Does it work with any Genesis 9 characters or only those included with MetaMixer 9?
By default certain features of MM9 work with any G9 figure which include face adjustents (making features bigger or smaller, moving them around, changing their shape, etc). The mixing feature, where you combine characters together, only works if you load in MM9 Presets (like the 4 included).
I will be releasing a product which will let users create their own MM9 presets. This means that they can turn their entire G9 collection (or custom creations) into MM9 Presets. If you're a PA and have access to the HD Morph Loader then you will be able to create HD MM9 Presets as well.
MM9 was designed to give full control over every aspect of the face. As such it can be overwhelming so I decided to split it up into separate modules, this way users can pick and choose what features they want.
I have no idea what this does. All the descriptions just refer to how it differs from older versions that I've never owned.
Here's a demonstration of the old version (for G8):
and a tutorial for it:
(keep in mind that the G9 version has more features while also being a lot easier and faster to use)
Instead of mixing faces together the basic way in Daz Studio, MetaMixer 9 splits the faces into 70 areas which you can then do target mixing of specific features: the nose of this character, mixed with the eyes of another character, mixed with the lips of another character, etc. The character mixing can go even deeper: the nostril of this character mixed with the earlobe of another character, plus the middle lower lip of another, and so on. On top of this it has face adjustment features which work on any G9 character: raise the corner of the eye a little, make the bridge of the nose wider, thicken the upper lips, soften of accentuate the jawline, etc.
In other words it's a face-editing and mixing tool inside of Daz Studio which gives you control over every aspect of the face.
Does it work in Daz Studio 4.24.03?
Absolutely. It was developed in 4.24 and later tested in 6.
Also wondering if it will mix any G9 figure I own???
Regular G9 characters are usually split into 2 sections: head and body. The MM9 Presets are basically head (+ neck) morphs split into 70 separate sections/morphs (mouth, ears, nose, etc). The MM9 Tool can mix these 70 sections in an inteligent way and also adjust them accordingly.
What you can do now is mix the 4 character presets (included in the product) on top of any G9 figure. For example you can create a face using the MM9 Presets, then on top of that you can morph any G9 character the regular way. The module which will allow you to create your own MM9 Presets will be released separately.
Note: The adjustment feature of the MM9 Tool works on any G9 figure, it does not require a MM9 Preset to work.
Thanks. It sounds like I need for the module to create the presets for my G( characters.
I'm not sure if I've misunderstood, but the new generation of plugins can use any character shape, while the previous generation could only use the "Add-On for MetaMixer" character shapes, right?
Yes and no.
Both need Character Presets to mix characters.
Both can adjust features (which is different from mixing features) on any character without requiring a preset.
The new generation will have a module which can turn any character shape into a Character Preset. This module is currently in beta-testing.
