The eighties? Awful fashion, hairstyles and make-up, very few good films. Musically, things looked better: Talking Heads, Patti Smith, ‘My Life in the Bush of Ghosts’ (Brian Eno & David Byrne), Laurie Anderson, The Police, Sting, Eurythmics, BAP (a band from Cologne), Peter Tosh, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Youssou N’Dour.

Hmm.  Hairstyles and makeup were definitely crazy, and to say that the fashion was ecletic is an understatement but I should point out that a lot of those treds are still with us.  As to music., it's nice to see another Laurie Anderson fan, I still have the Japnaese laserdisc of Home Of The Brave that I paid a small fortune for back when it was the only way to buy a (legitimate) NTSC version of the film.  That said, I have to say that I'd really consider Patti Smith to be a 70's holdover rather than an 80's performer, as her two biggest hits were recorded in the 70s and, after she released WAVES in 1979, she went into semi-retirement to raise her family for most of the 80's until releasing Dream of Life in mid-1988.  I would also be tempted to put My Life in the Bush of Ghosts on the borderline as well, as while it wasn't released until 1981 due to music rights issues, it was actually recorded much earlier, before Talking Head's 1980 release of Remain in Light went into the studio... but, since we're talking bout David Byrne, who never stopped working throughout the 80's, I'll let that one tip over.

Now, all that said.... I'd definitely argue over "very few good movies" movies, as there were a hell of a lot of great movies released in the 80s.  The thing is, there were just more movies being made during that period due to home video having become such a huge factor in how films made money, and as a result there WAS a lot of stuff being churned out just to keep the Blockbusters busy.  As to relative quality, though, consider this list of just a few of the titles that came out in the 80s:  Raging Bull, Terms of Endearment, The Princess Bride, Raiders of the Lost Ark, A Christmas Story, Ghostbusters, Airplane, Raising Arizona, Blue Velvet, Ran, Once Upon A Time In America, Back To The Future, Gremlins, Amadeus, Blade Runner, The Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Full Metal Jacket, The Last Temptation of Christ, Mad Max 2 - The Road Warrior, Blood SImple, The Little Mermaid, Body Heat, Melvin and Howard, Romancing The Stone, Trading Places, My DInner With Andre, Star Trek 2- The Wrath Of Kahn, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, The Evil Dead, Stand By Me, Akira, The Natural, A Fish Called Wanda, The Howling, My Left Foot, Kagemusha-The Shadow Warrior, The Thing, The Right Stuff, When Harry Met Sally, Big, This is Spinal Tap, Brazil, Das Boot, Aliens, The Elephant Man, The Terminator, Heathers, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Sex, Lies & Videotape, Ruthless People... I could go on with this for a while before even getting the commercially sucessful but perhaps less polished like Die Hard, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, E.T., Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Splash, or films that were less than perfect but still fun watches like Re-Animator, Caddyshack, Poltergeist, Weird Science, Big Trouble In Little China, Labyrinth, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, & Buckaroo Banzai, or the lesser known but still great titles that either got lost in the shuffle or were just victims of bad realease timing like Used Cars, Outland, Fortress, and S.O.B.  So I'd argue that it wasn't really that bad of a decade for film at all, especially compared to these days..

I don't see anything in this bundle that stands out as 1980s to me. There are so many signature things in terms of fashion, hair style and props that could've been included. It's not that it's a "bad" selection or that the bundle lacks quality; it's just that it misses the mark for me. It's not going to be my selection for Premier character coupon.

Sure, there are a lot of things that could be there... but these are modern DAZ bundles which means we usually only get 5-6 items per bundle, and the Add-On bundle actually has a rare 7 items this time around. Honestly, I think they did a pretty good job on the balance this time and I'm glad we didn't get an aerobics outfit with leg-warmers/leotard and sweatbands,, a Goth outfit and makeup, a punk outfit, or a mohawk, as there more than enough of all of those in the store already.

I've noticed that Daz doesn't seem to understand what a decade actually is. I see so much stuff in the store with 80's in the title yet it's clearly 70's or 90's. Most of the stuff in the bundle, I would say is early 90's.

