kitchen herb garden? [SOLVED!!!]

Anyone know if there's an environment set out there that has a little (indoor) kitchen herb garden? There's really not the common culinary stuff in the offerings of various random outdoor plant sets for me to make my own. Thought perhaps a PA might've included one somewhere and I missed it...

I'm specifically looking for them growing in small pots, not hanging dried or mid-use in a mortar/pestle or some such.

TIA for any advice.

(And hey, if there isn't one... maybe someone would consider filling the gap?)

You should check the "gitika 1" freebies on renderosity.
    It's a real treasure.
A BUNCH of transparent Pngs files (mostly trees, but also herbs, grass, flowers and more).
It's easy to make Opacity Maps from transparency using Photoshop or GIMP.
Then you can add the images to Primitive Planes Surfaces and easily compose a nice garden.

That's quite the resource! Unfortunately it doesn't have any of the herbs I'm looking for, but hopefully it can help someone else out!

SilverGirl, may I refer you back to a previous thread you started last year where there were a lot of suggestions?

In addition to these I would check out https://www.daz3d.com/martinjfrost store just to make sure he has not added more herbs in the intervening year.

Thanks; I'm aware of and have checked both and come up empty. My thought was that often there's some cool random props in various environment sets, and although I feel like I've been through all of them with a fine tooth comb at this point, it's entirely possible something has escaped me and one of them had a little indoor kitchen herb garden. It was something of a Hail Mary, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Okay, one of the things I have learned as I tried to figure out what some of the plants MJF is releasing, is that many of what we consider weeds are actually medicinal plants in local areas. I have sorted some out as a sub-category of herbs but others may still be under my weeds sub-category of plants, or are of both. Some are in flowers. I am attaching the thumbnails from my installed products on my MacMini so you can see them easily. If you have these products and a browser with an AI assistant, it is easy to ask "what is this...?' and get a detailed answer and references. Depending on where your herb garden is located, the weather it has to deal with, you can pick and choose the correct plants, or decide which can be house plants.

Forgot the flowers. And it looks like I can't. Bummer.

No worries, and thank you for trying.

This is just a little apartment kitchen thing (North America, Midwest) that'd have some of the common cooking herbs -- basil, rosemary, thyme, cilantro, parsley, sage, chives, that sort of thing.

How about something like this https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/plants-collection-261-1528406

Yeah, exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for! ...except it feels like a heck of a gamble paying $19 for something that may or may not play well with Daz.

  • Did you get Vue as it was being killed off? This came with a plant creator. You may be able to look in the library with that to see if there are any herbs. Just a thought & maybe not a good one.

A lovely thought if I had Vue! Unfortunately, I do not. Maybe it'll help someone else, though!

I might just be up a creek with this one. Not the end of the world, and maybe something will come along eventually. Thank you everyone for trying, though.

What a shame. Not everyone got it when it was made free at end of its development. It was a bit of a shot in the dark.

    Regards,

    Richard

Just double checking... how about downloading Plant Factory Legitimately here: https://www.bentley.com/software/e-on-software-downloads/ and vue (not needed) too.

    Richard

Might give that a go, thank you!

There's a bunch of different herbs hung up to dry in this set, maybe you could just turn them upside down and put them in planters - https://www.daz3d.com/cottage-props ?

SilverGirl, do you have https://www.daz3d.com/boho-cottage--the-kitchen- by 3DStyle? There is a set of pots in the kitchen with herbs in individual pots. If you do not have it, it is on sale today.

Selfishly, me too! And that PA can thank you too... the hyper-colorful aesthetic of that set isn't my general vibe so I'd passed it up a while ago, but I'm realizing it actually fits perfectly for one of my side characters, so I'm tossing the other Boho rooms in my cart as well. :)

I realized as I spoke to my flatmate about this, the reason I didn't remember this set was this set gave my old Win 10, GTX-1080 and GTX-1080Ti cards fits and froze my screens. Now that I have Win 11 RTX-4090 and a MacMini M4 Pro I shouldn't have issues. I do love many of 3DStyle's clothing and props.

Edit to add: As someone who was raised in Southern California with its Mexican American culture and history, along with parents who embrace a multi-cultural Western esthetic, the set felt like home.

I love that for you! ...I was raised in the Midwest in the 80's. Everything was brown, with accents of beige and moss green. And, for some reason, pineapples.

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 5,235

Hey, brown, beige and moss green is NEW again! The greys are out. Per HGTV decorators. (I have been binge watching some of their shows.) Pineapples, well I can't explain that one. Except for pizzas, cakes, and carving as posts.

I spent most of the 80s in Greece and England, with four years in the Mojave Desert in between. Totally lost track of what the USA was doing while overseas and the Mojave was its own little world some months.

    Achievement unlocked!!

...the plants come as one item in a row, so I had to do some piddling about to get them separated so I could reposition them. I also threw some shaders at the pots to make them more interesting.
