Thanks Artini! It was pretty fast at around 7 seconds per frame. This was 30s of video, about 760 frames, 1280 x 720 resolution, and probably took about 1.5 hours with my 3080. It's G8 and a largish Xivon environment.

My previous music video project that I shared in the regular Filatoon thread was faster at around 3 seconds per frame - 1 min 45 seconds, 3200 frames,  1280 x 720 res - which would take about 3 hours to render. It was G9 in a simpler setting, but a more proper planned-out thing.

I don't know how fast animation was for you in Unity, but FilaToon animation seems pretty fast and fun. I remember that you mentioned in your thread that that aspect brought you back to considering animation in DS, so I hope you try it. Limitations I've noticed are really more the usual issues with animation in DAZ.

I'm going to try converting some larger scenes with 3Diva's set and see how they look. I like both the full toon styles, and the more realistic 3D-characters-cel-shaded looks. And with all of the Easy FilaToon presets, it's even more versatile. Too many things to explore and experiment with! smiley

Yes with FilaToon is much faster to render videos in Daz Studio than with iray.

For videos I prefer Unity, where I can get realtime recording of animations.

Easy FilaToon is great for conversions of environments and makes Genesis 9 characters looking interesting.

I did a little touch-up and switched out the environment for Fabiana's Sage Babylon just because it looks so nice. I'm really enjoying the ease of converting sets and setting up a look.

I'm looking forward to seeing a series with this character (hopefully I can read it and it's PG-13). lol That's such a cute character! What is her name?

Got round to trying out Easy FilaToon - and unsurprisingly, it's easy to use! smiley Love the wonderful, detailed video tutorials. And love all the presets and how quickly we can cycle through them to see what works. heartMany are useful as shortcuts in other renders too, like the surface selection and bloom functions.

I decided to try it on G8.1 - didn't take as long as I feared and I was happy with the results. I was even pleasantly surprised that animation with G8.1 was only a bit slower (a manageable 2-3 times slower than my previous project with G9, but that may just have been the larger environment?).

I was trying out the Arabian Palace Courtyard for a DAZ+ challenge, and decided to turn it into an animation after converting it to FilaToon. (I used a free animation from a set in the freebies forum, and made a little "ambient bellydance practice track" for this sequence.) I did do some color grading in post in the video software, but I often do.

I'm definitely going to put this to use in converting some of my older G8 projects and see what I can do! Fun and very useful. Thanks 3Diva! heart

That turned out So Good! I really enjoyed seeing the Easy FilaToon product used in an animation! The music and ambiance was a nice touch too - Well done!

I'm aiming for a SFW level. She's Eleanor Asher, a normal college student who became cosmically unstuck after stumbling across a strange artifact. After 20 something years of bouncing from universe to universe and barely surviving (getting physically reset in new world to the age and condition she was in when her journey started), she managed to get herself into some serious trouble and came out with a massive upgrade. Then she lands in an alternate earth where she sets off a mass empowering event. Feeling responsible for the chaos caused, she anchors herself in that universe so even if she gets bounced elsewhere she'll snap back after a few days. Then she assembles a group of odd characters to help quell the chaos from the folks who use their new powers to wreak havoc.

It's mostly just a way for me to play out the stories of a few dozen characters I've made over the last few decades.

Got three panels of the first page done today thanks to your tools. The library was fun to convert as an evironment of over 1,000 parts. All for one panel. :)

TesseractSpace Massive story! I can only imagine how many volumes this is going to be?! wink Nice work on the first three panels. yes

3Diva Thank you! I'm having fun trying out your set - it gives me a chance to get a good idea about how to apply it to a proper project. Have to commend you on the amazing organization and attention to detail. I've yet to try some of the specific recipes you list in the videos, but I really appreciate the consistency in the folders, so that we can consistently stick to a single style for an idea etc. without too much effort.

I FilaTooned Yumiko this evening for a DAZ+ challenge - your presets made it easy to change things up and get a consistent look going.

    Yumiko and Sidekicks

UPDATE: Did a couple more before signing off on Yumiko and her cute sidekicks... and that's enough from me for a bit... wink Consistent and quick. This is fun!

Yumiko and Sidekicks: Hurry, the bridge is under attack!

Looks like a great product, I'll snap it up if or when the next major version of DAZ Studio 5 allows Mac users to use Filament.

That's a bummer that Mac users still can't use Filament, but I do know that they are working on that. Hopefully it won't be much longer.

We were told that Filament worked on the Mac pre-beta back in the summer of 2021, so it should still work when the DAZ Studio 5/Next/Whatever comes out. I took a gamble back then and bought some Filament scripts and products that have sat for years untouched, but because DAZ hasn't yet – against all odds – destroyed my final iota of optimisim, I broke down and purchased your product with some other Filatoon products. I think that purchases of high-end nVidia cards that don't work in *this* verison of DAZ Studio may spur the release of the Next DAZ Studio to "sooner" rather than "some day".

Hopefully I won't be sitting here in 2026 regretting that last spark of optimism.t

WOW! I'm already drawn into the story just based on your description and the first three panels! AWESOME! I really look forward to this series! It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun to read!

I hope you don't mind me adding the larger version of the pannels you uploaded so that those on mobile devices can see it as well:

Oh my! These renders made my day! hahah These came out SO GOOD! The storytelling is fantastic too. It makes me want to know more about these guys and the shenanigans they get up to.

Thank you so much for sharing these with us. I can't stop grinning looking at these renders!

