I decided to make another abstract. I used 10 cones, rotated and moved in relation to each other, within a fully reflective sphere. Lights from a blue spherical light and two spotlights (red and green). Material of cones and groundplane are AAA Variant by David B. Sky is from fantastic skies.

The terrain was self made and given a material from Grand Mountains. The clouds are from the Sky Toolbox, sky colour and ambient light by the unpublished Gasclouds_B01_SC HDRI and the key light by the sun. A valley in the mountains in deep snow.

Another superb realistic landscape Horo, well done.

The city blocks are a height map done in Photoshop, the materials from the presets, Architectural – Buildings –Glass blocks which I modified; the sky from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies. This render took 7 ½ hours on my ancient Laptop.

mermaid - thank you. Very nicely done city, those glass blocks look interesting. Yes, transparent objects may take a lot of time to render. Next time try to reduce the Maximum Ray Depth in the render options. Try with a small selection and see how it looks, often no difference but faster render.

    Very nice barren landscape, Horo.

I like the look of your glass city, mermaid010. Great effect of the colours of the sky/IBL on the city.

I made another render of my set of cones, with a different (partially transparent) material and with the ground plane hidden.

Hansmar - thank you, that should be snow on the barren landscape. Your new abstract looks great.

Thanks Hansmar, the new version of the abstract is superb.

Thank you, Horo and mermaid010. Now I have an alien in my computer it seems. But I think it is a friendly one. What do you think? Here is its picture.

OK, of course I made this alien in Bryce, as you have guessed. I used one torus inside 2 cubes and a (size modified and elongated) sphere, which have glass textures to act as lenses. There is a dome-light in the middle and a spotlight on top, both with (different) procedural gells. The sky is a black background ad there is a fully reflective sphere around the scene. I play with the size, orientation, form and position and texture (refraction) of the lenses until I get a result I like. This is number one from this setup. I think more will follow.

Hansmar - your image is 100% transparent. Great work! Well - as ed3D remarked - there is no visible image except the frame, most probably because you have not loaded it in you comment, there is none.

The terrain was self made and given a material from High Resolution Terrains 2. Left the Patrol Ship by Angel Estevez 2006 and at right the Construction Site from Deep Space HDRI 1 like the DS-Sky01 HDRI for the sky and the ambient light. The key light is by the sun. A rather not inhabitable part of a far away world is investigated.

Oh, I done it again. But the image should be there now. Thanks for letting me know ed3D and Horo.

    Great sci-fi render, Horo.

Hansmar - thank you. Very nicely done abstract, looking a bit like a face now when it is not anymore completely transparent laugh

    Excellent sci-fi scene Horo.

Beautiful alien model Hansmar, nice use of gel lights, looking forward to the other variants.

    ed3D - thank you.

The object is from Fifty Funky Shapes and Fifty Funky Metals with materials from 50 Metals The Treppenhalle Set. It is in the world centre within a partly transparent and reflecting sphere. Within the object is an unpublished HDRI as well as the camera with the GWL (gigantic wide angle lens), here about 310° horizontal, from Lenses and Filters and some light by the sun. Within the object OctoInterLoop1 looking through a fisheye to the outside.

  • Hallo everyone !

This is my  latest scene in progress.

I used a terrain, I modified and applied a "hologram" style material to it.
I’m not 100% satisfied with the result yet, and I think I can still improve the texture to achieve a stronger holographic or X-ray-like effect.

    What do you think?

    I D E N T I F I A N T - However, that hologram style object looks nice.

The terrain was self made and given a material from High Resolution Terrains 2. The water is the ground plane with my material. The clouds are from the CloudSphere1 and the ambient light by the belonging SkySC1 HDRI from the Sky Toolbox and the key light by the sun. A hilly landscape with a branched lake.

Nice work Identifiant, maybe you need a bit of transparency.

    Fabulous landscape Horo, very realistic.
