yep, now they read 35% off for me, not the 80%.
You're too optimistic... I think it'll be vases and balloons only until the end...
....heads up, another vase.
...and here I was hoping for a sci fi bus stop given today's theme.
As for the rest of the sale, still not very inspiring. Really miss even the "not so old days" when this was still actually a special event for Daz+ members. When this month's subscription ends, I'll be very hard pressed to sign up for another if this is to be the trend from here on out.
I have to admit I'm not understanding how this is a special membership sale.
Discount on memberships - has happened before at other times during the year (not sure if to this extent or not, I haven't paid attention)
Beyond-base discount for members - common
"Better Than D+" items - um, okay, so how is it saying a membership is great if you're advertising that a not-membership item is better than what you get as a member?
Extra bonus coupon for members - also occasionally happens
Daily freebie - cool, but not anything to do with membership
Stackers - okay, interesting concept, like it better than the buy-in item requirements... but also, not really anything to do with membership beyond getting a boost if you're a member. And since the only things it discounts are categories I don't generally shop, personally it's of little use and I wouldn't find it inspiring to join if I wasn't already a member.
...if they just wanted to call it an anniversary sale, that would make sense. Granted, the sale last month had a lot more going for it, so to my mind it's a bit embarrassing to have this one so lackluster by comparison. Often they do start slow, so I'm reserving judgment... but they often also END slow for me.
I'm not emotionally invested in it one way or another; it just seems from an intellectual level to be... odd. But then, Daz marketing often makes little to no sense, so maybe it really /is/ thematic?
to be fair, i did update my expectations to reflect that here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9325421/#Comment_9325421
Could and has. There are some incredibly fabulous divorce balloons out in the real world.
Oooh, should have had some for my incredibly fabulous divorce! Cool concept, We did have a great party, though. - Silvergirl, totally agree with you on the bemusement over the concept of this sale, Why lure members into the store with freebies if there's nothing interesting for them going on really?
Thanks for a really cool idea for what to do with a balloon in real life, but I don't expect to ever have the need for an even that technically advanced balloon for my renders. Or any further type of vase. Or bus stops, corridors or buildings with obvious architectual flaws
It's not too late! You can celebrate being divorced every day! Why not with balloons?
I think instead of these throwaway freebies, have a challenge each day for better quality items, but limit how many are given away for free.
For example: "how many different sci-fi corridors are listed in the store? First 20 people to guess correctly today get a $10 coupon code", etc.
Or "How many bones are in a Daz Genesis figure? First 20 people to guess correctly get a coupon code for 30% off their cart".
I would love a Daz Carnival Sale like this with new challenges each day.
And then at the end of the whole thing, there could also be prizes for those that got the most challenges correct. Maybe you got all 20 challenges correct for example but were never in the top 20 to win on a certain day, you would still get some kind of prize.
And you would have outrage based on people not being able to be online due to work, time zones...
Also, this kind of promotion doesn't encourage widespread selling. Only 20 people each day would get something extra and be encouraged to buy.
I agree, though, that the sale is lackluster. For offers with buy-ins, they are just not good enough. For example today, I need to buy a new release to get an item sold at the moment for $1.6? No thank you, I'll just buy the outlet item I want. "Extra 30% off" on a full price item isn't that much of a deal, but it could work with Daz coupons (nvm, you have to use a coupon to activate the deal) and a bunch of tokens... Except that any savings will be again offset by the cost of the buy-in.
So I feel like the question marketing team isn't asking themselves is "why would Daz users want to avail of this offer?", especially that many of us went on shopping sprees just in September, so less than two weeks ago—and that still on top of complaining about floor pricing etc. On the other hand, maybe it's just forum users who are not buying, and the rest of Daz users is on a shopping spree? I suppose we will see next week, whether the sale continues like this or there's going to be something to spice it up.
Personally, after I spent a relative "mini fortune" last month, I'm happy to have bought dicounted membership, will grab the freebies, and maybe some daily "better than Daz" deals, and I'll call it a day. If Daz wants me to spend money this month, they'll need some more incentive. If not... Christmas is coming. I can wait.
Same here!
Folks, it could be worse.
Remember last Anniversary, the membership system was totally revamped - a few days after a big discount on the older version of Daz+? A move which caused nearly everyone here (including me, & I was 1 of the few who got a good deal from switching to Premier) to lose their...censored...& not find it for months.
And a few years before that, Daz migrated the store to new software at the beginning, which arguably needed to happen - just not at any time during a major month-long event. And the new software was full of severe bugs, which meant people couldn't buy things, which upset them and cost Daz sales revenue. True Story.
Same here. I bought truckloads of great stuff at great prices last month. So far, there hasn't been the critical mass of "new stuff I gotta have" and/or "monster sale that includes my wishlist items (which are almost all recent releases)" that prompts me to act. I'm perfectly happy to peruse the new day's offerings, accept the freebie and the cheapie (if I can use it), wishlist if one new "definitely will eventually get that" level of new thing shows up, and check back at Daz midnight to see what the next new day brings.
