Might be my favorite G9 female so far.

Sydney 9 is to East Asia what Asha 9 is to South Asia.

I like the character and I love the theme.

    Another petite, skinny female.

The Wind Valley outfit looks like a nice 3D version of the outfit worn by the main character of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.

Now I want to re-read the manga another time.

Not my theme. Sydney looks good. But I already have plenty of figures that look good. She'll be discounted eventually.

Beating a dead horse, if there were filament shaders included I bet those ships and outfits would look cool. But I don't hold my breath for filament support.

First, I think she is lovely, but the HD seems to add very little detail to skin. Why bother?

I may be the only one, but do the promos for https://www.daz3d.com/xi-fantasy-airship-bundle appear to be completely with a watercolor filter? I think it is shown normally in the other PAs' promo shots.

My favorite items are: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-princess-series-sky-pirate-braid and https://www.daz3d.com/princess-series-sky-pirate-outfit (which could be worn if you need an outfit to ride a dragon also and not freeze) and its texture https://www.daz3d.com/princess-series-sky-pirate-outfit-add-on. The only other good dragon riding outfit was for V4/M4 days.

I would love a Filatoon add-on for these, it would look great!

Agree. If we're lucky, we get to pay extra for Filatoon add-on sets. For years, most products sold here included both Iray & 3DL, and before that Daz & Poser materials. So why not offer both Iray and Filatoon presets?

Since that isn't happening, Ihighly recommend 3Diva's https://www.daz3d.com/easy-filatoon which lives up to it's name & converts everything very quickly. The results are lovely.

That and V3D Filatoon converter were instant purchases for me when they were released.

Very nice. I like that maelwenn and Princess_pa was involved with the creation of the bundle.

I liked releases like Sigrid, Aro, Cate, Everett, and Frankie that brought something more distinctive. Sydney is fine if you don’t already own Emmy or Nadine, I guess. Maybe it's just me, but she, Emmy, and Nadine all look like a new trio of sisters like Madison Leona Brianna, the similarities in the face and body are hard to ignore because the only differences I can spot are a slightly different navel shape, breast size and some minor adjustments to the waist. and as we only get 2 a month I'd love to see DAZ take more risks with future G9 characters.

Boring character, but I like the outfits and the airship.

Might use my coupon, and might regret it later laugh

It would be easier to compare them if the names were written beneath each figure so we know who is who. I think she is getting wishlisted for the moment.

    +1!

Thanks for that side-by-side comparison. I do see them as quite distinct, though.

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 5,905

I see the hands, mouth, cheeks, nose and chin shape areas as distinct. The eyes are slightly different. Of course their heights are different as well. I don't own Nadine 9 so I can't check her but I have Emmy and I have put her on my wishlist now. But I don't buy just one East Asian character and say that is enough to represent all the varied people of East Asian. I love having more options depending on what I want to render. And morphs are my friend.

I own both of these. I highly recommend them. But I only do that because there isn't enough native filatoon support to make them unnecessary. Converted IRAY materials, while they can look good, will never be as good as having native FILA materials.

the dreaded expressions as filler again, plus the HD.
    Roll another one
Just like the other one .....

I do like her though. Might be just the character purchase, although I surely don't need any more.

Yeah. I like JW's expressions. But I don't need another 30 with 1 or 2 that are sufficiently different to be interesting. The added sliders just slow down character loads.

That's always the issue. Do I really need another figure? Probably not.

I don't usually notice this sort of thing, but the ears seem unfinished to me.

(Elena is one of those recent 'probably AI' Daz Originals)

I like her, the hair, and the two outfits (by Barbara Brundon and Princess PA), but there's nothing in particular I need them for, so wishlist for me. I do appreciate the bundles feeling "themed" rather than collection of random products.

The bundle made me think of the movie "Mortal Engines" Then I looked at Sidney 9 and she' s too far... I hoped she looks like Anna Fang (Jihae) character. It will be for the next time.

The eyes look similar but the rest of the face and the bodies look distinctly different to me, and I am poor at facial recognition.

    More like unstarted.

  • I read Sydney 9 and thought it was going to be on the theme of Sydney 8. But no. Completely unrelated. Honestly? That just reinforces what I've been thinking for a while about Genesis 9. Most characters feel so random now and I'd even say most don't feel as unique. Not saying there weren't similar characters in G8F but I feel it's worse on G9. I preferred how characters were recognizable across figures, like a brand. Only a handful of names have survived, obviously Victoria but even the classic Aiko was just a character for a character instead of its own release and, even worse, member exclusive. Then what? Olympia? Josie? Freja and Kala returning from Genesis 8. I'm sure there are a couple more I'm forgetting but right now off the top of my head those are the only ones I can think of. Talking only about female characters, of course. Though male characters don't fare much better if I remember correctly.  I don't know, it just feels so disconnected now. G9 has been around for quite a while now, and I don't know if it's because it might have been way less popular than G8 or even G3, but except for Victoria 9 I don't think I'd recognize any other G9 character being used somewhere.

I'll get her because as a member I get the coupons, but if it weren't for that I don't think I'd have gotten as many G9 characters I have. And I very, very rarely get clothes or hair unless they are also for G8. I don't know, I keep saying I'll give G9 a proper chance soon but I never do.

Those expressions put me off too. I quite like Sydney 9, but not enough to go and buy yet another beauty from the age group favoured here. The similarities mentioned above are simply too great. The add-on bundles are quite nice; perhaps I’ll go for the Airship bundle or the Women of the Sky outfits.
