Perhaps for some, but considering the number of posts from people needing claification, it wasn't working out well for the majority. And since DAZ has now changed the terms for the third time, that likely means sales were not nearly as high as they'd hoped. Either way, it doesn't really matter to me, I didn't have any money to spend(still don't) and even if I had, the whole thing was just needlessly convoluted and complicated so I probably wouldn't have bought anything even if I could. Now that things have been simplified, I hope the people who can spend, do so.
As DAZ_Steve has been posting, and explaining exactly what the reasons were for this game plan change I think that You should read the thread thoroughly before making statements like this
Where did you read this? They said you won't lose the revs you have. So he will be able to buy one item in each order for the rest of the promotion for 52% off. One today, one 4 minutes from now. And based on what Daz_Steve said, they goal is to be for the remainder of full throttle. So the remainder of the month.
This was the post I was referring to, where he explains that it was customer feedback that was a major influence on the cahnge
The Revs that people had accumulated remain in force, and will (unlike the original version) continue. Hardly consistent with the change being intended to in some way thwart those with accumulated Revs. It's true that people on fewer than four Revs cannot now close the gap, but equally those with Revs don't have to buy to maintain their discount.
Here's what the message said for 4 Rev-Ups:
Full Throttle Savings
As our thanks for participating in the REV-UP portion of the Premier Artist Festival, we want to give you a special boost in the Full Throttle portion of this sale. Instead of getting one item at 40% off, two at 50% off, and 3 or more at 60% off, you will get 64% off all featured Full Throttle products.
I'm seeing the 64% discount for any sale item I put in my shopping cart.
FWIW, I liked the Rev-Up style sale much better than the one where you had to purchase 5 or more new releases in a week to earn a future discount!
I had to log in to say that I'm happy to see you listening and reacting to customer feedback. That seems to be a dying trend across businesses for some reason, so I'm really glad to see it here. I get testing out new things, seeing what might work, but they're not always winners. Pivoting when you see this is important, and I'm happy you did.
In the way of constructive criticism (not being nasty, just trying to inform for next time), here's why this particular promotion didn't work for me:
1) there's not always something new I want each day
2) it's not uncommon for me to work 14 hour days (earning money I can spend on slower days), so I can't mentally pay attention each and every day, especially at what's a very busy time of year for me
3) I didn't like the "penalty" feeling of daily expirations
Wiz- IMO Daz doesn't do things to deliberately try and hurt the customers. They test, they change, they may not do exactly what everyone wants, but it's never a deliberate attempt to hurt anyone who shops with them. If they do that inadvertantly, they will probably make more changes. They looked out for the people with 4 REVS and gave a good discount to them the rest of the month (to reward those who bought products daily.) They heard people complain over and over they wanted a buy 1-2-3 discount, and they gave it.
Interesting notion. However, even if some customers were getting the best possible out of the "rev up" sytem, I can't help feeling that they were outnumbered by those who were just opting out.
But I may be merely projecting, since for myself, I simply hadn't the time to keep track of jumping through the "rev up" loops.. So I have been ignoring the PA sale.
Now, I'll be taking a look each day or two to see if there is a combination of items that add up to 60% off and are of sufficient apparent quality to overide the zero warranty risk. Simple and attractive.
Give us a k.i.s.s.
.
Ok, i need someone to do the DAZ math for me, cos I can't work this out.
I have the message saying:
Instead of getting one item at 40% off, two at 50% off, and 3 or more at 60% off, you will be able to get:
So, is this 52% off the NON-sale price? For example, "DA Sunglasses" full price is $14.95
My math says 52% off $14.95 makes it $7.18
When I put that in my cart, it says $8.07
So i really need someone to explain the math to me here.
Instead of the 40% off you get 52% off for 1, and instead of 50% off you get 60% off 2 or more.
yes, but what i'm saying is that the math for the discounts doesn't seem to add up for me. It doesn't look right - unless I am not doing DAZ Math. So that's why I don't get it.
Is Nuru Hair discount working? It's more expensive than it was this morning I know the sale changed so that may be why
jaki, it should be:
If you put one item from the full throttle items in your basket, you get 52%discount.
if you put 2 or more, it's 60% discount.
The math doesn't jive, though. 8.07 = 54% of the total, meaning the discount is only 46%, not 52%.
Reported.
What item? And what did your message say?
My personal discount math is fine, but the above is what I think (s)he was trying to address.
Sorry, missed that....that will need a ticket.
Cris, they still haven't fixed Nuru Hair and it goes off discount after today. You reported it at 7:30ish and it's two hours later. Can you give them a nudge and remind them this one goes off after tonight? (discounts still only three days, right? It was new on Monday.)
Another hiccup, the daily sale e-mails for the last couple of days have still been prominently featuring the old "lose a rev-up if you don't buy each day" text. Although now it'll have to be changed again anyway for tomorrow's e-mail...
Thank you DAZ for listening and for the change up, much simplier. Also thank you kindly for honoring my REV ups for the remainder of this sale version
. I feel more inclined to buy now that I dont feel I am being punished for not buying.
This:
"Instead of getting one item at 40% off, two at 50% off, and 3 or more at 60% off, you will get 64% off all featured Full Throttle products."
Oh great, now they've UPPED the price on Nuru Hair to over $15 by dropping the discount down to 30%. Well, at least they're tinkering with it. (And it's only 11pm-ish here. Daz time in my time zone is 1am, so no, it should not be going off sale yet.)
We are having a horrid heat wave here in Los Angeles and I had lain down, but it looks like Google ate my messages to marketing, so just sent another try.
I read 2 pages and that's quite enough of the people who don't read their messages.
Thank you DAZ for releasing the pressure; now I don't feel so out of breath having to log on at 1:55 am every day!
I think they got your message- that's the only one I can see where the price changed. It went the wrong way, up instead of down, but...
Hope you get some cool weather soon. (Says the person in Florida, lol. Went out back to cut bamboo and it was 102 heat index at 4:30pm. I knew it was going to be a 15-minute-I'm-done type thing.) Anyway thanks for keeping up with it. Go back and get some rest!
Very glad to see the change made to what was a horrible marketing campaign.
