saving a custom morph with dial...possible?

I have dialed in 2 character head morphs and I would like to save each of them as a dial morph for blending with others. Is this possible within Daz? Or is this going to be a big software deal.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It is possible to create a "controller dial" corresponding to your character which would apply the right amount of the morphs you used when dialed.

Unfortunately the tutorial I had for that is not available anymore, I'll try to find another one later if no one else answers in the mean time.

There is a video by Josh Darling about the subject. It's for Genesis 2, but the principle is the same: Creating Control Properties

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Hope it works on the latest version of Daz the same way. He doesn't show how how to include the thumbnail on the slider controler though. Is this possible as well, an option in the process? Have not tried it yet, just wanted to know in advance.

    Thanks again

From memory, assuming your controller morph it will be saved under data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 9\Base\Morphs\<your_name>\<product_name>\ as <controller_morph>.dsf

    • You create a thumbnail file called <controller_morph>.png and put it in the data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 9\Base\Morphs\<your_name>\<product_name> folder
    • In the settings for the controller you select that file in the "Card" field

    ... or there's Dial Fusion https://www.daz3d.com/dial-fusion-for-genesis-2-to-81 (There's a G9 one too if that's your thing)

Well, I followed along with the instructions and suggestions. Complete fail. Everything works as it is supposed to with the figure you are doing it on. After it is saved and the scene is cleared and new figure loaded up, the dial is gone. In my case I saved it to Head > People > Real World in Parameters as it was shown.

Any Ideas as to why this is? Seems to me it's a bit useless if you can't use it on a fresh figure.

I checked the video posted and while it covers creating the controller, it doesn't seem to save it as an asset afterwards. You need to save it as an asset if you want a dial that can be loaded with your figure, otherwise it will only exist in the scene where it was added.

To save your property as an asset:

    • Open the scene where you created your dial, select the figure, then go to File > Save as > Support Asset > Modifier asset.
    • In the dialog that opens, you can select your DS content directory and set your name and the product name. Navigate in the treeview and check your new controller before accepting
    • A new dsf file corresponding to the controller will be saved into <DS directory>\data\DAZ 3D\<figure>\Base\Morphs\<your_name>\<product_name>\

Works perfect ! Thanks a bunch. One more question though, I don't see it in Characters or Shapes....so I am assuming this particular type of thing is only visible in the Shaping Tab as a Slider?

It should be where you created it.

It is.......In the Shaping Tab for the selcted figure. I thought it should be available in the Content Tab also. Not that it's that important, was just wondering.

    Looked in:

    My Content Library > People> Genesis 8 > Characters

My Content Libray > Presets > Shaping

To make it available in Content, you must save a shape or character preset.
