The official watermarks are DS plus Iray and DS, rather than DS plus Iray and DS plus 3Delight. It's pretty unlikely that a promo would use one of the OpenGL modes, and if it uses an external renderer such as LuxRender or Octane that is usually marked.
That's right, IF the promo pictures are correctly marked - and sometimes they are not marked at all - then using the process of deduction customers can find out what render engine was used.
See, it's usually not a problem for me personally, but there are people who are new at this and presumably DAZ wants to win them over as well. Also, I don't see the upside to reducing the amount of information on the promo pictures.
It's the whole 'let's remove the numbers in the names of our figures surfaces' thing again.
I love her face
ok :D the jeans and boots have been found but what about the shirt I'd like to find it too, its awesome too
thanks
MW
(EDIT)
This shirt? Or that green speckle/glitter shirt not in the clothing set for Skyler (I don't know)?
Greetings,
The flourish-y filmy top with tassels is the Barefoot Dancer outfit; I believe it's free with the Genesis 2 Female Essentials download.
Edit: The glittery green top I answered last page. The white top comes with the set, IIRC. I don't know about the fey outfit off the top of my head.

OMG you're so right its the barefoot dancer top *hugs* thank you :D oh and renderosity is having christmas in july if ya'll would like :D
I get the feeling there's a little bit missing in the the top(strap) of the Skyler swimsuit (see attached image)
Anyone else got this problem?
that is on regular G3F by the way.
 depending on the hair of course
Skyler with G3F toulouse hair .....
Firefox wanted to update in the middle of that, lol. in any case, yea, it's missing polygons.
Hay, perhaps that update will fix new horizons glitch,
Noted, we'll address this in an update.
that is on regular G3F by the way.
If you were to convert the suit into obj and then import into a program like Poser to be used as dynamic clothing then that missing bit would cause the back straps to break apart, and the whole thing would likely slip off the body for a major wardrobe malfunction.

Thank you in advance... :)

I wouldn't want to see the thread about THAT...
But a quick 'fix' would be to export it as an obj and 'bridge' it in a program that has 'live' UV updating (not all bridging will work as it would probably break the UV mapping...), before using it as dynamic cloth/doing a drape with it.
On the topic of outfits included with the Skyler G3F bundle. When an item such as the swimsuit in the scene tab is selected, I'm not seeing anything in the smart tab for "Materials" (color/mat options)? Is it the same for the G2F outfit and there are no options (as of now), or is it somewhere hidden in the Content library?
It's the same for SkylerSneakers, SkylerVest, SkylerDress, and the above mentioned swimsuit.
(EDIT)
The 'Products' thing is equally empty when the item is selected. The only thing that shows up under 'Shaders' is "Sparkles for Studio", "Strange substance Pack" 1&2, and the "Tiler Shader for Daz Studio".
The outfits have a single texture/mat, so no material files are included, as they are not needed for the product as is.
Sorry to hear that - I guess I'll no longer support you.
Sorry to hear that, as a merchant with limited time, we have to decide where our time should go. We feel that DAZ Studio is more focused on pushing this technology forward than Poser.
Funny how even PA's can make critical remarks about Poser and the moderators let it slide.... but as soon as somebody tries to defend Poser they jump in and say no software flame wars allowed.
We apologise if our post made you think we were being critical of Poser, that was not in any way our intention. We simply prefer the direction that DAZ Studio is taking, and with limited time available for developing 3D content for the hobbyist market, we need to make smart decisions, even if those decisions are not liked or supported by everyone.
So many cute pictures of Skyler, a cute character for sure....just don't make her angry!
Sorry... I seem to have broken the quote in my frustration...
I wish I had seen that before just spending £20 I don't really have.
I thought all Genesis 2 figures were fully compatible with Poser.
I don't like DS because I make movies more than do static renders and I cannot stand DS for that. But saying that, I even get problems with the Skyler items in DS. I have no other content other than the Gen 2 base figures, and this Skyler bundle, yet I get the error in the attached image when I add the character to the scene.
I think I will contact support, point them at this thread, show them the error and see if I can get a refund... although they're probably just going to laugh.
Do you have this installed? http://www.daz3d.com/subsurface-shader-base
No, simply because it wasn't part of my product library when I purchased Daz Studio Pro, so I had no reason to suspect that anything was missing. There's nothing on the Skyler Bundle page that says any additional software is required either. You'd think that if a vendor is only supporting one product, then they would at least be able to supply all the right information to enable it to work as expected...
If the support team come back with a *No* to my request, then I'll have to download that. It just seems pointless to download more software to install into a package I don't use though.
I know this all sounds a bit ranty, but I have really limited income (i.e. none) and this has turned out to be a disaster, so I'm a bit gutted now. Thanks for the link though... maybe the vendor will add that to their product page... maybe.
We do not really mention it because it is pretty much a standard requirement these days and most users are aware that it is needed. Basically, everybody has it installed. If you look at character releases, you won't see it listed as a requirement.
I have just discovered that it (the shaders package) was released with DS 4.6, not 4.8. I don't use DS, so I had no idea what was considered standard.
Not every Daz user has been a regular user for the past several years, and some are coming back after a couple of years away. If your product *still* requires something, then it should say so. Don't presume your (potential) customers are fully clued up with the current state of affairs. I have bought a fair bit of stuff off here in the past, and if something drops out of sight, you lose track of what are essential installation items.
If something really was a *standard* item, it would be included as part of the installation. Not everyone uses SSS, 90% of my content doesn't, and what does usually gets it removed, as it looks wrong in the preview window. Like I said, I'm a movie guy, not an uber-realistic static render guy, what I see in preview needs to be accurate to what I will see in the final render.
Anyway, I will sort it out with support, don't worry about it, I'm just one man amongst many, 3D Universe haven't lost much by losing me as a customer, it's no biggie. Thanks for the link to the shaders though.
Cool, you're welcome.
It's also included in "Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio", which you really should install.
If I used DS a lot, then I probably would, but I don't.
It was a few years back when I bought DS Pro, I was using Poser 7 at the time. I thought DS would be a better option as it was cheaper than Poser 2014 Pro, so I bought it. After trying the animation side of it, I uninstalled it and never used it again. I briefly reinstall when a new version comes out to see what's changed, but it's just not for me. The rendering quality is way ahead of Poser, but the animation handling is woeful. I installed it to try this Skyler character, but it will be gone again by tomorrow.
But I don't want this to degenerate into me constantly posting about why I don't use DS, not when there's such an excellent character for everyone else to talk about. I do appreciate the info though, I know it's not always easy to give helpful info to someone busy ranting away. So that is very much appreciated.
Thew G2F version of Skyler should work in Poser... Reinstall Studio, make sure you have the G2F Starter Essentials installed, as well as the default lights and shaders. From there, you can map the Studio Library to your runtime, and it should just work. You'll have to muck about with the material settings, since there aren't Companion Files, but I'm sure you're used to that.
Oh, and a neat little secret: Hiding somewhere in the Studio options someplace, there's a clicky for creating Poser Companion files. It's not something that works perfectly, but it's a place to start from that'll make your life a lot easier. AFAIK, all it does it create basic .cr2 files and convert whatever shaders are present at the time for use in Firefly via some sort of script. I don't know the details, as I've never had the need to use it.
Mind you I could have that completely sideways, but I remember seeing the option in the last few days, so it should still be present.
