coordination with the blade (as an extension of the body).
Sorry, I mean for them to be flying. i don'tb have the wings yet either so i igured I'd prepare a pose while i hunt and wait for stuff.
I'm actually experienced with weapons martial arts.i just can't see that well and posing isn't my strong area. that's why i was asking for a favor if anyone has the time. not that i don't want to do it myself...

Random "missing pieces"Mabel 8 is just a morph of Genesis 8 Female. The morphs are in the data folder, which is not a user facing folder (i.e. use doesn't interact with it directly and it isn't shown in the Content Library). You will find morph sliders for Mabel 8 in the Parameters pane. The preset to load the Mabel 8 character will load Genesis 8 Female, dial the Mabel 8 morph sliders automatically and apply the Mabel 8 materials. Does that not work for you?
DIM CSV FilesDAZ Connect only caused me headaches. The biggest problem was that I have over 13k of products. So the menus were a nightmare.
Then when I did use it, the database collapsed and I had to reinstall everything because none of the content would come up. I don't remember the details as it was a few years ago... but my red eyed rabid rantings of insanity are archived somewhere in these forums.
This is why I am so motivated to try and find some sort of solution.
The 13k of products makes sorting through them virtually impossible. So I am constantly browsing the online catalog to see thumbnails, check compatibilities, etc. I keep DIM constantly running so that I can then filter my items by the title. Installing just the ones I need at that time.
The amount of content is such that I have to keep the DIM download packages on an external drive. I have also taken to installing non-essential items (props, lights, shaders, for example) to an external drive for easy access. (Before anyone comments on the speed of that, I have a M3 SSD drive connected to a USB3 port, so its almost as fast as an internal drive.)
Going back to my original example... G8F characters; I have 600+ of them. Just think about how many morph dials that is. I look back at the old days of "inject morphs" with a fondness now.
All of this means I need to be conservative about what I install. So I try to only install things like Lights and Shaders. Everything else gets installed as needed.
DIM CSV FilesIt can be done with a bit of programming I believe but only for installers already downloaded (at least with the method I'm thinking of).
That's the frustration I have... The data exists, but its not being used. If the data didn't exist then you wouldn't be able to browse the store in the Places > Structures > Interiors manner (for example).
If I tell DIM to select all items from a CSV, then it should ignore items that are in the CSV but not in my downloaded assets. So if there were complete lists of the assets in certain categories, then it would be simple to use those in conjunction with DIM.
Well you don't need data for other products than those you own, so if you have all the installers downloaded the necessary data is there. The latest version of DAZ Product Manager is using these data to locate products in the DS categories as you probably know, it's the same principle just a slightly different context.
Well, I was mentioning content I didn't own because I was hoping that there was some sort of data file for all of the content. That way the CSV files would be universal.
It just irritates me to no end that in the store I can go:
Shop > People and Wearables > Genesis 8 People > Female... Then see all of the characters available. Easily being able to see which ones I own.But in DIM, all we have is People > Generation 8... Which is, frankly, useless as it only shows the base Gen 8 characters.
Install Manager has access to the package infomation, I think that's just the entries in the .dsx file. it doesn't have access to store data such as the categories. In any event there is not an exact one-to-one correspondence betwnn DIM packages and store products.
Understood.
But the classification / sort data has to exist somewhere. Otherwise the website would not be able to be sorted at all.
Currently DIM provides next to no filtering of any substantial use.
Now we come to what is motivating my efforts here... The abundance of Gen 8 Female characters with no way to filter them from being installed. If one is installed, the morph dials are installed. If the morph dials are installed then they load every time any G8F model is added to a scene. The more characters installed the bigger the hit on the model.
At this point I am willing to take the time to create a pivot table or a conversion database just to correlate the existing classification database into a DIM compatible CSV file.
I understand that the packages don't automatically contain this classification information... though it baffles me as to why. But I am not going to beat a dead horse or gansh my teeth over it. I'd rather try to find a solution with the skills that I do have at hand.
Mystique 2 & Expansions for G8F [Commercial]It would be great if you could at some point create a morph to adjust each Strappy Garter strap individually.
