It seeme people are experiencing different things,  almost like personalised bugs.   It is really weird, and hence extremely difficult to track down.

The simple and easy fix would be to remove the JavaScript code that sign us out.

Also a previous poster mentioned something about cloudfare ... From what I remember this has been on going through the last couple of forum software even though it's presented itself in different ways leaving me to think that someone is setting things up (perhaps a java script) to not keep us logged in "forever" for what ever lame brained reason.  I remember in the old forums we were up in arms back then about all this but the cloud fare issue is now we have to deal with this loop thing that sometimes takes up to a full minute to stop after the initial and laughable "Wait just a sec while we log you out" notice appears.  *groan*

Wouldn't that be an easy thing to check by uninstalling JAVA from our systems?

Java and JavaScript are different things. JavaScript is a normal part of any webpage, even if you do not have Java. It's just a name similarity, nothing else.

JavaScript in general is needed for the site to function properly. You could turn it off in the browser, but then the site itself would stop working properly. (Probably would not work at all.) Disabling a PART of javascript on a webpage is more trickier on the user side.

Trust me I'm a seasoned developer and I would temporarily fix it that way and then I would build from scratch the bogus code.

I admit to not knowing much about Javascript but is it possible that there is an old version stuck in the computers of people who are still having issues and that people like myself who do not get logged out by the site have a newer version or the old version was removed at some point in the past?

Yes, ultimately it is a syncing issue.

Updating the browser should take care of that case.

As to the Cloudflare question...yes, it is one of the things that is a contributing factor.  I came up with a list of 4 things that are known to contribute to it...

    1. multiple devices.

    2. Cloudflare and your connection to its servers.  Some people that are equidistant between two Cloudflare locations get bounced a lot.  If you can connect to two CF locations, chances are you will...and that may be enough to trigger an out of sync condition.

    3.  Connection speed...it seems that very fast connections have more problems.  One of the things I was taught a long time ago...if your connection speed is too fast for the page, there are too many scripts running.  This is especially true if one script relies on another, possibly slower to load/execute one.

    4. Caching...the more caching there is between you and the site, the greater chance there is of looping login/odd behavior.

These four are not everything, but from looking at all the threads/posts and actually talking to some people who have this problem, they are what I found to be common factors.

1- I almost never use multiple devices. At least to actually log into the site.

2- Where ever those cloudflare servers are I am pretty sure I am no where near close to one. When the store resets at midnight Daz time it takes on average 20 minutes for the store to fully update for me. Of the people I chat with that time of night I am often the last one to see new items in the store.

3-We have good speed but there are plenty of times that there are so many devices using it that it does not exactly hum.

4- I'm not sure but would guess that there is a fair bit since I am so slow to load the new store stuff.

Whatever is causing it, for me most issues have been sorted, and I hadn't experienced andy signing out thingummy for some time.

And then suddenly, 2 days ago I get a "Signing you out" SIgning you in" thing whilst checking for new comments. Will be working my way down the new comments and suddenly it happens. No Rhyme or reason for it.  And each time it happens it logs me back in on Forum index page, not the new comments Page where I was before.

I know my cloudfare issues always show Atlanta, Georgia.  It will say Cloudfare working though, and not able to connect to the host (DAZ)

At least you stay in the forums.  When I log back in, when the loop stops finally, I get taken to my Account page, not where I want to be.  That's another bug or "feature" they need to fix or change.  Quite annoying!

Hrmmm.. Well I am about 60 miles from Atlanta. How can you tell which cloud flare hubs your going through?

  • mjc1016mjc1016 Posts: 15,001

The easy way is when the site really screws up and you get  dumped to an error page that shows it.  The next is to guess based on the coverage area for Cloudflare.  The locations are listed on the CF site...

When it acts up, it will show the graphics. It has your computer with an arrow pointing right, in the middle is cloudfare (with the name of the city under it) then another arrow going right to the Site.

    Oops, sorry. mjc is faster.

We've now reached the point of total absurdity where the users are trying to pin-point the problem! I'd prefer to know what DAZ are doing about it. Could be that they're frantically working behind the scenes to fix this, but we have no evidence of that. In fact, judging by the results, they appear to be doing nothing at all. That sounds harsh, but what else are we to think?

People keep parroting this mantra of random effect, difficult to track down, etc. I'm sorry. I just don't buy that. Signing into sites has been around for 20+ years. How difficult can it be to get it to work? And more to the point, why doesn't someone from DAZ come in here are tell us it's being looked at? This certainly isn't the first thread on the subject.

Mac.. Are you insinuating I am not being honest? Or disingenuous about the fact that I do not get logged out of the site simply because you still do? I understand your frustrated but your insinuating an awful lot of negative stuff about Daz and others that you have no real proof of.

I think perhaps DAZ may even be employing offsite help too...

Its just a theory, but I'm working on it.

The only problem I've had is the opposite...I CANNOT log out. Without manually erasing my cookies, sometimes it won't let me leave!

People are reporting their real experiences, but the point is, all of us with the problem seem to agree that there is a problem and that it is not up to us to fix it.  And we'd like some indication that there is a sincere and qualified attempt by DAZ to resolve it.  That's the evidence or proof that should be presented. .

If one's feathers get ruffled, one shouldn't sit with his back to the wind.

It was posted to this thread yesterday http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/69551/site-problems   that Daz was aware of problems and was actively working on a fix.  The signing you out/signing you in tthings certainly seems to be less today.

Or people are tired of reporting it.

Me, I've just accepted it as the way of the world and deal. If it ever gets solved, great.
