I cannot help with the subscription version and if it works with Carrarra

you would need to ask Otoy

I own the same version as you and have it working on Win10 with a 2080Ti

I think I recall someone using it on Win11 too

yeah I'm not using the subscription version, (just trying to see what the latest plugin was) sticking with 4.09plugin

I'm onWin 11 and it was working , some months ago,.  thinking/guessing it could be a Nvidia driver issue, but the RTX 2070 is working ok with Daz Iray, just not Octane standalone or  in Carrara

I didn't have Mimic for Carrara installed, so that's a bust,

    I'l keep messin around.

    Hugs

    Hi all.

    just a quick question...

I've just tried to open Carrara to use Octane, and got an "no kernal" error, Then i went to the otoy forum, and the available plugins are Enterprise and Studio or demo.

what's the difference, and which one do i install.

    Love and thanks in advance.

well that's a voice from the past, hope you are well

    G'day  Andrew

    You're looking Luminous mate

I had a rough couple of years, but i'm doing fine now,

I need glasses to see the fine stuff now, they say I'm getting older...but what do doctors know.

    Good to see you too.

Doctors are overated ;) your eyes aren't worse, just the quality of the ink on the print isn't the same, that's all !

I'm now using reading glasses, but it turns out to be good news.  I had cataract surgery in the past year and the doctor told me I'd be happier with new lenses that gave me the best distance vision rather than those that gave me a compromise between distance and close.  I agree, the 20/20 distance vision (without the glasses I wore for many years) is great and the reading glasses are no big burden (not needed for the computer) cool

A friend wants the surgery even though she has no serious cataracts, but the doctors won't do it.  frown

You made the right choice. Lots of people go for near far in one lens implant and then have to get them changed cos it drives them nuts

Thanks.  The doctor seemed a little unsure before the surgery, but yeah, she made the right call in the end.  20/20 distance vision is really nice.  yes

3DAGE Andy, please let us know if you got Octane working

I have the Beta version of Carrara installed with all my clashing extensions

many actually clash with others and one can have multiple folders of Carrara

a barenaked version is always handy for troubleshooting

I've been quiet in this (and all) forum lately. Well... for a while now.

Not for any real reason other than the fact that I'm constantly working on animations, simulations, tweaks, and rendering now.

I've mostly switched things up. I have bought and built tools in an attempt to get Daz Studio my new Carrara-like animation studio and it accidentally really worked!

I still use Carrara, but more like the way we used to use Daz Studio - as a plugin. I still find it to be the fastest and most beneficial way for me to create custom models. I started dabbling in Hexagon for that, since I have it and that it. too was made by Eovia/Daz 3D, but I don't really know my way around - whereas Carrara just lays everything right at our fingertips. I seem to have forgotten my UV Mapping tricks though. I used to just fly through custom UV Mapping in Carrara, but I seem to have lost a step or three in that regard. I'll get it back!

I still hound the higher-ups at Daz 3D/Tafi to dust off the old Carrara Dev specs... but... well... you know....

As I got older, however, I really found a liking to being able to buy assets and toss them into a scene and it all just works. That kind of still blows me away at how that has evolved. Scenes are lit and render ready, characters are packed full of functionality and I give them a TON more, which was my key to unlocking my favorite way to animate ever.

Something like this, which has 109 Predatron LoREZ figures animated throughout

    ...and this little side project:

    we missed you heart

consider selling your Carrara content on Renderosity too enlightened

are still a few of your sets I never picked up (though I do own quite a lot)

I don't even know where to look to find the files for those Products anymore.

If you ever decide to make them freebies, I'd be happy to host them on my site :)

If you want the DIM-ready files, just download them from your Daz 3D account ;)
