Sagan 5

Hello,

Regarding Daz to Blender, Daz to C4D, and Sagan—export options are limited. They worked with older versions of Daz Studio, but do they work with version 6 ?
Iray rendering produces excellent quality but is too slow for creating certain scenes. Personally, I reserve it for close-ups where the characters' faces are clearly visible;. For other scenes, I render in C4D or Blender.
I haven't managed to install the Blender and Cinema 4D bridges for Daz Studio version 6.
As for Sagan 5, I get an error message in the log file—"sagan5.dll skipped"—with no further explanation.
Consequently, I'm left in limbo.
I’m reluctant to waste time on these compatibility issues, which are poorly documented online.
I’ll likely wait until next year to see how things develop.

Plug-ins will need new versions for DS 6, scripts may or may not run.

However, these plugins are absolutely essential.
Daz Studio is a piece of software capable of doing a great many things.
This undeniable advantage is also - it must be admitted - a drawback.
Due to its complexity, every update creates compatibility issues with plugins and graphics cards.
It would be better if the software were split in two: a free program for creating characters using the Daz library, and a paid program featuring export options and an open architecture that supports other professional rendering engines.

DS already is an open architecture that suports other render engines, Octane and LuxRender being examples. Most of DS is supplied via plug-ins, if you look at Help>About Installed Plug-ins.

If you have a question about Sagan, why not post it in the Sagan thread that the developer responds to...

He said there that he has currently no plans for DAZ6, because DAZ is uncooperative. But Sagen is open source, if someone wants to do the migration, he might help.
