Non-complaint:  I just checked the details of my Xarelto prescription and discovered that yes, the price has tripled but it's now for a 3 month period instead of 1.  (*Whew*)  But I still need to re-evaluate my Medicare Advantage plan choice.  I'd love to find one that would include the heart hospital in Erie, PA.  I was happy with the one in Buffalo but UPMC Hamot in Erie has a better reputation around here and it's no farther away.indecision

Complaint:  My current Advantage plan has dropped my local eye doctor too.  Sigh, medical insurance in the US is a wicked greedy game.sad  Prices were better when the doctor lived in the grass hut next door and his only tools were feathers, painted stones & burning weeds.  And accepted chickens & vegetables as payments.indecision  However, results were not guaranteed.  Which upon reflection, is the same as today.frown

More insurance shenanigans:  Arghhh... After more research, It seems that my current Advantage Plan has also dropped my local cardiologist.  Arghhh...crying

I want a bowl of cereal for lunch, but I'm out of milk.  I have a Walmart delivery order coming soon with milk, so no need to make powdered milk.

Strange thing, I went to Walmart with my Day Center.  We went to Walmart, but I already placed my delivery order.  That was okay as I ordered milk but I was not going straight home after Walmart.

I found a pair of white shoes for $2 in the Walmart clearance area.  They are a tad snug, but they did go on okay.  They came with a backpack and 2 hair ties.  Great deal for $2!

Complaint:  Why is it that no matter how careful you are, opening a can of beets spatters red dots somewhere within view.  Usually on the most absorbent and least forgiving surface, like white towels or shirts.frown  If you even breathe in the direction of an open can of beets, it throws up a defense of spatters.  Bloody noses have the same problem, there's always a spatter somewhere, regardless of your careful attention to avoiding them.sad

Same reason one should not wear white when eating spaghetti.

I am doing a free computer class.  Non complaint I can do 3 classes and get a free entry level computer.  Complaint; most of the class is boring as it is basic,  not meaning the computer language BASIC.  I'm learning a few tips, but most of it is simple.

Complaint: enabled the (sorta) TPM in BIOS, Windows Update still didn't think my machine was eligible, downloaded an oofficial install helper, made a note of the possible method to avoid having to use a Microsoft account, started the helper, it downloaded as tack of data, ran merrily along, and then errored out. The code given seems to cover a multitude of sins, so trouble-shooting can wait until tomorrow (or later - Windows 10 isn't going to suddenly develop a host of leaks ovenight though I wouldn't want to wait too long)

Plus you probably have an option to enroll in a year of free security updates for Windows 10.

.. it is a well proven fact that pasta sauce has an infallible molecular attraction to bond with white cloth no matter how careful you are. short distances also may offer little immunity.

  • You really need to wear clothing with red dots ready printed. Then no-one would ever see the new ones after eating beetroot. Though beetroot?!? No thanks. Was successfully put off at school with a foul smelling purple tinged mess. Regards, Richard.

surprise  I love sliced or diced cooked beet roots, hot at dinner or as a snack, cold, straight from the can.  Mmmm... beets.heart  And I like hot boiled soggy spinach greens and even mushy lima beans of all varieties. And I think I've even had beet greens done like the spinach.  I don't understand the dislike for either.indecision  Perhaps it's biological, like the ability to smell asparagus in one's pee, or [garlic] from the skin of others.  Mmmm... asparagus.heart

Edited to add the missing word.blush

  • My wife loves Beetroot too. It's something I prefer to forget about her.

I love leaf beet (also known as 'Chard' or 'Swiss Chard'), which comes in many colours - green, white yellow and red stems with large, glossy dark green leaves. It tastes like spinach and that is lovely steamed or with butter. Then lightly cooked small Turnips (5-6cm across) and Radishes. Mmm. If the Radishes get too big due to maturing too late in the season, lightly cook them like small turnips, again very nice.

Never heard about skin seeping Asparagus smell, but I have heard it about Garlic, if you have enough.

    Regards,

    Richard

Saw an ad on my iPad that uses a Lowe's receipt as if it was a food bill.  I didn't know Lowe's had a restaurant in it.  Maybe they do now?

True, but I hope the machine will last longer than a year (if not as my main machine) and I will (more-or-less) have to switch to Windows 11 eventually.

Today Windows Update did acknowledge that my machine was Windows 11 ready and installed the update - it hasn't even (yet) complained that I am using a Local Account instead of a Microsoft Account.

Beer root? Around here (Tennessee) we only ever eat the root so we just call them beets. And we just boil and then pickle them. Pickle beets we called them. For us they were a side dish like any other pickle.

    The more you know...

You shouldn't have a problem with the Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE), which is what I gather from your post.

I wondered what OOBE was (there were instructions for using a console command to stop the requirement for an MS account, I assume with a clean install).

My computer is working again.  I can pick it up on Friday!  I didn't want to go pick it up tomorrow and I'm busy Thursday.

I probably need at least a fork to eat this breadless bacon cheeseburger.

You can do. with this command Shift + F10 and type OOBE\BYPASSNRO. This is one of the most common commands to perform this action, so as not to have an account with Microsoft.

My mum often leaves food in bowls on the floor.  I am thinking it will attract animals.  I found a picture in my iCloud of a bowl with some food in it.  The bowl is on the floor.  An animal can come up to the bowl and eat the kibble stored in it.  Should I be worried.

