If ALPHA really doesn't work well for you for some reason, you can still compose your Scene in DS 4.24 then open the Scene in ALPHA only for rendering.
Hi, I've been considering upgrading to a 5090 because it's just crazy the prices for used 4090s at this point, heck, they seem to be more expensive than the 5090s and I even saw a 3090 at 2000$-ish. I know Daz 4.xx doesn't work with the 5090, that's why I was going for a 4090 because who knows how long until Daz 2025 is actually released and stable enough for "main work". However, I read this somewhere else too, that you can just work on Daz 4.24 and load the scenes in Daz 2025 just for rendering using a 5090, but I wanted to ask if there is something else I should know, does it work perfectly? Are there things in a scene that won't load properly in Daz 2025?
I have a 5090 and I've been using 4.24 to build my scenes and rendering them in ALPHA for a few months now. I don't use DAZ every day so it's probably not as much actual work as you might think but nevertheless it's working well for me. The reason I don't build and modify scenes in the ALPHA is because I can't use all the plug-in and script based products I own that make life easier.
All my scenes load in both versions normally and I've only had one small issue. I have hundreds of DAZ products and so far I've only found one product (an environment) that has a problem in the ALPHA. When using this one product the 'eye' icon to hide/show items in the 'Scene' tab does not hide/show items properly so I have to render scenes using that environment product in 4.24. I believe it's because the product is built in a non-standard way since it's the only product that has this problem. Sadly that product is used in one of my current projects main scenes but I'm dealing with it. Otherwise as far as I'm concerned using both 4.24 and ALPHA is great. One word of warning though, there is some quirkyness about the "Save" command if you save scenes in different versions. Just quirky, NOT a real problem.
Good luck!
Which product? I had some odd bevaiour with show hide with a few mdoels, but it seemed to be fixed in the last couple of builds.
I posted the information in both a submitted request and on this forum months ago and you were the one responding to me at the time. I can't find the detailed powerpoint description I submitted but the product is "Futuristic Street Store" by Polish, SKU #92909. I'm pretty sure you can look through deleted posts in this forum or can access closed requests. I haven't submitted that many posts or requests so using my screen name you should be able to find the powerpoint file in one place or the other.
Doesn't sound like the issue I encountered, and I don't have that product to try it out.

I'm sorry, I replied before testing the product in the current ALPHA build and wasted your time. The problem I had with the product I mentioned is gone and it works normally. The only other issue I ever had with the ALPHA was the lighting in texture shaded mode but once I saw posts about preview lights and hitting 'ctrl+L' when starting the program to turn them off that's no longer an issue. Someone mentioned that changing the default behavior for preview lights from "off" to "on" is a bad idea and I agree with them. Not a deal breaker of course but I kind of wonder what the reasoning is for making the change.
At this point I'm happily using 4.24 to create and edit my scenes and then the ALPHA to render them. Althought there is some dead time closing 4.24, launching the ALPHA, and opening the scene the faster rendering with the 5090 video card more than makes up for it. I'll be happily working this way until the ALPHA becomes a BETA and eventually a released product. My only remaining concern is that changes to plug-ins and scripting will break products I've purchased from DAZ that I've come to depend upon. Only time will tell how big an issue this will be. I'm not too concerned because I followed the instructions given for people who want to continue using '3Delight' and downloaded 4.24 so I can always continue using it if necessary. Cheers!

Buy a 5090 now, as long as the prizes are low.
Do not open the box, until you know, what is happening with DS.
1) DS fully supportes the 5090, you got it for cheap.
2) DS support doesn't work, resell the 5090, when prizes go up.
Is the problem that you don't see the tab, or that it doesn't show your content? If it's the second one: Do you use the default content directory or do you have custom ones? The alpha has its own set of preferences so if you don't use the default folder you may need to declare your content directories in preferences.
@golem841, can you right click in the pane margin and get the 'Add Pane To Group' pop-up? If so move your mouse over to the drop-down and 'Content Library' should be listed. I removed my tab 'Content Library' to test this in DS6 and had no issue adding it back on. I just can't do a screen shot.
Will daz continue to develop 4.x versions or is 2025 where all the effort is going. Just asking 'cus I was curious.
4.x develeopments, since 4.20, have been proto-2025 stuff that could be made to work in 4.x, rather than planned 4.x additions - as far as I am aware 4.24.0.3 was intended to be the last update for that major version but now another is needed to remove 3Delight

Why add a new release to specifically remove 3Delight. Why not just let it live in 2.24?

