The zips in my account now have the correct DLLs so try again if there's a package update in DIM.

Apparently DS6 plugin installing into DS4 folder is still a thing so check there. Move over the dsp_*.dll to DS6 plugin folder. Trying to get this sorted with QA currently.

The image is from the file for DS6 I got from Product Library on Tuesday. I may not be enough, but It looks like this folder should have some reference to version 6?

Edit: Maybe not. BJCameraManager installed correctly and has the same folder name.

    They keep using this target string in the DS6 version plugin - ( 4.5, 4.x Public Build, 4.x Publishing Build : 64-bit ); I think it should be ( 6.x, 6.x Public Build, 6.x Publishing Build : 64-bit ).

Should get fixed today from what I hear.

Might such things have been worked out before we surprise-drop DS6 after being in alpha/beta for a year? Probably? Might we have let PAs create DS6 versions before dropping the thing at all so that there's not a "OMG DS6 sucks it doesn't even support my scripts and plugins" situation? ... Probably?

Nah, we do it the human way. Always optimize for the most drama! Because we're bored and looking for entertainment. laugh

And a minute later I hear it should be fixed.

The DS4 DIM package for BJ_Shelf is still not right. The documents section is wrong.
Oh dear, the file path is completely wrong for the whole thing. I've been out of town for a week. It doesn't even install for me. DIM says it is installed and has a size of -1 bytes. Show Installed Files shows nothing. Is the DIM package still completely broken?

Check updates for all my plugins. Pretty good chances that they will install correctly this time.

    They look OK to me.

Do you know, if it is safe to install update to Daz Studio 4.24?

Are there any updates included for Daz Studio 4.24 or is it just a copy of the previous version?

So I hope most have sorted the blackout out. Back to my suggestions to make the shelf better.

    I will summarize my suggestions.

The main issue is that I need too many tabs, so the scrolling gets unhandy.

    1. Is there a way to get more BJ Shelfs?
Currently we have one, but if I could open several it would help.
    Alternatively...

    2. Is there a way to make the tabs line break instead of scrolling out on the right side if there are more then one line can hold?
This would just impede the window a bit, but would leave all tabs accessable without scrolling.
    Alternative, and ideally...

    3. Could we get an option to put in a new tab as content into a tab?
So not just folders or Items but also a subtab?
This way the content could be hierachically structured. I realize this would mean major changes to save/load, but imho that would make it the perfect solution to content management.

Please do not consider this a request but just a suggestion - I fully understand if you have other priorities and keep this "as is". Its a very fine product already.
I would definitely buy a "hierarchical shelf".

Multi line tabs are not a thing in Qt4 or Qt6 (DS4 and DS6), would have to develop a custom solution. I would find it a bit akwward to use, tabs are kinda supposed to be bordering at the top of the content. On the other hand, Notepad++ does it too and that feels good enough. And scrolling too many tabs is also awkward. Although you can scroll the tabs themselves with the mouse wheel instead of clicking arrows, are you aware of this?

    3. is like a shelf item that is a link to another tab? Then just that tab opens? Or is that supposed to open a whole new tab space?

Overall I think I'd prefer the multiple panes if they could be namable. Sounds most managable. If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing with so many tabs laugh

In my experience, it was safe to install the DS4 DIM package for BJ Shelf. Both DS4 and DS6 versions installed correctly for me. I don't know if there were changes or not. I kind of lost track of that after all the multiple failed DIM update attempts. bluejaunte will have to address that question.

    >Multi line tabs are not a thing in Qt4 or Qt6 (DS4 and DS6), would have to develop a custom solution.
Sorry, I hoped that would just be a flag in the GUI.

    >3. is like a shelf item that is a link to another tab? Then just that tab opens? Or is that supposed to open a whole new tab space?
Indeed, an item within the tab - just in addition to the current Folder or Asset - a click then opens as a new tab, replacing the current tab. A tree of tabs, just like a subdirectory in a directory.
If any subdirectory would then automatically have a tab-item in the upper left to the parenttab, this would create a perfectly navigable tree that projects nicely into a file system.

With this the number of organized tabs within the shelf would be unlimited - though it would naturally put some strain on the save/load procedure :-/

    >multiple panes
I was tempted to copy/paste the dll and then replace any BJ Shelf just with a B1 Shelf within the file (and then B2 onwards).
I would try that on my reserve system once its running again, if none of the other solutions is realistic.

    >what are you doing with so many tabs

Organizing content. Eg. G9 Hair alone take up more space then a normal Tab provides. I have well over 10k items..
I would like to have a tab for each subtopic, and for each of the 50+ projects I currently run.
Eg. one tab for late Renaissance material, one for my Cthulu RPG-team, one for the island I create for another RPG, Gargun, Chostory, late Ming, Firefly, one with WW1 planes and equipment, etc...
If I start I would easily find well over 100 topics that deserve their own shelf-tab, and many topics really ask for sub-tabs.

    >3. Uh, nah I don't think so this sounds super confusing. I like my tools to be pretty straightforward. This doesn't sound like tabs, more like directories as you mentioned. Sorry :)

    >multiple panes I'd be more than surpised if that works. I'm prettty certain it won't. Copying does not change any underlying code so that won't do anything.

    >what are you doing with so many tabs Then I sure hope my caching skills were up to snuff to handle all that content! Although who knows what Qt will do with potentially a thousand items in a tab. We will see I guess.

Let me start with, thanks for this awesome tool. It does help to quickly find (access ) assets. It would be a great option if i could select multiple assets in a folder (Example Lindays folder contains Video tutorials) and add them to a shelf (Videos) instead of have to add them one at a time or simply add the folder to a "Folders" tab.

Currently only the last selected item is added to the shelf.

Hmmm I see. Isn't it more convenient to add 1 of those and then Ctrl-click to get back to the folder though?

Thanks. I do have a folder tab where there is a link to that particular one. You may have noticed that there are other tabs where I have tried to link assets from different vendors so I can easily locate them. The video tab will have the same functionality so the collection of Digital Art Live and DreamLight tutorials.

What I'm saying is you don't need a folder tab, you can Ctrl-click on an item to go to its folder smiley

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 27,343

Yes, yes, yes. Adding one item shows you a nice recognizable icon for that item. Then Ctrl-click on that item in the BJ Shelf opens the mapped folder in the Content Library. That is so much easier for me than having a bunch of unrecognizable blank folder icons in BJ Shelf.

Thanks, you are correct about using the plugin in this way to access the folder. Over the years I have been creating icons for video tutorials we acquire through the Daz store that dont provide a launch within Studio option. I am sure over the years you too have acquired assets that come with tutorials that you have had to reference while attempting to use the asset. That particular issue is not much of a problem persay, what I was asking for is the ability to select multiple assets and adding them to the shelf.
In another senerio you noticed that I have tabs for Genesis 9 male and female, while building stories I will sometime review the linked assets in the tab to see which character will get the open part. I have resorted to adding the characters to the tab for quick review, now that most are added there is no need to select a batch of characters and add them. If I were to build a Genesis 8 tab set of characters that would be a different story having to add them one at a time. (Just looking out for end users)

    @bluejaunte

Pls also consider adding the support to Smart Content ~~ Thank you !

Besides, may I ask where the data of the items on the Shelf saved... in APP folder or in Registry ?

Yes, it would be great if it worked from Smart Content.

I don't know (or remember if I ever knew) where the Shelf data is stored, but I always right click in the shelf area and select to save a backup in a folder of my choosing. Then I can import it into a different DS version or restore the shelf if I mess it up.

    Registry as a base64 string.
