What's the Best Way to Make VICTORIA 3 Skin Look Great in IRAY?

I think it might be memory versus actual result. I know stuff that I look at from V3 days would not hold up well at all to the current standard.
It's not my memory idealizing the look of those old renders. I still have the renders, and I still have the V3 textures. They looked magical in Poser - and they look hideous in IRAY. I just want to know what product to buy, or what proceedure I use to get them back to looking sensational. A lot of those old textures were hand painted by actual humans. It's like the difference between the look of a 1939 3-strip Technicolor film like Gone With the Wind or The Wizard of Oz, and a contemporary film, or Kodachrome film and a cell phone photo.
Iray is very unforgiving and a load less painterly and forgiving... It is a complex mix of technological advancement and aesthetic choices. Fortunately, if you don;t mind tinkering, you coudld render using 3delight. If you want to render in Iray, I would suggest that you get the NGS 2 Freebie script and N.G.S. Anagenessis II - Revolution when it is on sale, thoroughly read its manual, and use the manual script to convert the surfaces.
For 3Delight, what product or method works the best - to render Victoria 3 textures?

Thank you! It might be worth a try on mixing some! And yeah I did look at Lord of the Deep but I wasn't sure if I could morph him at all. It may be a dream that's a little put of reach!Ascania said:https://www.daz3d.com/sy-lamia-genesis-for-8-and-81

Need help on pores render, I never got any poreI realized that I never ever got an iray render with pores, which means my work is not realistic, sad. I tried many figures, HD figures, SubD4, Skin detail resources, PBR Skin, add Base Bump map and Normal map, etc., as one example shown below, the Victoria 8 HD never shows her pores, like some advertisement pictures in the store.
What should I do? Please help.
Genesis 9 male anatomical elements (with Starter Essentials) missing texturesI have both Genesis 9 and the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials Expansion, but I'm missing textures for the male genitalia. I thought Genesis 9 Starter Essentials was supposed to include these?
Applying the G9 masculine skin texture to the figure with genitalia leaves the genitalia grey and textureless, and I cannot find the textures for the genitals anywhere. I also have the Victoria 9 character and that includes textures for male genitalia, but it doesn't match the Genesis 9 base male textures
Can anyone help? Am I missing something?Buying more G9 or G8/8.1 Daz products these days?Masterstroke said:

Honest question to those, who like Genesis 9.
Where do you see the benefits and improvement over G 8.1?
Honest answer: The eyes, the 8k Normals Detail map, the non-Genesis-looking head morphs in the hands of a small few creators, namely, the artist(s) behind Victoria 9, Angela 9, & Freja 9. The drawbacks have already been listed.
This not specific to G9. You can create 8k normal maps and unique face and body morphs even for G2.
It should be something that is a feature of the figure itself.
Such as:
Grouping
Rigging
Mesh topology
Mesh resolution
Joint bending
Default pose
Size
Proportions
Unisex mesh
UV layoutGot it. Well, at least my answer was good for your first goalpost.

Buying more G9 or G8/8.1 Daz products these days?I wasn't sure about V9's freckles at first, but I like doing portraits and the portrait I did of her with her freckles got the most likes in the gallery I've ever had, which is kind of ironic.
I've heard the various complaints about G9 but I like G9. I just have more G8 content than G9 and also and a tiny bit of 8.1 content to play with. I thought Victoria 8.1 was pretty so I got her on a deep discount during some sale quite a long time after she debuted.Joan 9FSMCDesigns said:

Since today is woman's day, I'm going to bring this up. I'm wondering if there are any female character artists on staff at DAZ. Except for Victoria 7, Victoria 9, Jaqueline 8, and Thorne characters, most of the female DAZ core characters are not particularly attractive and I've noticed in general, that women tend to create more attractive female characters than men. I noticed this in comic books a lot. They can create great sexy bodies, but not faces so much. Of course there are men who create gorgeous female characters but I find it kind of rare. Whenever I see a beautiful PA character, I automatically assume a female created it and I'm usually right. Sorry if this is off-topic but Im just stumped why the Daz core female characters are so unattractive and how really awful some of the makeup especially is. No woman would create the ugly makeup I've seen on some core characters! I just hope they get more female character creators on staff at DAZ.
I feel we are on the same page as far as tastes, probably because of our environment and what we see daily as opposed to many others on the forum. I get the feeling though that if we wait for DAZ to create a swimsuit model type of core figure, they will probably botch it, LOL. Luckily it's easy to create your own instead of waiting for something that may not ever come
I really liked V7 for pretty much everything but she was way too recognizable. I use the body of V7 for V8 dialed in a bit sometimes and the Pretty Base shape although I preferred the V4 Pretty base shape to later versions (not the face.) I think we both prefer the Victoria's Secret type model look although I also like the smaller breasted tall sophisticated runway/Vogue model shape. And yes, I see both types all the time in person here in LA (and did some modeling myself in my teens/20's
) For me, I prefer to use really beautiful characters or the direct opposite, complete caracatures, but something in the middle, average looking like Joan doesn't really serve my purposes. It's very easy to make a character look average but harder to create interesting non-Barbie looking beautiful characters like Mousso does. Some people on the forums seem to assume that all beauty is Botox/filler Kardashian look when in actuality distinct interesting features can make a model more beautiful. I often watch (now reruns) of America's Next Top model to inspire me.
Buying more G9 or G8/8.1 Daz products these days?I've seen renders of Victoria 9, Angela 9, & Freja 9 (fewer for her) that are more facially photoreal than any Daz characters I've ever seen. If Victoria 9 didn't have hardwired freckles, my G9 issues would be severely lessened,

Not quite what you asked for, but the closest I know of. I use it as the background for most of my Pose Transfer Script promo's, like here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/446941/g8f-pose-transfer-to-aiko-3-victoria-3-gv3

It's tough, Wonderland, people's tastes differ and I find the core characters have a high representation of realistically attractive people. Ariana, Millawana, Jade, Freja 8, Tasha, TWOSRET (my absolute fav babe), Jinax, Victoria 8.1, and Leanne, for example, are all very beautiful to me, where's the ladies you mention I don't personally find that compellling, but can appreciate that they're nice for others.
I think there's absolutely no shortage of attractive core figures, so it all comes down to what one finds attractive.

My controversial 'attractive' wishlist figure is a tall skinny 90s Jodie Kidd shaped lady, but I imagine it may be challenging to promote a figure at that end of the BMI scale. (Maybe they could sell her as zombie supermodel :D)

Not my thing but I do like the two hairs which are for G8 too. Except for Victoria (and Mousso characters), there really haven't been any beautiful characters for G9 yet.
My thoughts also. Still waiting for a skin texture that will blow me away!
What does it mean a character depends on another? It means that the Victoria 9 morphs are used (not necessarily at 100%) as part of the morph mix to create the JeanDoe shape. The morph dial for the character should apply the required amount of the V9 morphs automatically when used.
If you don't have V9, it will apply the other morphs used only so the resulting shape will be different. How different depends on the character.
To give you an idea, there are a few example of characters without the base in this old thread: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/394456/the-dial-them-out-threadRegarding the texture, it depends on the character. Most will include their own textures.
For older generation figures like Genesis 1, 2 or 3: Older generation "named characters" often included their own custom UVs, and textures made for characters "for named figure" sometimes used those UVs too, so their textures would not work properly if you didn't have the required characters.
