What happened to 3D Universe's HayBilly or other figures

What happened to the other figures in this store

When I search HayBilly or Other figures like Sadie, but it's not in here

I wish 3D Universe's HayBilly - The Cowardly Sheriff getting a upgrade for Genesis 9

So does Sadie and Sam

3DUniverse stopped selling their products in the DAZ store last month.  They're slowly moving their DAZ products to their new store at Renderosity... though the order so far has been rather random, there are aroundg thirty items there now.  Also, they used to have some products available direct at their own website, though currently they're only redirecting to Renderosity.

Note - Edited to correct 3DU store info.

FWIW, It maybe confusing to see some stuff and not all of it until one realizes that some of the 3DU stuff was bought by DAZ for their DAZ Original collection. Those products are owned by DAZ and should always remain available in the store for as long as DAZ chooses to offer them.

The non DAZ Original 3DU products are no longer available in the DAZ marketplace.

Only the ones that were sold off to DAZ as DAZ Originals.  At least half of his catalog is gone.

Thanks for putting the link here Artini. I found a couple of toons I didn't have and was able to use my Daz coupon with them.  I go way back with purchasing from 3D Universe, he's an artist that I really enjoy! So, I will hunt him down, where ever he now roams, he shall not get away from me and my money! smiley

    Glad, I could help, @Lilwolff

3D Universe toon characters works very well on my computer and I like very much their look.

These characters does not take so much computer resources and renders very fast.

Amazing how much 3D Universe characters are optimized.
Daz Studio 4.24 iray rendering time: 1 minute 8 seconds

    Thanks a lot, @Muon Quark

I am amazed about how well all 3D Universe's items are made.

I have purchased a lot of them during my years with Daz Studio usage.

They look great in Unity game engine too.

I've noticed that too with the human characters (I don't do toon) when rendering. However, they do lag a lot when trying to pose and reposition even a nude character - Novara is the worst for it IME. I guess it's just a trade-off I have to put up with.

Business is business and I respect that people have gotta to do what's right for them... but it can be a pain in the butt seeing a "new" product pop up that you like, but you remember "Wait a minute, do I already have this?" and then frantically booting up DS to see if it's in your library, LOL

I just learned this when I got an email from 'Rosity announcing a sale...

  • Any idea why  3D Universe left daz?

Their web page says little other than where they are currently selling, and Daz is also not saying.

Also, I doubt Daz will be happy if we start speculating.

The reason most folks do anything is "for monetary reasons". Is that the reason here? No clue. But it's probably one factor. Follow the money doesn't just apply to scandals.

Am I speculating? I don't think so. But what do I know?

All the facts I have is that: there was a statement on their website some time ago about Daz and EmotiGuy, and that statement had disappeared since, replaced by an entirely different statement. There's also a statement on this forum. Whether this has to do anything with them leaving or not is not stated.

Please post some renders of HayBilly. He looks great, even now after so many years after the release.

    I've turned braindead.

What is the toon cowboy that's a companion figure for "Tumbleweed" the toon horse?

    https://www.daz3d.com/tumbleweed-the-toon-horse

I realize it may be one of the items pulled from the store, but if I can at least learn the name, I can determine if I bought the silly thing or not.

Never mind, I found it.  The charcter set WAS pulled, but I did find it in my inventory.

He's named "HayBilly - The Cowardly Sheriff".  Not sure why it's not appearing when I narrow my search to the vender or "toon", but when I typed in "cow" (not "cowboy") to displayed it due to the word "cowardly".

I was hoping it came with a twirling lasso prop.  I need one for a composition.  Alas, the set just has pistols.

Mods, if you want to close this thread, knowk yourselves out.

There's already a forum thread on this under the name what happened to 3d-universe's haybilly or other figures, but until this thread gets merged with that one, the short story is that it's not showing because it's been purged from the store.  DAZ does that with artists who leave, to the point where, while items you own will still show up on your product library page, they won't come up in the store search as they are gone forever.  The vendor was 3D Universe, who moved to Renderosity recently, and while it may eventually be re-released over at Renderosity or at 3D Universe's own site, I rather doubt that it's likely to happen anytime soon as a.) it's really old and b.) there are tons of newer products that they're re-releasing at Rendo at the rate of two or three a day and I would think those old stand-alone toon figures are going to be at the very end, which will be in several months at best.

Is there a way to get support for products we already own, like if they update their scripts, or do I have to buy again from the other site? :x
