I don't think you should copy files to the Manifest folders. That would tell DIM that the files were already installed.

I am not prepared to download the normal Daz Studio as when I last heard it causes the metal chips to lock up (I may have that wrong, but it didn't play nice so we were warned to avoid it.)

If you don't have any plugin by Manfriday, DS 4.23.0.1 should work fine on your Mac. If you do have one or more, they will crash during DS 4.23.0.1 starting sequence (Daz Studio will work fine outside of that) and they will not be usable: the problem was fixed in DS 4.23.0.3 and 4.23.0.4.

For reaons unkown, Daz has yet to push either of these PB builds to replace the buggy general release, at least for MacOS users: it would allow them an access to a stable release (I'm using it since its release), one that will not crash plugins or crash itself due to Qt and recents versions of MacOS fighting each other (a problem solved with DS 4.23) and either use it exclusively or alongside the recently released PB DS 4.23.1.x.

With MacOS's you have to type in your password to approve a change to a program or a plugin, well I think my problem started with me miss-typing my password. A bandage on a damaged fingernail. But a reboot of the computer, check of the access approvals, and I found DIM had lost access to the disk and all files for changes. That fixed the issue. And even if DIM thinks the packages are from Oct 2024, the Beta now reflects the new 4.23.1.20 version number.

Edit to correct spelling.

DIMHelper also needs permission as that is the one that handles software and things that install like software (e.g. plug-ins)

I have bought pretty much every ManFriday plugin and use them on all my computers without trouble. But since I Dec 2024, I have been focused on getting the MacMini set-up and have ignored my other computers a lot.

There is one plugin Daz Support had me remove until 4.22 came out and that was Iray GeoLocator. It gave me issues with the M1 chip. That was fixed and then I started noticing issues again in a later version of 4.23. Not sure just when it happened.

I prefer to use the latest Public Build, so the General Release is safe from me. Thanks for the warning @Elor about those plugins though, I will see how they work on the MacMini M4. I do love Mesh Grabber.

Richard, apparently on the MBP DZInstallHelper was okay, and located under Privacy & Security - App Management. I swear everytime there is an update to the OS, the System Settings seem to move around on me. Yet on the MacMini M4, it shows up under Full Disk Access.

Thanks for reminding me to check on it.

Is the Manager downloading and installing packages normally for you? For me, it started failing one package download some thirty minutes ago. I then tried to get that product from my product library, but the download would also fail. Then I moved to DIM again and tried downloading different stuff. But it's behaving like kind of a global event for me. Most things won't download at all.

• barbultbarbult Posts: 26,156

I downloaded and installed the two Daz+ freebies without a problem.

Thanks, barbult. I've just checked again and I still can't get those same products that I tried before. They are all old stuff. I still have over 4,000 items that I haven't downloaded in DIM yet. I will let a few hours pass and try again, with the hope that it's a transitory problem.

There is an issue affecting one of the download suppliers, it is being worked on - all we can suggest is retrying later.

• JumbotronJumbotron Posts: 262

Thanks, Richard. I'll do that. Good to know that it's not a problem on my end at least.

• JumbotronJumbotron Posts: 262

All the downloads seem to be working fine again. I've downloaded and installed in DIM all the products that were giving me problems yesterday plus a few more. :)

• TaozTaoz Posts: 10,227

I've been keeping an eye on the sizes of the installers as well as the installed products of things I've been installing recently. Often the installed size is the double or more (sometimes even several times) of the size of the installers, which is a huge waste of disk space.

May I suggest an option in DIM for compressing uncompressed .duf and other files that are compressible, during installation. Should not be that difficult to make.

No issues here, been downloading and installing files daily for the last week.

New version out today. My two cents...