Because the license to distribute it will end - I very much doubt it was free to Daz, and since it can't be integrated into DS 2025 (for the opposite direction of the same reason that Iray 2024.1 or later cannot be integrated into DS 4) that would have left Daz paying for a legacy feature that was not useful in the current version.
Saving the workspace layout crashes Daz ALPHA version 6.25.2025.21707. The previous version crashed too.
I believe it didn't crash in the earlier versions, such as the first alpha release.
I am not seeing this - does it happen if you load onme of the default layouts and save them (after backing up the .dsx files from %appdata%/daz 3d/Studio6 Public Build to keep your existing layout, which I asume you want since you are trying to save it)?

I see why I'm crashing. I copied my old layouts from 4.24 to the ALPHA build, and something from 4.24 appears to be crashing the ALPHA build. Not sure what the cause for the crashing is from, but I'm guessing it's a custom action(s) specific for 4.24. Or it might be something else that I am not aware of.
If I started from any of the default layouts and customized it for the ALPHA build, saving the layout doesn't crash. So that does narrow down my issue more.
Strange, even though the ALPHA build crashed when saving the layout, it was able to save and load the layout.
Another bug I noticed is that the ALPHA version doesn't take a "screenshot" of the saved layout as a preview. However, there is a blank .png file generated instead.
I have a MacMini Pro M4 and I found that a scene file that had over 6.6 million vertices took 5 minutes 54 seconds when rendered in DS 6. I had built the file in DS 4.24 and had some slow responses because of the hair, so decided to try DS 6. It came through like a champ. Another character render took less than that.
And this is on top of being able to use Filament/FilaToon!
But as noted in Evergreen, scripts and plugins are not working in the Alpha. So use 4.24 for that and reopen in the Alpha.
I got a problem with launching Daz 2025.
When I Open the program, it loads all the plugins, but then when the viewport becomes visible it crashes with this:
DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION … CreateDirect3D11SurfaceFromDXGISurface()
See screen: https://ibb.co/KxQ1WXZR
I already reinstalled DirectX, Daz, cleared the user settings folder for the Daz instalation ( I deleted the "Studio6 Public Build" folder and daz created it again ).
Can I ask if there are any vaguely evidence based guesses as to when there will be a full release of DS6/2025? From the current state of progress witnessed in the discussions in this thread, Q2 2026 may be a better estimate than 'Sometime 2025'.
The reason I ask is that I have an offline PC at the moment, and coupling that with the fact >50% of my content comes from places other than the DAZ store, I don't use DIM. However, DIM appears to be the only way to get the DS6/2025 Alpha, so I am reading the discussions here with interest but no experience. Just wondering when I may be able to take a look at it myself.

Be wary of pl;acing too much reliance on user comments, people are always going to be far more likely to report problems than the reverse.

We don't actually know if stand-alone installers will be made available, they can cause issues. But you can (currently at least) download with DIM on a connected machine, copy the Downlaods folder to the offline machine, and install from there.

FWIW, I've been doing this for years - I download to an external USB drive on a laptop, then move the USB drive to the off-line system and use DIM to do the install. It's a 4 TB drive and I don't delete the downloads - that keps DIM convinced I've downloaded them and allows DIM to tell me if there are any updates to the products.
LOCAL USER cannot be found in DS 2025 (screenshot 1) Why ?
It always stays there in DS 4.x (screenshot 2)
Daz Studio 2025 ALPHA has just been updated. Try this:
Hit F2 (Preferences). Click on Content tab, and check both Show Hidden Products and Show Hidden Assets. Refresh the Content Library, and LOCAL USER should be visible.

I firstly launched the latest Public Build, opened two more instances by using the official multi-instance script. Then I launched the latest Alpha. After a while, the plugins in Public Build with serials required all turned unregistered !
I have to close all instances of Public Build, re-launch PB, then the plugins are all fine agian ~~

Threadripper, 128 GB RAM, NVME drives, Windows 10.
Updated and now the scene I was working on in the previous update will not load. It's unfortunate.
Do you get any error messages?
Found the new update and loaded without issues and was able to render a fast new scene easily. I am now rendering a USC1 scene I did yesterday and it seems to be going fine.
Used it on a USC1 render from some time ago.
