I did go over that in the tutorial. The tutorial states that the first distant light in the scene tab is the one that is "seen" by the render engine. You can do whatever you want with the cameras and lights. If you don't like the one that comes with the "load this first" you can load a different one from the camera list. You can hide the other distant light and camera or delete it. The cameras and lights are slightly different - they're just different options. People can do what they want with the options or ignore them. It's up to the user what they want to do.
Thanks, and sorry to bother you about what you already explained. I need to watch the tutorial again, I guess. I watched the videos when the product was first released, but I just now got to use it. Time is not the friend of memory!
Here is my first result.
Wow! This really is just like PWToon!
I'm clicking around on a few more settings. This uses one of the water shaders on a background cylinder.
This is my first ok test run with Easy Filatoon, still struggling with hair and eyes, so I have resorted to Manga Makers eyes then convert to filatoon, which makes the eyes white. but i think this is ok, Im still struggling with hair, some hair turns out ok and some not. Tried looking for tutorials but not getting it. I try to find the Tessalation setting but dont know where that is. I have to remove the opacity cut out on all hairs as it but turns a solid colour when converted. Im loving this product so far. But let me know what you think. Any tips and tricks I could use or tutorials on hair and opacity maps would be greatly appreciated.
Also! how do you get pictures into the main post? Mine only comes up as an attachment.
I'm enjoying the renders! Thank you, guys!
@dsum55 Did you watch the tutorial? That tells how to preserve the cutout opacity/transparency maps. :) But yeah, some hair just looks better with no transparency maps.
That looks pretty darn good to me! Here's a tip on embedding your image into the message: https://www.versluis.com/2021/08/how-to-add-an-image-in-your-post-on-the-daz-forum/
I did, however will need to watch aagain. Its an awesome product will keep using and getting better.
Thanks
Still having fun with this.
Chloe here is waiting to be seen by the Iray Doctor. She's found herself stuck in the Filatoon World. She doesn't mind it here, but she'd like to go home and she's been in the waiting room for an hour now. She's not amused!
@TesseractSpace Your cast of characters is just fabulous! They're all so different but they all look like they can belong to the same universe. I like that you've given each alien character a "color palette" that is complementary.
@NetherFalcon If Chloe does go home, I hope she comes back soon. I like seeing her in the FilaToon world! :D
Chloe will definitely be back to the Filatoon world. She has some unfinished Iray business to finish first!
Genesis 3 Female with a mix of Aiko 7 and Aiko 6. Eclipse Sci-Fi Environment, StarSlayer outfit, Waterfall Tails hair.
This was mostly a test to get a feel for their different heights. The color palettes were mostly a matter of what looked good to me. Funny you mention them belonging to the same universe as the human (Eleanor) ends up with them because she's from another universe. :)
Finished up the crew, from left to right: Leisl/Thorn - Quartermaster, Darati Gwn - Passenger, Quala - Captain, Emnarillionthalasa(Enma) - Navigator, Eleanor Asher - Engineer, Yurei Minako - Medic.
I'm still kind of unsure about the last one because she's G8, where the others are G9, so I can't put her in the general-purpose armored uniform I'm planning to use. However, she's a ghost in a containment suit, so she doesn't necessarily need armor. But pretty much everything is Easy Filatooned one way or another.
I'm so glad you're making progress on your characters! I think my favorites are the Captain, the Navigator, and, of course, the human, Eleanor! The last one looks a bit like a Mortal Kombat character.
Yeah, the mask does give that look, she's a Kuchisake Onna, so she needs a mask but I may just swap her out for something else so I can use G9 for consistency.
Yeah, it might be easier to use all the same figure - that way you can stay in one place when looking for poses and wearables and not have to bounce around to different folders for different generation figures. In the long run, it might save some time in loading too - if you're anything like me, G8F takes a lot longer to load than G9 figures because I have so much more content for G8F. lol
Ok, redid the medic, new medic is named 'Spect and she brings her disturbingly oversized and dangerous looking medical examination tool with her. Also added the ship's pet Spurgner Flipsbottle the Fourth. Also built some other characters who will be crossing paths with the ship and its misfit crew
HAHAH The medic is delightful! SO CUTE! I love that you made her mini and so unique! What a cool-looking crew!
I really enjoy polishing up older figures. I have so many great character morphs for Genesis 1, it's a lot of fun bringing Genesis 1 back out. Filatoon with older figures is just a great pairing, in my opinion! :D
Genesis 1 - dialspin mix:
One thing to note is that popular iconic characters usually have very limited color palettes. Spiderman's red and blue. Wolverine's yellow and blue. The Incredibles red, black, and yellow. Ironman's red and yellow. Superman's blue, red, and yellow. Joker's purple, yellow, and green. Almost all the most iconic and memorable characters have very limited color palettes. I think that helps to make them both instantly recognizable and makes them more memorable.
So I think, when designing our own characters, choosing a very limited color palette could help create more memorable and recognizable characters.
Here's the Filatoon version of the Lyna render I did. I changed the hair out because I didn't like how the original looked in the Filatoon style. And of course, different makeup options. I think the Filatoon style is much better.
I agree, very nice! I like how the character stands out so much more from the background in the Filatoon verison,
I really, really like the tooning here, it's what I'm working (very slowly) towards. The skin, especially, is perfect.
I was a huge fan of pwToon and rendered hundreds, if not thousands of images with it, but this is easly 10x better. Imagine having all of or more than the control of pwToon, but it's instantaneous. No minutes- or hours-long renders, it's in the viewport, all the time. Huge posters in seconds, a minute of 1080p animation finished in an hour.
I'd been hoping to have something this to use in my retirment, and now... it's here.
It's been a great week for me for DAZ Studio, and Easy Filatoon has sped things up immensely. It's paid for itself the first day or two.
I too noticed how the presets for this look a LOT like PWtoon presets, and that is a VERY good thing.