1.4.1.87 (April 4, 2025)

• Look & Feel
• Modified the disabled/disconnected CMS Status icon in the main window to be more easily distinguished from the enabled/connected CMS Status icon

Asked about this myself a while ago. Thanks. It puts a diagonal bar through the disc stack on the icon when disconnected. (You need to restart Studio to get the connection back in DIM after updating)

• Package Installation
• Attempting to install a package that depends on an application path being defined now displays a message rather than an empty application selection dialog if the target application is not in the list of applications that can be manually defined and the target application has not been installed (which create an entry during installation) - e.g., DAZ Studio 4.x Public Build (64-bit)
• Package Thumbnails
• Improved support for source image formats
• Products that do not provide an image in a consistent format were not handled in earlier versions, and so did not result in thumbnails being saved locally when retrieved
• Added redirection handling for thumbnail retrieval
• Attempts to retrieve a package thumbnail that resulted in a redirection response would not follow the instruction in earlier versions
• Improved logging when attempting to retrieve thumbnails
• Operating System Detection
• Extended support for detecting operating systems
• macOS 14 (Sonoma)
• macOS 15 (Sequoia)
• Configuration (Advanced Settings)
• Accounts
• Added the ability to modify the order of Accounts via context menu
• Move to Top
• Move Up
• Move Down
• Move to Bottom
• Downloads
• Added support for the Daz Studio 2025 (6) tag - DAZStudio6

Hm-m. Daz Studio 2025 (6)? What happened to 5? No matter, something's coming...

• Installation
• Added the ability to modify the order of Content Path Shortcuts via context menu
• Move to Top
• Move Up
• Move Down
• Move to Bottom
• Applications
• Extended support for application versions:
• ZBrush (2024, 2025)
• Unreal Engine (5.3, 5.4., 5.5)
• Unity (6)
• Maya (2025)
• Daz Studio (2025)
• Cinema 4D (2024, 2025)
• Blender (4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4)
• 3ds Max (2025)

Would compressing files create problems if I want to un-install a product with DIM ?

I don't think so, uninstall probably just deletes the installed files, whether the file is compressed or not should be irrelevant in that context.

When Richard started referring to the next major version of DAZ Studio being not "5" but "whatever they decide to call it" my first few posts assumed something like, "DAZ Studio 2028" but I may have been pessimistic. He also mentioned that there are two paths of development, where any new features are added to both. Seeing references to DAZ 2024/2025 makes it *look* like we'll get the next major update this year, but then we might be back here next year looking at the dev logs for "2025/2026" too.

Still, we can dream, right?

I have the new DIM v.1.4.1.87 installed and for the first time, some of today's purchases didn't show up for download (3 of 11). I checked each item in the Product Library to make sure they had install buttons and did a search in DIM for their names, and didn't find them. At first I worried I had accidentally bought somethings I owned. Finally did a refresh of DIM and then the missing 3 showed up. Just want to record this in case anyone else has this issue and what I did can help them.

I've seen this a couple of times with the previous version, but not with the current one yet. I suspect it's a server issue.

On my Mac, the dock icon is showing a circle-with-slash symbol. The program seems to be working normally.

Hello,

What's this Public Build Install Modules package? Should I install it? I have the Public Builds for both versions 4.X and 6 (2025) installed and I'm keeping them up to date. Although admittedly, I don't give the Public Builds barely any use at the moment.

It's an update for DS to help DS 2025 manage content, I believe.

Modules are a series of associated products which can be selected for instalaltion in one go - you will probably have already seen the non-beta one for Daz Studio, which will install the application, the plug-ins, and the free content. This adds a similar one step option for the 2025 alpha and its parts.

I see. That's interesting. I can't recall seeing one of this modules before, though. But I remember changing the download filters in DIM fews days ago, after seeing a recommendation about the filters that should be checked off for the Install Manager to retrieve the Daz 2025 Alpha from the servers. So my guess is that whatever changes I did in DIM then have made this module package appear and be available for download and install. :)

It's the first time a new set was added since the originals, in order to avoid (or at least try to reduce) the issues people were having with finding the alpha.

Installation

• In Install Manager, if you filter using sku::109051, you should see a package labeled Public Build Install Modules
• When installed, this package causes an Install Modules > Public Build... action to appear in the Settings (cog - top right) menu of Install Manager
• Clicking the action will cause a Public Builds Install Sets dialog to appear
• Much like the Default Install Set, this dialog provides options for a specific subset of packages to download/install - in a "playlist" like manner
• There are Install Sets for Daz Studio 2025 (6.x) Public Build, as well as Daz Studio 4.x Public Build

No, it is a convenience for those who do intend to install the DS 2025 betas.
