Dforce clothing getting stuck in the air
I'm trying to drape the CultClassic robe on Gen8. So I'm starting from the basic pose and using animated timeline as I usually do. I thought my problems would be when he got to lying down on the bed, but it starts way before that. As soon as he begins to drop from the standing position, the robe neck and hood seems to want to stay wthey are, as if an invisible hand has grabbed it. So he's sinking down frame by frame, and taking the rest of the robe with him, and the neck and hood are just yanking back up into the air. There are no other objects above the bed, not even invisible ones. I've even tried starting a new scene and loading just the figure and robe and a different pose. Same thing happens.
I can only assue it's a weight map thing, and I'm not very experienced with these. When I look at the whole robe there's no weight map visible, but if I look at individual body parts there is. I tried 'unpainting' the map on the head/upper/lower neck, but it won't remove the reddest parts, just the blue edges. I tried deleting the weight maps and that still didn't make any difference. There appear to be weight maps on every bone of the upper body that are painted red at the collar--surely I don't have to remove them all (I started doing this and Daz crashed)?
I'm sure there's something really obvious I'm missing here!

You haven't said which clothing item it is.
How many frames are the simulation over (from standing to laying).
Looks to me the clothing has low dynamic weight.
Try to select all the robe surfaces and see what dynamic weight is set to in Surface Settings
It's the CultClassic Robe (dforce-ssr-cult-classic-robe-for-genesis-3-and-8) as I said at the start.
It's draping over 60 frames, 40 to move and 20 to drape, but it also did this in the fresh scene with the standard 30 frames.
There is no dynamic weight; there's dynamic strength, which is set to default 1 for all surfaces.
Try giving it more frames, that's quite a big move.
You won't see the weights, if any, unless a dForce Weight Node is applied to the item, you have the Node Weightmap Brush tool active and the weight map is selected in Tool Settings (if there isn't one listed then you can ignore this as irrelevant).
There are some robes that is partly pinned. Have you selected the unpinned version?
Though that should explain the above.
I have the robe.
Tried it on a G8F character. It didn't misbehave like on yours, but I would say it is a simulation that has some artifacts.
I've tried the pinned and unpinned versions, although the pinned versions I've tried were only pinned at the waist. Still, I tried the totally unpinned version and it was exactly the same.
60 is more than I'd usually do! How many would you suggest?
The above image was with 60 frames total and the pose at frame 40. Subframes and iterations were default.
Have you tried with another character just to check it isn't that specific character?
Yep, I'm currently trying it in a clean scene with the default Gen8. Tried 100 frames (pose at 60) and the hood did not get stuck in the air--hooray!-- but it did explode. Trying it on 150 frames (pose at 110).
Nope, that's still exploding on the arms and hood. Giving up with this item.
If you save a scene with the fgure and clothes anyone who has the product will be able to open it and give it a try.
