3rd Party scripts and plugins need to be updated by their respective creators. Now that DS 6 has reached General Release status, the scripts and plugins can be updated and released.

    "may" bring improvements
How to uninstall? DIM is not doing it.
Not listed in my Windows install app either.

Really? With all the continuing troubles being posted in the Beta thread it was still acting like Alpha and not a Beta

Unfortunately my very first experience with the new software made me go back to 4.24 instantly.

    Why?

My well-designed model (MSO Barbara) already equipped with a hair (dForce Practical Ponytail Hair) and a dress (Golden Order Dress) didn't load properly. The hair just did not show up. Works perfectly in 4.24 though.

    Edit -> My mistake.

Then I started a test-render in Daz 6 and the result came up much too bright and ugly. I am not eve sure why, but the details look horrible, the skin of the model looks bad. The default lighting (dome?) could be the reason.

But it's just a very bad experience to begin with, don't you think?

I mean, 4.24 works perfectly, so why would I step into a software that gives me such a bad experience from the very beginning?

And why is it so bad, anyway?

    Two questions:

    a) why does the new DAZ Studio 6 not accept my otherwise working credentials? Upon first login, I keep getting a message "Login failure - Server did not accept username/password". I checked with DAZ Studio 4.x and DIM and DAZ3d.com account: they all work fine.

    b) Is DAZ Studio 6 only a temporary trial version and will I have to subscribe to an expensive plan to really use it?

Any help or suggestion is welcome (prior to me raising an official ticket). Thanks!

    Marco

DAZStudio 4 had an "Unistaller" folder, DAZStudio6 BETA and DAZ Studio 6 have not.
The DIM uninstall doesn't work and the Windows uninstaller doesn't work.
I would like a clean removal of DAZStudio 6, please.

Oh, and I have got another question, please.

    Why is it Daz 6?

Did I miss Daz 5 completely?

Where's the SDK that is announced in the video?

If ever you plan to having your settings like e.g. Favorites in the corresponding menu item from a previous version being migrated to Studio 6: forget it. I just had a revealing chat with their Victoria AI assistant. See the chat in the attachment.

    Here's also a transscript:

Hi there! You're speaking with Victoria, an AI Agent. I'm well-trained and ready to assist you today, but you can ask for the team at any time. I may make mistakes regarding certain inquiries. Daz3D's terms and conditions override anything I might say.

    Hi Victoria,
I am trying to getting accustomed to DAZ Studio 6, coming from the previous version: I do not want to recreate all my favorites in the menu Favorites. Is there a way to import them somehow from the previous version?

    • 5m

At the moment, there isn’t a reliable way to import your old Studio 4 Favorites into Studio 6. Favorites (and scripts) in the menu bar don’t carry over automatically, and it’s been an ongoing issue across updates.

What you can do is save your Studio 6 layout once you’ve rebuilt your Favorites, so you can restore that layout later. Just be careful with “Update and Merge menus” because it can wipe the Favorites menu again.

    Victoria • AI Agent • 5m

Is that what you were looking for?

    Victoria • AI Agent • 5m

That is very disappointing. Do I get this right that presently all individual settings are lost and have to be rebuilt piece by piece?

    • 4m

Yes, that’s right for now: your Studio 4 favorites (and scripts) in the menu bar don’t carry over into Studio 6, so they need to be re-added manually.

The good news is that some of your “work” can still be preserved. You can copy your user styles and user layouts folders from your Studio 4 AppData folder into your Studio 6 AppData folder, then load them in Studio 6 via the Styles and Layout menus.

One important caveat: using “Update and Merge Menus” can wipe the Favorites menu again, so it’s best to avoid that until you’ve rebuilt your Favorites.

    Did that answer your question?

I am afraid that you just confirmed my worst nightmares. I'll stick to the previous version, then. Thanks and bye.

I'm sorry to hear that this is disappointing for you. If you ever want to explore any other features or need help with DAZ Studio, I'm here to assist! Take care!

    Did a dirty uninstall myself.
Deleted every folder I could find associated with DAZStudio 6.
"*.dufs" open again with DAZStudio 4, so all good.
    Sorry, DAZ
I don't want "failware" on my PC.

  • There is a bug in AI Chat.

I can copy text using right‑click, but the keyboard shortcut Command + C does not work.

That's a fabulous start. I was fortunate enough not to have any issues installing it, but you're not missing anything.

@mjmeyer: I think it's been that way for a while, I've lost my Favorites and Scripts so many times that I rarely even bother adding them anymore.

As I understand it, there are a couple reasons.

    1. Announcements for Daz 5 exist that are 5 years old and that code base is also incompatible with 50xx series GPUs.
    2. Qt, the GUI library used by Daz by 4.xx was QT 4.x. The above Daz 5 used QT 5.x But QT 6.x is needed for 50xx series GPUs.

Does this release means end of life of DAZ 4.24.X? Is DAZ 6 officially released or is it still beta version? Should I back up my 4.24.X zip to avoid being forced to update to DAZ 6?

  • Are the Victoria series figures supported in DAZ 6?

You should be able to install DIM on an offline machine, and use it in offline mode to install files you moved from an online computer to the DIM Download folder on your offline machine, and DIM should install them.

It's how I'm using DIM on my rendering computer (it doesn't have my Daz credential saved), the main difference between your situation is that rendering computer is actually online but instead of downloading each files two times, I have synchronised DIM Download folder on my Mac with DIM Download folder on my PC, and so far, so good.

The version of DS6 released today is a general release.

DS4 won't have any more new versions, the last one was the version of 4.24 where they removed 3DL (they said so at the time).

The latest version of DS4 will remain available for download in your account, and DS6 install doesn't replace DS4, you can have both DS4 and DS6 installed on the same system. The main idea is that you can keep DS4 to use the plugins / scripts which don't work in DS6 if needed. For the record, they did the same for DS2 and DS3 advanced, people who have them in their product library can still dowload the latest version of those (well, that might have changed now that they can't distribute 3DL anymore, but you definitely still could last year). Having your own backup can't hurt though.

I'm wondering about this too! I would have expected it to say "use" rather than "try" if they wern't planning on starting to charge to use it at some point. TBH I've invested a lot of money in DAZ products over the years, and I'm not willing to pay now to be able to continue using them in the future, so I think I'll be sticking to 4 untill the situation is absolutly clear!

No, it's not. It works like DS4 did, there's a free version and if you're a Premier member you have access to more features.

It didn't either the first time I launched DIM half an hour ago, but Daz 6 does appear now (I don't rememebr if I re-launched DIM or refreshed the install tab).

    Uninstall Daz Studio 4

    Uninstall Daz Beta

Daz Studio 6 will appear in the DIM. wink

You don't need to remove Daz Studio 4 or Daz Studio Beta for Daz Studio 6 to appear.
