I've resigned myself to the fact that most people use "medieval" to refer to anything pre-Victorian... which is at least closer than the time I was doing a promo event for the local Renaissance festival and was (for that day anyway) the handmaiden to a noblewoman in full (quite accurate) regalia.

We got asked if we were from "the Titanic era."

I'd say I lost so much faith in humanity that day, except that by that point I already had under my belt several years at re-enactments with patrons asking if the fire (or the food I was eating, or the baby some woman was nursing, or...) was real.

Oooh I just died laughing ... Thank you!

From my personal experience as a viking re-enacter and food stall owner at medieval faires here in germany in the 80's it was quite different here and then. People weren't totally clueless, even though we managed to surprise them with historical facts like the lack of potatoes on the menu and other details. Might be that living among architecture that sometimes is 500+ years old widens the mind a bit. wink

Quite welcome. IIRC my noblewoman replied with something on the order of, "A little earlier, by about 400 years," in a kind voice and with a smile. Which is better than the sarcastic "Yeah, because Rose was clinging to that board in a full hoopskirt, right?" that I was biting back hard.

I think it really might. For the most part, folks in America think our own revolution is super-ancient, and really don't think back past that much. The recent uptick of historical shows (Tudors, Vikings, etc.) has shifted that somewhat, and in fairness there have also always been patrons who get really into the whole thing... but we still get way too many that we have to convince not to find out the hard way that the fire is, in fact, real. (Maybe they just think our props budget is far, far bigger than it is...?)

Just never trust a salesman who says this is a "last chance" sale. Buy when its worth it.

As an American I can attest to the cultural hallmark of overstating size as a compensation for our insecurities.  wink  Those huge pickup trucks and overconfident pickup lines toward women all come from the same place.  And our country is also a little kid compared to the ages of others out there.

But on the topic of the Victorian style, I am definitely a fan.  I love all the art of that era, and one of the reasons Cecelia 9's bundles is one of my favorites in recent times.  I also find that our appropriately named Victoria perfectly also fits the look of that era.  She has that medieval look where she can be a damsel in distress, or a leader of an army.  Freja is a great option for a viking look-but I still prefer Victoria.  Add about a foot in height, some muscle and she's got it!

I'm also wildly in love with Victorian era fashions, especially the later 19th, and I positively adored the Cecelia set - can so much relate!

Last chance often means last chance at this price. I am grateful for extended sales. I have projects and adversities that consume my time and interfere with shopping here. And although not all extended sales offer as good a discount offered on a previous day, it is an opportunity for late-to-the-party-shoppers, to participate in discounted products. I have often forgotten to check out and found a cart to be triple the price, because the sale was ended or I missed the last chance to grab it at a greater discount.

not sure if right thread to mention this but for awhile now at least from the star ofmarch madness bought items are still showing up in store as not bought which makes it easy to accidently buy something more than once with my memory I forget if I have or not at first it was mainly in the mad door prizes but it's spread to even new releases and other sales now lightning deals today in one bought couple items in ld and jjust went back to see if time went over for next batch and those two items not bought and again same with new releases I've bought lately and other sales lately I've had to go back and forwards checking my product library to confirm whether I've already bought something again think I've at least doubled up on some of the cheap items sales in hindsight

For me, the store is absolutely showing stuff as unbought when it's already bought. I think it's a race between some script checking the purchase history and some script serving up the page. I have to refresh any given product page over and over until I'm sure I'm seeing the accurate indication of bought or unbought.

The store also seems to be unwishlisting wishlisted items, but I think what's maybe happening there is a script not committing the item to the wishlist in the background while the page shows an affirmative visual indication to the user. So, I wishlist a group of items and then refresh the search page and carefully verify that each one got the intended heart.

Thi purchases not showing affects some users but not others - try clearing cookies. That may help with the wishlist issue, if not please open a support ticket

At this point, I gotta think MM is running through Easter. I could be wrong. The sale can keep going as long as Daz likes! I still see things on the weekend that make it worthwhile to buy, and I sometimes like to get a little treat. laugh

When you get to the point you have to use the word "absolute" because "final" no longer has meaning...