That's so sweet to read - thank you! I'm so happy to see people using the product and finding it helpful with their art and storytelling! I was very much hoping to see some storytelling with this product, as it's something I'm using for my own comic - so it's quite exciting to see others finding it helpful for sequential art as well!

So many people have stories they want to tell, messages they want to send out into the world, and I hope that this product can help them do that.

I think VDB Volumetrics might be Iray only. I don't think I own any VDB products to test it, but I will try and look through my library later to see if I have any and then could test it. My guess is that it's Iray only, it would be nice if I'm wrong about that though! As it would be cool to use volumetric clouds and explosions in Filament.

I haven't even gotten to some of the group she gathers, like the Were-ficus private investigator, the reanimated patchwork monster, the "supervillian" who is a lot nicer than her 'heroic' counterpart, the Fae princess raised on Earth, a few others, each with their own genre to play around with. May even do little stories from each of their POVs with different recipes.

    Anyhow here's the full page:

Oh that's a great start! The visuals are really nice and I love that you start us off right away with a question and we just jump right into the thick of the story without a lot of backstory or leadup (which can be boring sometimes). So it's great to get right into it! This is a fantastic start! :D

I see you posted in the 3D Comic Book Tips and Pictures thread, I really like the new style much better - the NPR style works great with your character. You've gotten a lot better at the lettering too - much clearer and easier to read with the new lettering!

Yeah, you can see how fuzzy the iray panels were because my old system took too long to render anything so I'd 'finish' before the image was really ready. I think I was using ComiPo for the comic elements, and Comic Life just does a better job.

I use Blender matcap styles for my  Comics & Graphic Novels but I agree, Comiclife is the absolute best page & panel layout software available.heart

So 9 days ago I said I couldn't really see myself using toon style much, but after having my initial interest sparked by this product I started of course looking more into it. I watched some tutorials, I experiemented myself with the Daz default toon shaders on my old G8 content. And I have to say my opinion is completely changed. And its thanks to 3Diva or I probably wouldn't have given it a deeper look. Now I see all the cool styles that can be created, I've created some style of my own that I could be proud to call my own, and the best thing, besides the absolute mad speed in rendering, is that it defeats the "uncanny valley" problem that has plagued Day Iray renders for so long. It really makes animating with Daz something you could be proud of. I still have your product in my wishlist of course and will buy it before the end of this march madness, but just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration. You have rekindled a fresh interest in Daz for me, It feels like starting over again and its great. I thought animation would never be a real possibility for me, but now it feels very attainable.

3Diva Thanks heaps! heart Your set is like a box of chocolates. My mind is spinning with the things I want to try out. I really like Sakura 8 a lot, so I'm gonna have to see how she fares in FilaToon after converting her with your set. And more regular non-toony cinematic stuff too - I've got a film noir piece that I want to check out. Then more abstract stuff would be great to try in FilaToon and animate. But first I may have to get some sleep... Lol. Hope we don't tire you out with all our experiments! laugh

I happen to really love the look of the IRay engine and have not really got the appeal of the whole "Filatoon" look to be honest. This thread has changed my mind somewhat. I picked up your product to do some experimenting. For what it is worth, the Youtube Tutorial videos made this sale.

Yeah, I've been using Photoshop for years for the purpose of comic creation but I'm seriously thinking about picking up ComicLife. It looks like it might be much easier to work with. I have my own custom font that I made with my own writing though, so I'll have to see if one can use custom fonts with it before deciding if I should get it.

Oh that's so awesome to hear! I'm really glad that the product refreshed your interest in NPR work and Daz Studio! Even if you never end up getting it, just the fact that it inspired you to get into NPR work makes me happy to hear!
If you do end up picking it up, though, please feel free to share your renders! I'd love to see!

I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing people's experiments and renders with my product. It makes me so excited to see what you all are doing with it! Sometimes PAs make stuff and we can only HOPE that others get enjoyment out of it. Seeing people using and enjoying our products is very rewarding! It makes the long hours of work and testing and experimenting worth it, knowing that people are enjoying using the product and finding it helpful.

It makes me very happy to see the renders and animations you guys are doing!

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Try and take it easy. I know that watching funny things can help when one isn't well. I know it's cliche but laughter really is the best medicine! I hope you feel better soon.

Oh wow! That's really cool to hear - that I MIGHT have helped change your mind about NPR art! I do hope you give it a try and please feel free to share your renders. Here's hoping we find a new NPR enthusiast! hahah :D If not, at least you gave it a go and are open-minded about trying out new things! Thank you so much for the feedback on the tutorial too. I'm not very good at teaching and the moment I turn on the mic and start talking I feel like cotton-mouth and so nervous. I must have started recording that tutorial nearly a dozen times. But I'm glad I powered through and did the tutorial. Like I said - it's good to try new things. In this case I do think that I'll try and do more tutorials in the future. I can't get better at it unless I practice, right? :)

I just picked up the Ranger Bundle for Genesis 2 Female for just over $3 and thought I'd give it a spin with Easy FilaToon. The environment is Stonemason's Jungle Construction Kit (plus a toon sky backdrop).

    Here's the Recipe:

    Draw Option: E2

    Bloom: D

    Clothing: Base Clothing 01

    Skin: Base Skin 03

Environment: Base Environment 04 + Diffuse Overlay Color P

    Lines Colored

Is that the FilaToon version of your profile picture character? If it's something you're willing to share, are your comics up somewhere we can have a peek? I'm just always curious and like to check out and enjoy what everyone's working on. smiley
