This is a very slightly exaggerated image of my typical summer holidays - lets just say: I have a reputation. My colleagues at work now ask me when I'm going camping and make sure they aren't on holiday at the same time. This summer I have been asked a couple of times if I can plan a camping holiday so they'll know when the hot weather is going to end.
The image is of a campsite in the process of flooding. We have, twice, been on holidays where the deluge started as we arrived and within a couple of hours the river next to the campite rose above its banks and people's tents and caravans flooded - leading to emergency evacuations of parts of the site. Being used to this sort of thing, we choose higher ground to camp on... One campsite we'd intended to stay at that evening was featured on the front of a national newspaper (The Daily Mail), where the inshore lifeboat was photographed rescuing people from their caravans. We gave that site a miss to avoid putting anyone's lives at risk.

Must admit I'm more than a little surprised that my silly recounting & slight exaggaration of what has happened on many of our holidays did so well.
On a motorhome holiday in Canada (Calgary to Drumheller then Banff, Jasper, Whistler & ending in Vancouver) the motorhome company staffmember we handed the motorhome back to apologised for how wet it had been. So we re-assured him that as it had only rained on 5 of the 10 days it was unusually dry for us and we were used to 8 or 9 days of a 10 day holiday having rain. Jokingly, he asked us never to come back..
My wife & I even got a tiny bit of rain when we went to Uluru (Ayres Rock) in Australia. Apparently it hadn't rained for several years before then, and managed to on the only day we passed through. In some ways we feel like Rob Mckenna a lorry driver from the 4th book in Douglas Adams' 'Hitchhiker's Guide' trilogy - He hates the rain, but rain clouds constantly follow him because they love him and want to "cherish him and to water him".