I used to stay up late, just to see what was new in the Daz Store. But now there is so little to interest me. And I know that sales text will be wrong, and coupons won't work, and prices will be wrong ... There is no reason to even look at the store until 12 hours or more later, when some of the things have been fixed, due to customer complaints.
miladyderyni_173d399f47 I remember all that! And it was all problematic. That doesn't necessarily make this situation good. I notice, even if we stack up the whole stack of stackers, we still have a $2.99 price floor to dampen our enthusiasm. And these freebies... Not sure I'm even going to install them all.
No idea why everyone is complaining, this is an amazing sale!. Saved a ton of money so far!
@SilverGirl. I sure would, but there's no room for any divorce balloons right now since I just inflated my wonderful new Halloween ghostie!
@FrankTheTank, this is actually an amazing idea I think, I would so love to see something like that happen in the store.
@Tomhip, I see by your joining date that you're quite 'young', DAZ-store-wise, so things will seem different for you, not having hoarded as much stuff yet (I guess at least, or you're really quick - OR you're just being ironic, of course ;-)). If the sale is working well on your side, good on you! But you might still want to pace your spending a bit. This is really nothing compared to what DAZ can do, sales-wise, if they really put their heart into it.
I meant it as, it is not worth buying anything.. at least yet. But I am also at the age when being called 'young' in any contex, makes me happy inside so Ill take it.
For years I've been thinking about DAZ as a "Mom&Pop" type shop trying to do internationall business. Nowadays I think they also changed to have many features getting handled by AI.
For me it results in a really special shopping experience.
Has there been any confirmation anywhere as to how long this "Membership Festival" is lasting? Since there are discounts for 26+ Stackers, and we get 1 new Stacker each day, I would assume it has to at least be 26 days long. Or did Daz design the sale while factoring in the 10+ Stackers that Premier members can get, and it could potentially only go for 16 days?
With Daz you never knew what they intend.
But they have a tendency to extend, so my guess is that it will run the full month till November 2nd.
Ah, I see! Did think so but wasn't sure. Glad to have made you happy accidentally!
- By the way, sales are not bad today actually, at least not with tokens. I've been playing around with the Featured category for a bit and included a relatively cheap doorbuster (6 bucks or so), and I'm getting 86% off with the 8 tokens I had left over from the last sale. So if one needs to spend tokens, today isn't a totally bad day for that I reckon.
i will say that today the 80% off with a doorbuster on featured artist categoory isn't too bad, plus the stacker discount is now at 60% if you've been grabbing the free ballons and vases. I happen to have my Premier coupons left yet and 8 tokens, so it comes to 91% off the featured artist products. I kind of want to load up at that pricing. Obviously the more you put in cart the percent will go down as the coupons will deduct less off each product in the cart. 72% off the doorbuster item in my cart.
It's not bad (even for a Daz+ member), and I built a modest, +20 cart with D+ coupon and tokens from buying the membership. But, ultimately, the doorbusters are so unappealing today, that I can hardly pick anything I would use, except for maybe the poses, and even that is a stretch. So I'll probably wait till tomorrow. Either the promotion will stay the same with hopefully some better doorbusters to pick from (I really find it unappealing when any one PA "crowds" the new releases for the day; it limits the selection greatly), or I'll dump the cart.
the dorbusters averall have not entered my cart. I put the coffee shop in there today ... I think I have a thing for coffee shops, I must have 5 or more of them already
.The bone mion thing might be worthwhile, but it appears you need the older bone minion products for that to work? Otherwise, nothing I would ever use. Same with the $1.49 character. I have so many characters plus I can churn my own my the thousands, I sure don;t need any more, but there are some that have excellent skin textures so I have a tendency to buy thos still. One of the things I've noted is that there are conversions for textures from G whater to whatever, but in reality, why not just use the generation it was meant for in your scene? Unless you're doing real close up work with no clothes on, it really doesn;t matter.
Same here. There were a few I might have considered, but, well, I'm poor but also patient, so I prefer to wait for a sale on those, unless there's some really big incentive for discounts elsewhere. In the past months, I did buy new releases, but not only they discounted other stuff, but also they were something I could pretty much immediately use.
As for the $1.49/1.99 character, I like her, and I'm always for some extra morphs/skins for that price. Unfortunately, it does not count as a doorbuster. Otherwise, I'd be checking out my cart now.
Just a heads up for DAZ+ and Premier members, the Membership Festival Render Contest is up in the members forums, where you can share renders with some of your buys made during the sale: Membership Festival Render Contest
We're surprisingly getting a Render Challenge for October as well this time. It's on the theme "Colors of October". Hope people can join in and have fun doing some renders for the season: October 2025 Render Challenge
