We don't have a homeowners association. If we did, everybody on this block would be in jail.

I am so glad it is quiet now.  No construction work.  No barking parties.  At least none I can hear.  The only things I can hear are the ceiling fan, the computer fan and the clicking of my iPad as I type,  I think I heard the faint sound of a car somewhere outside, but not sure.

We have ceiling fans. I rarely turn them on because I worry that I'll pull the string and the whole thing will fall from the ceiling. One day I'm going to pay somebody to put in new ones that don't wobble, and have remote controls so I don't have to pull strings. Then I can just put the old ones out in the front yard and leave them there because we don't have a homeowners association.

Mine has what amounts to a remote control wired into the electrical switch spot. Highly recommend as this makes it impossible to lose the remote. (There wasn't originally a fan there... IIRC my dad advocated for that style when he installed it for me. I don't recall if it came with the fan or was separate, though.)

I got an estimate to repair my PC that was damaged by lightning:

    Parts:

    Asus TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS Motherboard

    Ryzen 9 7900X CPU

    Corsair HX1200i power supply

    Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 6400 memory

    360mm AIO CPU cooling system

And WD BLACK 1TB SN850X SSD

    1177.83, plus tax

    Tax: $79;.50

    Labour: $120

Total cost is just under $1400. For now I'll use my 11 GB GTX 1080ti; GPU but there is plenty of room to upgrade it later. Also keeping my 4 TB hard drive, case and DVD drives.

.What do you guys think of this plan ?

  • Complaint: Time to register & pay sales tax on Subaru Outback we bought to replace the Equinox that was totaled by a deer. (You get 60 days to settle up with the state.) So much for going really wild the rest of the sale.

Complaint: My left (dominant) wrist has been hurting for the past week. I got another support glove which seems to be helping. I hope it's just arthritis & the change in weather and not an encore of carpal tunnel syndrome. I don't want to have another surgery.

Non-complaint: Been doing a lot of reading. Including while waiting on downloads and renders.

Non-complaint: Weather is a little cooler.

Wish I could weigh in with useful advice, but it's all Greek to me. It's more than I paid for my brand new box, but I have no idea how the specs compate. Hopefully somebody more tech minded than I am can weigh in.

What, if anything, are they repairing? Did they test which components were actually damaged? It looks like they're just building a brand new system.

Yes, they checked it out and even took the old power supply apart but weren't able to fix it. The motherboard and processor were going to need to be replaced anyway to be Windows 11 compatible. So, yes, they are pretty  much building a new system. I only keep the GPU, hard drive, case with fans, 2 DVD drives, aand card reader from my old system. I thought of just buying a new system but since I wanted the bays for the drives along with a gaming configuration I couldn't find any suitable ones.

Has anyone heard of World Anvil?  It seems to be web based world building thing.  That means I can use it on my iPad without the barrier of installing and maintaining apps.  Or more importantly paying for cloud storage so I can access the data on multiple devices.

I'm thinking of making Genesis 9 versions of the characters.  I wonder if I can create a ooh it's a baby bump with the morphs I got already.  Not an everyone knows it is a baby bump, but  just found out I'm going to be a momma.

Congratulations! (With the assumption that you're pleased by this development.) Hoping for an easy pregnancy journey for you. (Don't know if you're queasy at all, but chocolate Teddy Grahams were the bomb with all three of mine when nothing else seemed to want to stay put. Way better than the saltines everyone tells you to eat.)

oops, I am not pregnant.  I want to recreate my vampire character who has a baby bump. I need to get Word open or something similar and write about Kara finding out she has a baby bump.  Apparently she can't get pregnant because strigoi which is her type of vampire can't get pregnant.  The mystery is that she is pregnant.

She had done something with her Lycan boyfriend.  Not going to tell you what.  I was imagining how she found out about the bump was when she went to Victoria Secret to find a nice Christmas night set to wear for Christmas Eve with Thorne her bf.  Stil workingbon the details.  It was 2004 so could she try on her new nightie?

I don't know much about vampires or vampire pregnancies. I'm sure you could write it however you want.

Multiple complaints! I hate tech. Today I wanted to get back to work on the MacBook Pro whose metadata was messed up months (maybe a year) ago when Customer Service said the only way to get a fix for a product was to "Log In" through Daz Studio. The fix couldn't be pushed through DIM. So I Did. All my work wiped out. And more added because they had been updating the .dsx file names with punctuation, (s), and combining products together. And then I come to the SKUs where the RDNA products were released and I found the .dsa and .jpg files that had been there after I created metadata and made .jpgs were stripped out of Runtime/Support. So far I have found 63 files after I fixed the first. I thought that it was a fluke. Nope, the leading edge of a lot more work for me. At least I just have to assign the labels and link the products to their base items. And pull the .jpgs from my download folder.

That is, if I can keep my mouse from kicking off all my external hard drives. I have no idea what is happening to it.

And somehow, all the clothing I had converted for G8/G8.1/G9 in My Library is gone. I am going to have to completely start over. Actually a larger segment of My Library went missing. I have scenes and such but that is it.

@SilverGirl, I am not positive, but from the weather I heard this morning, I 'think' your area of the country is due to get a deep freeze tonight or tomorrow. Denver is on the SW edge of it and we are looking at temps in the 40s for the first time since early June. It is snowing now above 12,000 feet in the Rockies. That maybe why they are worried about your water pipes.

I think they're lychee. Dragon fruits are huge, and instead of those thin spines, they look more like a Nerf pineapple.

No, I call it Malaysian Hairy Fruit.  But it is Rambutan.  I found the how to eat guide after I ate half of the container.  I ate the whole container.  (Not the plastic, just the food!)

Must be to the west of us.. in my area of Minnesota, the low tonight is 44, with temps climbing (both high and low) for the next week.

More likely it's because exterior water is paid by the association, and they seem to think of the fees as their personal money. So they get resentful if they have to actually provide the services we pay for.

I googled after I posted, and I was misremembering what lychee look like.

On entering my apartment after the latest grocery run I heard what sounded like an old air raid siren, though one that was rather faint.  For a moment brought back memories of the old "duck & cover" days.

Turned out it was the sound made by this thingy on the street below outside my window:

Thanks for reminding me I need to offload the dishwasher... before I start dinner.

  • Complaint: Our 16 week old Maine Coon kitten wants to play with our 13yo Maine Coon. And the older cat is feeling seriously harried because he wants to be left alone, but doesn't do anything other than hiss and run away. Basically, he's too nice to exert authority. The perils of a nice cat.

Non-complaint:  It's 1:30PM and I just looked out my kitchen window.  It's a bright sunny day.  And I saw the shadow of a man on the peak of the roof, and I hear pounding noises.surprise  Yay, the neighbor's finally working on the shingling of the roof again. (It's about time!angry)