DAZ does often have a problem with naming accuracy, like calling airplanes with propellors "jets", but in this particular case I don't see anything that isn't actually something from the early to mid-80s... That said, the haltertop in the Fae Grunge Outfit is more late 70's/early 80's, but that style remained a common look for activewear/clubbing through the first half of the decade, and the flower belt-pattern on that same outfit's skirt also has a bit of a 70's holdover look, the skirt over patterned tights with boots drags the composite whole firlmy into the 80s.

I'm not so sure that a skirt over patterned tights is "firmly" in the '80s. I saw girls wearing that when I was a kid, and I see them wearing that in the nearby college town now (well, not right now- it's super hot here). Much of this is based on perceptions and memory anyway, which can always be debated. For me this set doesn't remind me of any signature stand-out fashion of the '80s.

There's a case to be made that a "decade" is not strictly defined by a year ending in 0, and that, for example, the 90s as we think of them didn't really start until '92 or '93.

it really depends where your from trends/styles are different the world over at different times and countries and various regions of those countries  influences can vary greatly, in Australia we were exposed to all kinds of stuff from all over the world and trends varied state by state even by cities/towns/suburbs could vary in each state

Short skirts with tights go back to the 1960s and that pairing has come and gone ever since, both because many fashion trends tend to be derivatives or rehashes of earlier ones and because there are a lot of places that are too darn cold not to have some leg covering.... which in Houston means the mid-summer, as when the heat goes up here the ACs in public places often get cranked down to ridiculously frigid levels.  That said, I did specify that I also felt a 70s vibe to the outfit and that it was the combination of the skirt, tights, and boots that swung it up to the 80s for me (as in the 70s I would have expected a taller boot).

Definitely true.  I was a NASA brat so we moved all over the U.S. when I was growing up, and quite often we would have to buy new clothes (and get different haircuts) after arriving in a new city to help fit in.

I've been to Australia a number of times and you can usually tell which of the other passengers on your flight remembered their basic geography just by the clothes that they're wearing.  I had a friend who got once got on a plane to Sydney in cutoffs and a T-shirt in July.  Worse, all he'd packed were similar items and he didn't have a clue it was winter there until a flight attendent told him several hours into the flight.  Needless o say, that turned out to be an expensive lesson, as buying new clothes in a different country can be pricey when one has limited time to shop and no knowledge of the local stores or even the differences in clothing sizes.

Ryleigh for Robin 9 is missing and doesnt exist.  IT stated when purchasing this you had to find it under exclusive Premier Content in the SMART CONTENT inside DAZ.  It's not there?  So why was this added as an incentive to purchase?

The premier exclusive characters usually don't appear until a few days after the main character is released. You just have to wait until they release it.

Ok thanks.  Its the first time i really used the Smart Content so realy didnt knowe this.  Ive been here for more than 15 years you think id know some things....  DUH!  Thanks again for the info.

i think the bundles are some of the best in quite awhile. I like all the content of both, which is very rare for me.

bought all three of her bundles. noticed they no longer include alternative face makeups in the base figure like they used too just the base nothing else though wasn't always a fan as it was non mix match makeups couldn't mix match lipsticks, eyeshadows, blush to your liking. And with the makep set we got in one of the bundles thought be more to be honest cause the 80s makep was a lot of makeup very bold as well as the nails. true we have packs from others that can fit the bill but still thought be lot more offered in her bundles

Totally not 1980s themed photo, but the character renders nicely. Can't find a good enough facial expression for her, so I just left it blank.

    Minor edits in PaintShop Pro.

Ryleigh for Robin is absolutely odd, look at this and tell me this is just bad workmanship?  Even the body does not resemble the publication...(not showing here_),, but it's bad.  real bad.  The way they promoted Ryleigh for Robin looked promising, but seriously dissapointed at the quality and the lack of checking before you publish.  The figure is absolutely not usable in this condition...

That is one weird neck proportion for sure.

You can even see it in the Thumbnails the heavy line in the neck for the character....

^ there's a Robin 9 Ryleigh Body slider, if you dail it out the neck looks a bit less weird. I don't think Ryleigh was an custom sculpt.
