I got this email --- but can't find the DAZ 2025 ???
This is such a great community
sorry for bitching in the past.
Also; would be awesome to have a LIKE button - because it's missing, consider each post with a LIKE from my side
To date, only PAs seems to have access to it based on messages on the forum.
It's just a guess on my part, but maybe it's because the alpha was only pushed to the Private build channel (which is, afair, somewhere on the wiki, described as the channel most likely to see alpha releases and only reserved to selected people) and not the Public Build channel.
I've not tried downloading it yet, we might need to wait until someone at Daz is in the office and pushes the right button...
That wouldn't surprise me.
If that be the case all this advertising the new version will be for nothing, and may cause agravation.
It is there for download. There were direction on how to get it. In DIM you need to go into Advanced Settings, mark the box next to "Daz Studio 2025 (6.x)" and it should show in Ready to Download, you may need to do a search for it like the direction say. I just filtered by "Programs>All"
No, it's not there at the moment, and hasn't been since DAZ midnight. And yes, I'm running the latest version of DIM and my filters are set correctly.
I just downloaded it so not sure what's happening then.
Oh well, it'll appear in its own time no doubt.
It'll likely be fixed once someone get back to Daz office, can check what happened and fix it, so at worse it would have a been a couple of hours without accessing it. In the grand scheme of things, it's a minor inconvenience.
PAs and moderators are able to access it since the day started, but I don't think I have seen a non PA saying they were able to download it and most likely will have to wait for the person with the knowledge / access to fix the situation to start a new work day, in a couple of hours.
You probably see the Publishing Build which has limited access (that's what I see at least). The Public Build which would be available for everybody is not there yet though.
It does look promising, tested on daz 2025 alpha
In my own test scenes with several characters the 5090 was around 20 percent faster than a 4090 and the connection to Iray Server worked perfectly. DS 2025 works pretty good.
Yes, it was available to PAs and that is why some people saw it (I don't get the PA version, however, so it isn't all mods). It is starting to appear, though you might want to hold off until the plug-ins are all (or as many as will be) available too - so far I see the base application and GoZ.
That was my fault.
I didn't notice it was a different version. I got excited and jumped the gun. Being in the newsletter, I didn't think to even look and just installed.
Initial impression, running on a 40xx series card, is that it pushes the GPU harder than Studio 4.23 using an old scene.. Maybe it is rendering faster, I don't have the means to test it, plus it needs testing in a methodical way. I'm aware it is an Alpha release, so may not be optimised.
I can see a 30% faster rendering times with my 5080 than my 4070ti, but i need to try with plugins and optimizations to get better results, but for now it's amazing!
LIke a number of Mac users, it crashed on the initial launch but seems stable thereafter. Super pumped with Filatoon, rendered a quick 1080p animation, 24 frames in 34.27 seconds, very, very happy. The interface seems much clearer and sharper, much easier to read the text (though it might be my euphoria at finally getting Filament talking).
Mind you, this means I have very little to nag Richard about now...
I hope we're not going to see PA's assuming everyone now has a 5090 and making content that won't work properly on anything less.
oh cool, looking forward to the new Filatoon adventures of Hrimfaxi
Thanks, that's the dream...
My 5090 is running smooth and fast ... the new DAZ 2025 is a work of art ... never noticed how much my 3D mouse is worth ... can't live without it ... probably will be soon implemented
For non-5090 stuff there is now a dedicated thread https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/728111/daz-studio-2025-alpha-version-6-25-2025-11206#latest
I will try my very best to bug them to no end to get 3D mice working, because I feel the same :) Slightly concerning though, a while ago they announced that plugin was discontinued, right? I think I remember something like that.
Nice! Interested in seeing the benchmarks! How is the viewport view and the denoiser looking? My prediction was that those would see the bigger uplift due to the tensor cores.
I'm also curious about the 5070Ti.
The test version of DAZ studio 2025 has been released. This is undoubtedly an exciting piece of news!
I've been thinking about changing my graphics card recently, but I've been struggling to decide whether to choose the 5090 or the 5080.
Could everyone on the forum tell me how much better the 5090 is than the 5080 in the use of Daz? Thank you very much!
We have two results from the benchmark thread:
NVidia GeForce RTX 5090: 1800.0 iterations, 48.027 s
NVidia GeForce RTX 5080: 1800.0 iterations, after 01:17.385 = 77.385 s
5090 is around 37.9% faster than a 5080
And it also has twice as much VRAM, so for any scene using between 16 and 32 GB of VRAM, it is many time more faster than an 5080 ever will :D
I've also invested in a 5090 PC last week, should arrive today or tomorrow. I would recommend a 5090 merely for the increase in VRAM being double (32GB) vs. 5080's (16GB). As well as the increase in CUDA/Tensor cores (Just google the spec difference).
The 5090 vs. my 4080 should give a vast increase in Iray preview speed (Which is why I even considered it). Will my house burn down? We shall see...
Tried the Alpha build to put my 5090 through some basic tests. Nothing too ground breaking, just wanting to see some initial benchmarks. Thought I would leave it here for anyone curious as to performance.
Can happily say I am very pleased with what I have seen thus far. Loading in a single G8 character, and the viewport render is almost instant. Program runs smoothly, more so with denoiser. Intial render times were not even 5 seconds, even at 4k. Adding in some higher quality clothes/hair/skin textures plus an HDRI, the render times looked like this:
1080p @ 1800 iterations: 14~ secs
4K @ 1800 iterations: 42~ secs
Using denoiser, I can trim off even more with very minimal loss of detail. Pretty much can only see it in the hair, but even then it isn't too much. Then the 1080p goes down to <10 secs, 4K just below 30. In all renders my GPU barely did more than purr at me for the effort, so clearly not even dipping into what it can really do just yet. No excessive heat or anything.
As for the program itself, I like the new UI. Something about it just looks cleaner. Heard that WASD navigation is busted atm (not sure I never use it myself) and scripts don't seem to work, but those should be fixed with some updates. I haven't used it much, but haven't experienced any crashes so far. Products and scenes load noticeably faster. Even the product library has no lag when loading long lists of items (I have >1200 products, so there was some slight but notable slowdown when loading lists/images for products on previous version). Overall, rather pleased. Just need to wait for Daz to move it out of Alpha so producers can update their scripts, but I doubt that will be too long.
EDIT: Thought I would also mention that my previous rig had a 3090Ti, in case this helps anyone put the above numbers into perspective for potential upgrades. Render times were 3x longer on that GPU, versus the 5090, in my experience. That is with the exact same set up / products used.
Ok, I see. Thanks!