Yes, that was the information I found yesterday - but it didn't explain what OOBE was.

    Oboes Or Bassoons Everywhere

    Obtuse Objections Be Exciting

Non-complaint:  It's mini-adventure time again.  Yay, tomorrow is "payday".  Temperature here will be about 50F tomorrow morning, time to break out my hoodie & gloves and take a cool trip uptown.  Bus at 8:00AM, breakfast at my favorite beanery in the decrepit mini-mall, Mmmm... gravy & biscuit for breakfast.heart  Pick up a Subway sandwich or toddle over to TimHortons and pick up a couple of yummy donuts.  Then Uber to drugstore to use up my $10 coupon before it expires, then toddle to grocery, and Uber home.  And another pay month begins.  Five weeks until next payday.

...always loved beets since I was young,   They go perfect with my Cajun griddle fried catfish and tarragon/garlic roasted potato wedges.

There's a pub here in town that has a drink called the "Beet Down" which is made with beet juice, gin, and lime  Tried one and it was surprisingly good,

Complaint: Sadly that pub, which was my hangout when I lived in that part of town (and still usually stop in at when I'm in that area), will be closing this Friday so need to make one last sojourn...

Complaint 2: Google Chrome has been a pain today freezing up twice on me within the span of an hour. This occasionally happens maybe every few months  has not occurred pretty much all year until today . I tracked it down to remnants of a programme that didn't completely uninstall for some reason (Avast, which showed up at the point of he failure in the Event Viewer) I removed the folders  after restarting the system.  Apparently that was not the solution. as Chrome stopped working again about a half hour later.

It likely has something to do with still being on Win7 as Google ceased updating Chrome and Gmail for Win 7 about a couple  years ago.

OOBE stands for "Out-of-Box Experience." It refers to the initial experience a user has when unboxing a product or setting it up for the first time.

complaint: Really super tired of having to endlessly follow up with people to get them to do their stinking jobs. I've always been expected to do my tasks in a timely and accurate matter. Why on earth does this not seem to hold true for everyone else as well???

complaint: Little Dude's tooth is still hanging in there and torturing him. JUST FALL OUT ALREADY!!!

    non-complaint: Coffee.

Complaint:  Mini-adventure postponed:  (*Sigh*) My bus is a scheduled ride.  I have to call a day ahead and register for a ride.  They come to my driveway, and drop me off at my destination, but it's part of a semi-regular bus route.  There is only one bus leaving this town for the city and has for years arrived within a few minutes of 8:00AM.  I called and scheduled a pick-up for this morning.  Then like usual, at 5:15PM last night I received an automated telephone call confirming my ride and notifying me of the anticipated arrival time at my door.  Surprisingly, the announcement declared the pick-up would be at 8:20AM.  WTF!surprise  Um, OK?  Perhaps they've changed the route?  So, this morning I do all my preparations and am ready at 5 minutes before 8:00 and standing at the kitchen window washing my coffee cup when I see what looks like the bus pop out of the next block and turn the wrong direction.indecision  I check the clock and think "hmmm, 20 minutes early, but this must be part of the new route change, they'll be back".  Um no, they weren't.  I got tired of standing in the kitchen watching out the window, so I went out and sat on the porch at 8:10AM.  I sat patiently for 10 minutes to the scheduled pick-up time of 8:20.  Still no bus.  So I waited ANOTHER 20 minutes until I finally gave up and called the bus dispatch office and asked if I'd been forgotten, AGAIN.  And yes I was.  Not a big deal today, it was just a personal mini-adventure for breakfast and groceries, and we just rescheduled for tomorrow, same time, same place.  But sometimes I have important doctor appointments.  This is most frustrating.no  Vehicle breakdowns, OK.  Weather, OK.  Traffic, OK.   Human error, not OK. cheeky  This is the 2nd time this has happened.  And it turns out that the 8:20 notification was an error also.  (*Grrrrr...*)

Just checked the weather for tomorrow and it will be 15F degrees colder tomorrow morning.frown

Non-complaint:  Mini-adventure Take 2:  Yay, things went well this morning.yes  Bus came on normal schedule, had biscuit & gravy, heart coffee & OJ for breakfast in my favorite hole-in-the-wall beanerie at the decrepit mini-mall.  Ubered short distance to drugstore to pick up prescriptions and Halloween candy, and use up my $10 coupon, then toddled over to the grocery store, where I had enough money to empty my grocery list.  Ubered home, no long waits, no high prices.  Mischief managed.smiley

Complaint:  One of my uber bills didn't go through.  Had to futz around on the app to find a way to get it to try again.  Worked 2nd time.

Also complaint; it all happened so quickly that Subway wasn't open so I didn't get my sub sandwich.frown  I probably won't die.indecision

Kinda of a Complaint: Turned on my Windows 11 laptop and like I do normally, checked for updates. And Windows 11 25H2 showed up and started downloading! I had no clue and freaked. Queried on my MacMini what it was and found out it was rolled out on 3 Oct and is being sent out gradually.

Non-Complaint: It took maybe 3 minutes? No problems and my heart is almost back to beating normally. This was almost as scary as a BIOS update (I have had 3 so far for this laptop).
