Some Filatoon shots of Xiu, the new anime-inspired version of Xiao.  She works well with the style.

I'm a bit late in announcing this - But it looks like the Daz3D team was able to track down the issue that Mac users were having with a couple of the scripts in Easy FilaToon. They've released an update for Easy FilaToon. If you're on Mac, please update your download of Easy FilaToon and let me know if the "Base Feminine" and "Base Masculine" scripts now work for you! :D

These two scripts are in the very top folder of Easy FilaToon (found here: People >> Genesis 9 Toon >> Easy FilaToon). The scripts are the "Easy FilaToon - Base Feminine - APPLY FIRST" and "Easy FilaToon - Base Masculine - APPLY FIRST" scripts, with pink and blue icons, respectively. They should now work for Mac users, but if they don't, please let me know and I'll get in touch with the Daz3D team again. Hopefully they'll work ok for you guys now!

Thank you everyone who's supported this product! You all are awesome and I couldn't be happier with the response that Easy FilaToon has received! :D You all made my year!

I think they work? I don't get errors, but I guess I was expecting something different, but looking it over, it's working as it should.

First, they only work for Genesis 9 characters, selecting any other figures puts up a box advising you to select a Genesis 9 character, which makes sense if it's adding some toon anime morphs.

Second, it applies anime toon morph extras to the figure, where I guess I was just expecting it to make an outline and apply the skin settings, but that's just me misunderstanding. That said, it did a great job on it and is very useful and I'm going to use it a lot going forward.

Thanks 3Diva, the product works 100% now on at least *my* Mac and it's going to be used even more now going forward.

Ok. Let me say not any specific complaints about the product. What I am talking about is being able to do something with it. That is not a product problem. Sorry if what I said came across wrong.

Oh! That's a relief! lol :) I am not sure what is meant by "do something with it" - something specific that someone was trying to do? Or just not able to do anything with it? I would love to see what face book page and post you guys are talking about. I don't normally use face book so a link would be appreciated.

As for doing American comic book style, I think that's achievable.

Here are a few different styles that I think could work with a comic.

I think if people play around with the different presets, they can find a large variety of different styles can be made. :)

From where did that Superman morph, custom, and hair come from please? The hair especially. Your Easy Filatoons works perfect.

Hi, Walt! The Base Feminine and Base Masculine Scripts should definitely be applying the outline plus an Easy Filatoon shader preset as well as dialing in the Anime shape at 60%. Is it not applying the toon outline and Filatoon shader preset?

It is, no worries! I just didn't realize it would also add the Anime morphs, but that's just because I didn't fully study up on the product. It's great, I love the additions, so no worries! The bottom line is that I'm an even bigger fan than I was before.

Thanks again for this amazing product, I totally love it!

  • How do you get black hair? Will it always add a grey shader to it making the characters look older?

  • NetherFalcon said:

Here's the Filatoon version of the Lyna render I did.  I changed the hair out because I didn't like how the original looked in the Filatoon style.  And of course, different makeup options.  I think the Filatoon style is much better.

Very cool! How did you keep her eyes from changing to round anime eyes? How did you get her hair to be black color without any grey?

  • I just got this product today and its throwing an error message at me whenever I try to apply the feminine base to a gen 9 figure. Everything is installed. I'm on windows 11, daz 4.24. The error message says "please make sure you have Filatoon installed in its default folder" Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem!

I'm not sure how to interpret "Everything is installed." Make sure you have updated your Genesis 9 Starter Essentials and Default Resources for Daz Studio to the latest version.

Thank you for purchasing my product! In order to use Filatoon you need to have the Daz Studio default resource packages installed and the Genesis 9 Starter Essentials packages - basically need to make sure you're up to date on the latest Daz Studio resource packages that you should find in Daz Install Manager (DIM). You'll need to reinstall the resource packages because there has been an update to them to include all that's needed to be able to render the Filatoon shader.

See if you can use the Daz Studio default Filatoon shaders first (found under Shader Presets >> Filatoon). See if those work ok first. They are required in order for my product to work.

If you have those installed and you are able to use the Default Filatoon shader presets but not able to use my product, please let me know. I don't have a chance to check the forum often, so if you send me a direct message, I should get the notification via email.

I reinstalled everything required for Easy Filatoon to work and when it was still throwing the same error, I tried the shaders out and they work. So it's only the "Apply to BLANK" scripts that aren't working. I'm not sure why, the shader presets are there, and on the same drive. I did test the default filatoon shaders and they worked for me. I really don't know what's happening here, but a fresh install may be my only option at this point.

"Everything is installed" was meant to show I have all updates and products installed so there's nothing to update on them. I still tried a reinstall of them before I posted!

Are you applying the "Easy FilaToon - Base Feminine - APPLY FIRST" to a Genesis 9 figure?

I made a couple of tutorials, if you follow along with them do you still have the issue?

    @3diva

Just stumbled across this addon and really speeds things up for me as I've been converting Gen 9 manualy (without being able to convert eyes, brows, lashes, mouth until now). My question is: Can we remove certain objects from the auto convert for the body? I like using the OG mouth with individual teeth and then just manually converting to desired toon setup. I've tried hiding the mouth from the scene before conversion but your script unhides it, deletes it and replaces it anyways.

Things you obviously know but me just saying outloud: Unlike the body which uses morphs to convert the mesh, the mouth, eyes, brows, etc. are completly new objects which don't have a morph slider for me to adjust back to original.

I don't mind if the new objects come in and get parented, but maybe a "Don't remove OG Gen 9 meshs" check box would be sweet.

    Thanks,
    Tim

I just wanted to stop in and commend you for your work.

I had previously purchased your product, and then changed my mind. To be honest, I am easily confused.

I decided to cancel my request for a refund.

I am not sure when I'll find the courage or presence of mind to understand and use your product.

But I want  to recognize your dedication to the product and to your customers.

I will very likely find some helpful information in this thread alonel

I apologize if I've already said all the above. I decide to celebrate the New Year by drinking Scotch for the first time in my life.

The new experience has been very smooth.

The script that brings in the toon stuff is pretty complex, so when you use it you'll just need to re-add the regular mouth and delete the toon mouth. Probably the easiest way to do that is when you load the character, before you run the script, just save a Wearable Preset and only select the mouth to be saved as the wearable. Then after you run the script you can load that Wearable preset that loads the mouth again. And to save yourself and additonal step, you could even apply FilaToon shaders to the mouth BEFORE saving it a wearable preset, that way you don't have to do it after you load it every time.

I figured I may have to do that, and thanks for the tips on achieving it smoothly. More than happy with the script so far, it's a big time saver.

I just got this product today and its throwing an error message at me whenever I try to apply the feminine base to a gen 9 figure. Everything is installed. I'm on windows 11, daz 4.24. The error message says "please make sure you have Filatoon installed in its default folder" Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem!

That is one of the things that's giving me the error, yes! I try to apply that to a gen 9 figure and it's telling me I don't have the presets in the right folder.

I still have the issue with the tutorials, yes! I actually tried them the first time I kept getting the error.

What happens if you try to apply the Filatoon shader directly to some object, without using the converter?
