A.D.A.P.T. — Align • Distribute • Arrange • Place • Transform

v1.0.0

Align • Distribute • Arrange • Place • Transform

A.D.A.P.T. is a compact scene-layout and placement tool for DAZ Studio, built to make common object-positioning jobs faster and easier without constantly jumping between separate controls.

Separate builds are included for DAZ Studio 4.24 and DAZ Studio 2026.

Align

  • Align one or more Movers to a chosen Target.
  • Align on the X, Y, or Z axis.
  • Use object center, origin, bounding-box edges, Center of Mass, or Lowest Mesh Point where appropriate.
  • Align to the World Origin.
  • Align to a custom coordinate.
  • Snap to a user-defined grid interval.
  • Choose nearest, positive, or negative grid rounding.
  • Place objects directly beside a Target using Left, Right, Above, Below, Behind, or In Front contact placement.
  • Add a gap between objects or use a negative value for overlap.
  • Align objects to the center of the current camera view while keeping their existing distance from the camera.

Distribute

  • Distribute Movers evenly along X, Y, or Z.
  • Distribute along angled XY, XZ, or YZ directions.
  • Use a custom 3D direction.
  • Space by object centers, origins, Center of Mass, or bounding-box gaps.
  • Fit the arrangement between the outer objects.
  • Use fixed spacing or fixed gaps.
  • Choose how the result is anchored: center the layout, keep the start, keep the end, or keep the Target.
  • Supports positive and negative spacing values.

Arrange

Average

  • Move selected objects to their average position on a chosen axis.
  • Choose from several reference types, including object origin, center, and Center of Mass.

Stack

  • Stack Movers from the Target in a chosen direction.
  • Add adjustable spacing between stacked objects.

Circle

  • Arrange Movers around a circle.
  • Choose XY, XZ, or YZ plane.
  • Set radius and starting angle.

Line / Angle

  • Arrange Movers along X, Y, or Z.
  • Arrange along angled directions.
  • Use a custom 3D vector.
  • Arrange relative to the current camera using Camera Right, Camera Up, or Camera Forward.
  • Use center spacing or equal bounding-box gaps.

Grid / Matrix

  • Arrange Movers into an automatic grid.
  • Choose XY, XZ, or YZ plane.
  • Set the number of columns.
  • Set row and column spacing independently.
  • Optionally use bounding-box gaps instead of center spacing.

Place

  • Drop Movers to the DAZ Studio floor.
  • Drop Movers straight down onto the first surface beneath them.
  • Drop Movers onto a specific Target surface.
  • Use Lowest Mesh Point for accurate placement.
  • Add a vertical offset after placement.
  • Optionally include hidden support geometry.
  • Optionally align the Mover's Y axis to the contacted surface.
  • Multiple Movers are handled individually, allowing objects to land on surfaces or on previously placed Movers.
  • Grouped objects can use their actual child geometry for surface placement.
  • Standard DAZ Studio instances are supported.

Transform

Match / Reset

  • Match Target Position, Rotation, or Scale.
  • Choose which X, Y, and Z axes are affected.
  • Reset Position on selected axes.
  • Reset Rotation on selected axes.
  • Reset Scale on selected axes.
  • Resetting all scale axes also restores General Scale to 100%.

Camera Tools

  • Face Current Camera turns a chosen local axis toward the active camera.
  • Billboard Current Camera keeps an object facing the active camera more like a traditional billboard.
  • Choose the facing axis from +X, -X, +Y, -Y, +Z, or -Z.

Delta / Nudge

  • Apply the same relative Position, Rotation, or Scale change to every Mover.
  • Choose the affected axes.
  • Enter a single amount and apply it to the whole selection.

Around Target

  • Rotate an entire Mover layout around the Target.
  • Scale the layout toward or away from the Target.
  • Choose Target Origin, Bounding-box Center, or Center of Mass as the pivot.
  • Choose X, Y, or Z as the rotation axis.
  • Optionally rotate the Movers along with the layout.

Target and Mover Selection

  • Target and Movers are chosen independently inside A.D.A.P.T.
  • Launching with nothing selected is supported.
  • Existing DAZ Studio selection can be used to quickly fill the Movers list.
  • The Target is automatically excluded from the Movers list.
  • Parent/child hierarchy is shown clearly in the Movers window.
  • Cameras can be used as Targets where useful, but are kept out of the Movers list.
  • DAZ Studio utility nodes such as Tonemapper and Environment Options are filtered out.

Undo / Redo

  • Built-in Undo and Redo buttons are available directly inside A.D.A.P.T.
  • This lets you test placement and arrangement changes without closing the tool.

Designed for Everyday Scene Work

A.D.A.P.T. is intended for props, environment assets, grouped objects, instances, off-origin meshes, differently sized objects, and other everyday DAZ Studio scene-layout work.

The goal is simple: fewer repetitive positioning steps, faster scene setup, and one consistent place for alignment, distribution, arrangement, placement, and transform tools.

  • Think of this plugin as Align Ace, but on steroids.
