Yes, never been paying tax before at DAZ in those 17 years I've been purchasing here.
For what I know, they technically have been obliged to charge tax from buyers outside of the US for years, by international agreement. But that agreement hasn't really been enforced very strongly outside the EU (where the system was fully implemented and coordinated between the countries many years ago) as many companies outside of the EU are still not doing it, probably to make their products cheaper. And the US authorities haven't really been eager to do this, so far, maybe for the same reason.
But they are working on enforcing it on an international scale, which is just a matter of coordinating data. So maybe DAZ is starting from today, would make sense to begin at the start of a new Tax year. If that's the case they really should have informed their users beforehand, that's normal practice.

You could put some items in your cart and check. It may not have hit all countries yet.
In Denmark we currently pay 25% sales tax on everything local, no matter the price. Between EU countries it's the tax rate in the country you purchase from (e.g. 19% in Germany, 27% in Hungary (highest in the world)) that you pay. But if you're in an EU country, purchasing from countries outside EU it's your own local tax rate you pay, i.e. 25% in Denmark. I can see that DAZ is charging 25% tax on my order, which is what they're supposed to.
How it is between countries outside the EU I don't know.

Today is the day people who live/work in the US or are US citizens must file their yearly federal income taxes because the US doesn't do VAT. The word "Tax" is a homophone with the word "Tacks". That is the full extent of changes in the Daz shop over "taxes". I'm sure there's no taxes collected by Daz in VAT countries before or after today.
I get your logic, and I see where you're coming from, but it's not the start of the tax year. It's just the last day we have to file in our tax returns. Tax year here follows the calendar year, although some businesses do a "Fiscal Year" and start on a different date, as something to do with how they deal with their own income and such. (I don't understand the particulars of why, I just had to make sure the records were filed and retained appropriately, back when I worked for a company that counted their Fiscal Year as June 1 -> May 31. Possible that other companies have a different cutoff.)
I think if Daz is suddenly charging tax, the timing with "tax day" is likely coincidental, and it probably has more to do with Things Not Allowed To Be Discussed Here. That's just a hunch, though.

i just used the 50% off Featured Artist from yesterday, 60% when you buy 3, then applied the coupon from the flash sale right now, plus 8 tokens. Got the % off to 86%
MY-CHOICE code worked with absolutely ZERO of the multiple groups of 3 that I attempted to use it on. Wishlist, Wishlist-on-sale, New, New-on-sale, full-price items...nothing. The disclaimer wasn't the usual; in fact, it specifically called out that it was only NON-functioning on Gift Cards and Memberships. I put in a ticket, though I doubt anything will come of it. SUPER frustrating, as I spend more (than I should) here than anywhere else. It's getting tiresome. I love my DAZ Studio and its content...but I DO NOT love the direction these sales and coupons are taking. I've been a PC / DAZ+ / Premier member for over 2 decades altogether, and I own more of this stuff than I'll probably ever use. Rarely do any of the freebies or deeply-discounted items even apply to me anymore because I own so much of the content...so when a coupon code comes up that I'd actually be able to USE, and it failes repeatedly for no reason I can discern, it is really, REALLY disheartening.
It worked for me without any problems when I tried. It didn't discount outlet or quick grab items, but that was expected.
Maybe the flash offer ended early?
Might be some Danish thing, as my test-cart with items for $ 100.- plus in it showed no taxes added to the price. Or it might be that a higher amount would be needed to have taxes applied to it, but then I would I never have to bother with it, as that would be a really, really rare thing happening to me.

I had 10 tokens to use at that exact time,, I even got out of bed 13 minutes ago to use them, (7 a.m. in my time zone) just to find 8 of them banishing after the store reset, they still had an hour and two minutes left.
It happened to me once. Tokens seem to work in a different timezone that what the timer shows. So to be sure, for tokens and also for coupons, try to not wait until last minute.

Picked up Porsimo 's Modular Sci-Fi Interiors Kit and Aeon Soul 's Tau Ceti Overseer - Sci-fi Armour for Genesis 3 Female(s) for 12.78 USD (using a couple tokens and my PA coupon before my D+ subscription expires at midnight Monday)..
Much better value than the Prop Yourself Up deal as without a new release buy-in you can only get one item for 4.99 USD (which also uses the coupon slot).
Hmm, no MM catchup this weekend so far. That is actually more of surprise than the "surprise" extensions.
I'm not surprised. Given all the cheap morph only figures released since the official end of MM, now at new higher prices, coupled with the fact that all of the sales have followed the same "no products released after 2024" policy that MM had, minus the stacking star discounts, we've basically been getting an extended March Madness anyway, minus the things that made a very mediocre MM feel worthwhile. It's also hard not to notice that the Feature Artist sales have continued to focus on the same tiny handful of artitsts again and again and again. It's like the whole thing is running on autopilot and the store is quickly running out of old stuff that I have anything I have interest in.
