Dynamic clothing control in Daz 6
in The Commons
Since the upgrade to 6 I no longer see this in panes or installed plugins - has it been discontinued?
I have a bunch of older gen optitex assets which work even with G9 but would delete if no longer possible to drape.

No DS4 plugins work in DS6. Until the PA creates a DS6 version, you'll have to continue using it in DS4. Luckily, you can have both installed at the same time.
All the optitex stuff convert easily to dForce. Just convert them to obj, load into the scene and add a dForce modifier.
Since they were built for dynamics then generally convert well, and do not fall apart as some conforming clothing does when simulated.
This is indeed true in general regarding DS plugins.
In the specific case of Optitex dynamic clothes, the plugins were developped by Daz and have been retired according to the evergreen thread, so there won't be a DS6 version. Beside Optitex clothes were typically offered in .daz format which is not supported anymore either.
Regarding the clothes, an option to use them in DS6 would be to serup the scene and simulate the clothes in DS4, save the resulting simulation as a morph, then use the resulting scene in DS6. Or as was suggested, convert them to dForce as that usually works quite well.
Figured - thanks guys.
I'll make an attempt a dforce before removing the items (1 version of any software is usually enough for me
)
Some of the items have built in "styles", change the collar on a shirt, adjust the length of a skirt, that sort of thing, they are similar to how Geo-Grafts work, replace a part of a mesh with another part.
Probably need to export several versions to keep all of the "styles".
@Leana, a few of the later items were DUF/DSF, which is how some of us figured out how to "hax" the system and use it on any mesh, which caused Optitex to "freak out".
You've all been really helpful. I can't even see most of the items which ties in with the .daz thing mentioned. Some are visible and actually convert to a dforce asset very nicely - this is the old genesis amall toga converted as a G9 dForce item.
The ones provided in .daz format will need to be resaved as .duf in DS4 if you want DS6 to see them.
Thanks - re-installed 4 to see what can be salvaged :)
Not sure if it's still in newer versions of DS4, but under File > Save as > Support assets you should find a dynamics save option, use that in DS4 to resave the Optitex .DAZ formats into DUF/DFS formats.
