Been a while but had the Star Wars itch, so decided to do a complete remake of an old render to get back into the groove

    What? I'm busy.

Nice, particularly like the Cal and Merrin shot, glad she's finally getting an action figure too. In this outfit I believe.

I've just realised it has been a hot minute since I've updated anything on here. Well work is pretty much done on the Pirate Snub Fighter, due to more strict Intelectual Property rules over here, I'll have to create a custom version of it which is less screen accurate to be able to sell it on here, which is something I'll be working on in the background. Currently working on a little Limo Airspeeder, and then work begins on a commission.

In the meantime I thought I'd post a few pics of the 3D printed version of the Pirate Snub Fighter, as printed and built by pro physical modeller, Doug Corp. He has done absolutely brilliant work with my model, customising it to feature additional more comprehensive lighting effects, and an absolutely killer paint job. Damn he makes my work look good, he can build one of my models again!

    laughlaughlaugh

He took the result to the model competition at the recent Wonderfest convention and won an award, so that is certainly a good result!

    Here are the pics....

PICTURE ADDED FOR ATTENTION: (A photograph I took of a a semi-plush toy).  I'd MUCH prefer to be rendering this little guy!

Any updates on the models of The Mandalorian, The Child, and the Razor Crest that were being shown as WIPs here a while back by rduda and JoeQuick?  Just want to make sure I am not missing them somewhere - am happy to pay good money for them based on what I saw in the previews.

I've just gotten back to work on things.  I'm going to try to stick with it until I'm done.

When I started back in April, I was in a pandemic related  funk and not feeling very inspired.  So I figured I could at least keep my skills sharp just trying to copy something.

Then Daz switched over to their new themed based approach to figure launches, and all of a sudden I had more ideas for things I could make than I could figure out what to do with.

Anyway, here's an update on the child.  I morphed his hands and feet.

did anything ever come out of this?

If it did, I wasn't given the secret handshake and finger signs to get further notified. I got a fairly poor quality Grogu figure, but it was pretty awful. I'd still be super happy to shell out some coin for a decent figure!!

I did not stick with it until it was done.  I did content creation full time for three years and then left kind of sour and burnt out and went back to teaching.

@JoeQuick You need to take care of yourself and do what is best for you! Your models here have always been nothing short of AMAZING. Hopefully you someday renew your interest in creating 3D models again, if not, you did great things - I'm sorry it didn't bring you joy - it SHOULD!!

It brought me joy.  At the end though, it wasn't clear it was going to continue to bring enough money anymore to support my family.

Desperately looking for a DAZ Studio, or Blender 3D compatible fully-textured model of the Ahsoka E-Wing. I've found a couple stl files, but am not up to the task of texturing them from zero myself.  Any leads, or an estimate for a commission fee would be greatly appreciated!

These first two images are photos I took of the Kenner toy and the third image is from Ravendeviant - nothing in their post indicated this was a 3D model - thought I was SO CLOSE!

Thanks in advance.  Something ain't right with me about how freaking cool I think this ship is!  <LOL>

  • No arguments here. The E-Wing is nice. I've been a fan of it since it first debuted in the Dark Horse Dark Empire comics, and have loved all the different interpretations we've had on the design since then, from the more chunky, true to the originals, right down to the slick almost BSG Viper like takes I've seen some 3D artists go with. I do like what they did with the live action Ahsoka version, pretty true to the original design, with just a few well considered tweaks here and there. The 3rd laser cannon above the cockpit had to go, so impractical was that detail. The toy version is great too, have yet to unbox mine, just haven't found the time yet. Is the pilot figure for this out now?

Unfortunately I don't have any leads on a DAZ compatible CG model that is available of this at this time. I'd take a stab at it myself, but already have a pretty full dance card with my current to-do-list. Maybe at some point in the future.

Yes, the figure for this ship is available: STAR WARS The Vintage Collection Lieutenant Callahan, Ahsoka 3.75 Inch Collectible Action Figure on Amazon. I've sent a DM to the person on Deviant Art asking if there is a 3D model available.  As for the Kenner version of the ship - mostly AWESOME, but the cockpit slides and there's a terrible gap at the front edge. Lots of Photoshoppery.  Still, it is a beautiful ship design! Onward and Upward! Pressing on Regardless.
