I reported this a year ago, with a note (and a pointer to this thread) that others were having the same problem. After forgetting all about me for months, and my nudging them a few times, the ticket was eventually closed last October with a kinda vague "can't reproduce, no-one else is reporting this".
Is this another case of "the helpdesk can't be bothered to help"?
They have actually been trying to work out what it causing it, and are getting closer to solving it. It is difficult because it only affects a minority of people.
If a problem can't be reproduced there isn't much CS can do about it, in all honesty.
What's happened to the forum search? I don't have problems logging in but there is no longer a forum search option just a store search option. Is this going to be fixed soon? I'm glad you find it amusing but not being able to search the forum is incredibly frustrating!
+1, using Firefox on my Win7 PC.
Can we keep "search" questions on the Search threads, and not muddle up the subjects, please.
Sure, can you post a link to one of them because I can't search the forum to find them?

Okay... My contributions:
1- Possums... Evil ones.
2- Space Aliens... Very bored ones.
3- Overlapping Alternate Universes... Very crappy ones.
4- Sasquatch.
5- Robots... Evil self aware ones from a distant future ruled by the DAZ 4D Empire.
6- The CIA... The Chinchilla Internet Association... Not the other one.
7- Shia Labeouf... Probably with some help from Sasquatch.
8- Y2K... Very delayed, but still making trouble.
9- Jar Jar Binks... When in doubt, blame Jar Jar.
10- The Russia Feline Mafia... The sign in/out combined with Internet cat videos and Twitter is all part of their nefarious plan.
I'm gonna stop at 10... But to be honest that sounded like a challenge, so I really could come up with dozens if not hundreds more... With detailed explanations too....but I don't want to take up too much room here.
Incidentally, when I just clicked on this thread I got signed out... The one where it looks like you are signed in (blue icon).... I think that's pretty funny.... Damn Sasquatch.

Maybe someone should sticky-it or whatever is called on the forums.
Sure. This one has the most info in it http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/67781/where-s-the-forum-search-tool
You mean the Culinary Institute of America is innocent?
Exactly... But you didn't hear it from me.
When you log in, you do not stay on the page you were viewing before you logged in. A lot of other sites manage to do this, but not Daz. Sometimes when you log in, it takes you to the store, where Sasquatch hopes you will spend money. Sometimes, it takes you to your account page, for some random reason. When I get a link in email, I tend to have to log in and let it take me to wherever, then go click on the link in the email AGAIN just to get back to where I was.
Quite a few ecommerce sites I regularly shop at take you directly to your account page when you log in...even if you have logged in from your shopping cart or an email. So that is nothing specific to Daz...in fact most of those places seem to think it is the desired/standard behavior.
Most forums, on the other hand, either drop you back to where you were or back to the main page, maybe half for each...again, pretty common to be dropped at the main page.
I've gotten into the habit of bringing up my Library page first, (https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/) If I'm not logged in, I'm redirected to an actual login page. And after I've logged in, I am redirected back to the Library page. After that, I can go anywhere on the site without issue. The whole login/logout thing is only a minor inconvenience now.
However, I've never been logged out during the day unless I've closed my browser, (Firefox,) and even then I'm not always logged out when I come back. (I'll have to pay more attention to the length of time my browser is closed.)
May I suggest switching to vBulletin?
I was kind of hoping that would have been the one they chose for this last round of changes...it's my favorite, too.
Or the Cat investment application?
I'm so confused, i haven't had to login since, well .. i can't remember, ages ago. Win 7/chrome - is this a browser issue?
I have to keep signing in lately because I keep erasing cookies the hard and disturbingly stupid way.
Yep, driving me nuts too.
I vote for a combination of McGuyver's #5, #1, and #3 as the most likely scenario, and would suggest testing efforts concentrate in that area before looking any closer at cookies.
Is there any way to fake it out, like have something automated that will log you out and back in again every hour in the background or something?
I keep eating cookies the hard and disturbingly stupid way too... Blindfolded, wearing a Viking helmet and pink feather boa, walking backwards upstairs carrying a dead donkey... But I don't think it's the cookies that are causing the problem... I'm starting to suspect the cupcakes though.
I use the Check4Change plugin in Firefox on the main store to see when Fastgrab changes or new items come out, haven't used it to keep the forums live as I'm usually checking it regularly.
Ok, thanks.
I rather think it might be the dead donkey.
Randolph?... Naa... He was a good donkey.
Alas, sometimes the ghosts of good people have a hard time adjusting to the whole ectoplasm thing and forget to stay away from high-voltage lines. Sure, they won't admit that a ghost caused the U.S. East Coast blackout a decade ago, but let's just say that ghost-hamster is much more careful now.
happens to me all the time on Firefox, Chrome and Edge browsers...
must be.....
Cookies expiration dates are OK (from days to years in the future) so it is squarely some problem on DAZ side. You log in, DAZ software checks, finds something "wrong" with the data it is getting back from you and logs you out.
@DAZ: next time you look for an enterprise level website/community/e-shop have a look at J2EE consulting firms. You don't build aircraft carriers with cardboard, you use metal. Signed: J2EE consultant, currently already booked.
Darn sign in/out loop did it again, didn't account the time it took to complete as I was fixing my coffee.