    Yeah.

Oh, heh, I suppose it is. While I love all the candy that shows up, I never really pay attention to the date of the actual holiday.

I'll never understand the "final weekends" and other offers like that: "Now you have to buy two (not exactly new anymore) releases you didn't buy when you only had to buy one to get the same discount you didn't care for enough when you only had to buy one new release to get it."

There's literally no incentive to buy if one has second thoughts... But I suppose it might be aimed at the people who didn't have time to shop in the last month.

Someone may not have been able to get them the day they were released, either because they didn't have the money to pay for them, or were not able to find a cart justifiying paying a new release or it was released the day after buying something else and their little piggy bank was looking at them funny, but not the funny kind of funny.

Or they 'gambled' Daz would do a big catch sale at the end of March Madness, placing what they wanted in their wishlist and now that it's there, they are busy chasing their piggy bank all over their home, to make one big cart.

I like that the catch up sales often do good things for the lightning deals. And I can appreciate that they're likely a second (third, fourth...) chance mercy to people who had Adult Stuff come up.

For me it's almost always an easy day of nope if it includes a buy-in, unless the rest of the sale drops everything low enough that it more than covers the price. Now that they've got minimum floor prices, that's far less likely to happen.

Que sirrah... apparently discount Easter candy is on the horizon. Reeses eggs and chocolate rabbits are looking far more enticing than the deals here.

My sale going very well. I pledged not to buy anything until they answered my ticket from 23 March. Its now 22 days including weekends.  So nearing a month of savings. The ticket is basically useless anyway considering it pertains to what I think is early termination of my premier membership but more importantly it casued a loss of 8 tokes and well over $100 of savings from the sale going on. My fault though for allowing it to get to what I thought was going to be my last day of purchasing, but the membership ended before I could even buy the stuff. Anyway, such it is

EDIT: I did spend $145 in March, however, which is pushing it for my wallet, especially as a hobbyist.

Surprisingly, the latest WL deal is appealing, but only because the Willow add-on, which I already planned to get**, has returned to Still New. AND a Still New will act as its own trigger for at least some discounts. So I think I can make a cart of older & thus "eligible for $10/25 coupon" items plus a new item (probably a TOS clothing Iray add-onto, which drop to ~ $3 in cart) to get a few more tokens, then buy the Willow add-on with said tokens and the $10 off Ddecided n. I am doing more cart math than usual before deciding.

Re: Easter Chocolate - yes, Yes, YES to spending on discount Easter candy!!!! Must beg Beloved & Amazing Son (a lead at grocery store) to grab me a bunch as an early Mother's Day gift, so I have even more. Hoping also for Cadbury Eggs & anything Snickers.

**Yeah, yeah, I know... But after further consideration, I have decided upon the classic tactic of, "If you can't beat 'em - join 'em!"

LDs still have to offer something I actually want. I like Adult Stuff. I've been to the Naughty Store and bought Adult Stuff there, too. Different stroke for different folks, I guess. I've seen some stuff I can't unsee, too. surprise

Buy-in is avoided unless I have a big glob of store credit and the buy-in is really cheap. That doesn't happen very often. Floor prices are a new unpleasantness. Let me be philosophical about it. When they're applied to PA items, the floor hopefully guarantees the PA gets something for the item. Now, on a single item, that means the item costs more than it would have cost in sales a few years ago. I know this.

Even so, we're in a cycle where it seems that content costs more compared to previous years. People buy for their own reasons. For me, the $2 floor doesn't matter if I'm looking at a bundle or if I'm looking at something I really do like and want to buy. I sometimes knowingly buy things that are a little overpriced for what they are. Even though I'm a brutal bargain hunter, I've decided that it's ok to spend a little more for some stuff. Usually, the item is still very little money vs. the effort it would take to make myself (if I can even do that). If I don't buy it, there is always a chance the item will disappear from the store. That happens! I'm not saying anyone should buy any particular thing at any particular price or time. I'm really saying, it's ok to buy and it's ok to sit out. It just depends. angel

As for Easter candy, I don't really want any. I still have stuff from the winter holidays. blush I hope you do enjoy yours!
